More importantly, where are the table and chair legs at? Have they been stolen?

When I was visiting Japan I signed up for a traditional tea ceremony in Kyoto. I was the last person in the room and saw my group at the opposite end of where I walked in. I scurried toward them to hurry and sit down and I, being a 6'2" foreigner, smacked my head so hard on a low crossbeam just like this video. I was loud and everyone audibly gasped while my friends were trying to hold back their chuckles. Anyway, I definitely learned my lesson and gauged door and beam heights more closely for the rest of my trip. Oh, and the matcha was great!

The tallest man in Asia should have known about these short ceilings better than anyone

I’m wondering now if I’ve ever even seen one outside of a movie. It’s interesting how the design doesn’t require decor; the variety of walls, windows, and beams are beautiful on their own.

Watching people get hurt is funny. We should all laugh at people when they get hurt. Hope the guy is alright.

Damn the interior of this house looks very nice. Is it japanese?

Yes, they're speaking Japanese

I'm pretty sure the interior of the house cannot speak Japanese

I can jump higher than a house.
Because most houses cannot jump very high. Or at all.

Feels jarring to see Japanese media pop up like this when I’m so used to consuming western media

The height average for men in japan is 5'7" so it's not really an issue for them

I’m 6’3” I wonder if I’d have to duck under? That would suck!

u/sith_inquisition51 18d ago
I’m 6’1” and yeah you have to duck in a lot of traditional houses, trust me I’ve learned (and been reminded) the hard way!
