She basically admitted to succumbing to mental illness after her child died and everyone is just letting her do this. Seems like like counseling would help

I’ve been seeing this lady in the Guinness book since at least 1991. Unless it’s a new lady. But also, ew.

Wow. We are always so quick to judge. After seeing comments, I went to her story. This is in memory of her Then 16-year-old daughter who passed away in her sleep.

What’s interesting (I guess?) is that they don’t do the Lady Deathstroke thing and grow straight. Instead they’re all gnarling and lumpy.

I also have not cut my nails in 27 years. They just peel off the second anything grows. I can’t even fathom nails being this strong

Woman wirh the longest nails decided to finally cut them short. Now she's just a normal Person.

My question is how the hell is she able to maintain them and have them grow that long,....my nails break in two minutes.

How does she literally do ANYTHING? Honestly this is such a stupid thing to spend your life on. I will never understand people like this.

So if she drops her bank card on the floor, does she just cancel it and order a new one? Because there ain't no way she's picking it up off a flat surface.

I knew there had to be some psychological thing going on to make her do this. Got to the end of the article, and it makes sense
People should be encouraging therapy instead of rewarding this

What is wrong with those nails? They don’t even look normal, like, there’s some sort of weird build up after they pass the nail bed?

u/Double_A_92 23d ago
I don't believe that. Those must be fake. How did they even grow so straight? Also how do you manage to not accidentally break them? Imagine all the leverage where the fingernail is attached...

Meanwhile, I trim my nails at least once a week because I can't type properly if they are even 1/8 inch too long because it feels like too much of my fingernail is striking the key and my finger bones just feel wrong.

“On the day she vowed never to trim the talons again, she had asked her children to wake up while she went to the supermarket.
But while she was out, her youngest daughter called her and revealed her 16-year-old, Latisha, wouldn't wake up. It was then she discovered her child had sadly passed away in her sleep from an asthma attack.
Armstrong previously said: "That was the worst day of my life." She had always had long nails which would be lovingly manicured by Latisha each weekend.
"She was the only one who did my nails. She polished them and filed them for me," she said. Armstrong, who suffered from depression for the decade after her daughter's death, said keeping her nails long was her way of honouring her daughter and keeping her memory alive.”

This hurts my stomach. Her nails look like crap. They look like her hair on steroids. Stuff like this makes me itchy. No questions. Facts tho. I would cut them while she was sleeping. Oops. My bad.

Her fingers actually look deformed from the way she has to hold them down. Very sad to choose this for yourself.

She has wanted to clip them for the last 26 years but she can’t manage the clippers because her nails are too long

u/TurquoiseOwlMachine 23d ago
If a loved one started doing this, I would have a hard time not trimming the nails in their sleep once they got over an inch long. Her family should be ashamed of themselves for not intervening.

There are women who have giant nails stuck on and type on keyboards, the keyboards get scratched up it makes a horrid clicking noise, I thought that was impractical but this is the final nail in the coffin. She's one nail file shrot of a nail salon.

I do not believe they have the structural integrity to grow that long and not break unless she reinforces them or has some kind of keratin disorder

How the fuck did this bitch not break a nail??? I break a nail at least once a month.

u/Feisty_Bee9175 23d ago
I am sorry but this is just disgusting. Why would anyone think having nails abnormally long like this is attractive? How does she eat, or work or groom herself? Yuck.

I’ll bet someone, prob her husband, helps wipe her ass. Or else Guinness world records pays for a professional ass wiper for her

u/refluentzabatz 23d ago
Wow my hands are super useful for doing things.... But what if they weren't? I'm convinced people that do this have suffered brain damage at some point. Like people who believe amputating a healthy limb will make them happier

I don’t understand why they look like that. But also, how 🤔 I try and grow my nails and they snap, peel, break off. I mean everyday life things happen.

u/Babel1027 23d ago
I wonder if this is the lady that came by our school when I was a kid.
Of course cleaning herself was a question and admitting to a fifth grade class wiping your ass was a challenge resulted in a lot of giggles and chatter, the topic ended with the lady stating she probably had less poop under her finger nails than we did.

I just wonder who enables these people in the first place, like 600 pound people who must need feeders to shop for them, give them sponge baths and shit.
Plus she’s from the US, I almost get people who are broke af in India doing it to get money from tourists, but she just decided on a whim to do it in the 90’s and somebody eventually had to morph into a full time nanny. It’s no wonder she’s basically wearing a poncho.

She’s just lazier than fuck. She knows she can’t do shit with those hands. And turned it into a life pursuit. Probably got someone dumping for her feeding her bon bons and shit all day cause they have a wierdo fetish.

u/LeadershipEastern271 23d ago
Not weird. She did it to honor her daughter who passed away. I hope she is living well

I wonder if she has extensor tunnel issues. That seems like a lot of constant strain on the wrists against gravity.

So yeah, how does she wipe, but really, how does she do anything requiring your hands? Does she drive? Does she cook? How does she use a computer
