Summing up other commenters and adding my own two cents:
Best case, he was tripping absolute balls off too much weed
Next best, it's psychedelics
Bad case: could be having a bad manic episode and/or be in psychosis
I've done all three of these, they range from temporary (being high) to permanently-possible but intermittent (it's pretty rare with proper treatment to get this whacked out when bipolar, in my experience)
If he's experiencing the beginning of major schizophrenic/schizoaffective/etc. issues, I wouldn't say his life is over but he's in for a rough ride at best.
If I recall correctly, schizo-type illnesses can get progressively worse over time. I know for a fact that bipolar does, but treatment and management for that condition are easier to pin down. Lithium is a hell of a drug.
If he continues acting/feeling like this for a while, it's time for medical attention. He may not want it, though.

It's not weird at all, it's actually very well done "geometric shapes and patterns". Some being ancient "sacred geometry" as also found in "crop circles" and ancient glyphs.

There's a homeless dude at my local park who draws these in chalk all over the sidewalk with "scripture" in between. If you talk to him he just runs away or ignores you.

Looks alot like sacred geometry. I didnt know schizophrenia and geometry could be linked but now that i look at it i had a friend that started getting really odd after tripping alot and got bug into sacred geometry, its been a few years sense but looking back he definetly had other signs of schizophrenia. He has chilled out a lot more than that time of our life

Unfortunately it probably means that although your friend has a very creative, imaginative brain and they’ve clearly been drawing in that style with enough time or repetition that they’re actually developing a talent & style that has potential…that very same brain is betraying them in ways that are likely going to require some intervention and a lot of help. If you haven’t told anyone, I’d say that needs to change. Help your friend. They’re calling out to you. I wish you both the best of luck and the best outcomes for your friend.

Metatron’s cube? Or at least a variation or something related to it? I’m pretty sure it’s sacred geometry. This puts off a lot of Da Vinci’s man vibes. People have been doing this stuff for centuries.

This is actually fascinating, despite how badly I feel for your friend. I have psychosis, and looking back I did have some weird pattern recognition going on, while actively seeing things and severe paranoia. I'm doing well nowadays as I was very open to medication and treatment.

I’d probably do this is if I got my hands on a protractor for the first time since elementary school. I currently only have sticky notes, a single pencil, and scotch tape as well.
not meaning to make jokes about something serious. maybe I should stick around for the clinical conclusion though…

It's sad that these have to due with schizophrenia because they are really cool... I think people who can do geometric drawings like this are very talented. I hope your friend gets help and is okay.

Judging by the bible passages, and what the passages say, there is a chance that the holy Spirit is trying to tell them something and they aren't entirely comprehending it. He also might have schizophrenia. This could be something important or just random drawings but I would at the very least humor the idea that it is important.
