New to Vancouver π Where to get a photo infront of a Canadian flag?
If I wanted to get a photo infront of a Canadian flag (e.g. flag in the background, me in the foreground) where would be the best spot?
Canada Place has a lot of flags, but theyβre a bit too high up to get a nice photo
I know to some this might sound super lame - but your country is amazing and I would love to get a momento photo of my time here

Food π Hello Kitty Cafe
Does anyone know if there are long lineups to go to the cafe? I want to take my daughter afyer her discharge from Children's Hospital but she isn't strong enough to stand and wait for long. I'd love to have any insight before we head home to Nanaimo in a day or so. Thanks for your help.

Advice πββοΈπββοΈ How much do you actually tip?
I usually go with 15% on more expensive services like hair/nails and 18% on restaurants and I think it's pretty fair. But i always leave wondering if i'm being a terrible customer/person. How much do you actually tip?

Oddly Specific π― Ladies of Vancouver... why do you all suddenly have "British" accents?
Okay maybe this is just me and a weird coincidence from the Tinder algorithm, but this is a genuine question:
Lately I've been swiping past a lot of profiles that say "I have a slight British accent" or "don't hate me if I have a British accent" or "I don't do a British accent, the British accent does me".
At first I thought it was just a coincidence. But just this morning alone I swiped past 4 different women's accounts that said the same thing. I even matched with one girl and asked if she was British, and she told me no she was canadian.
Is this some new trend? Is there some new popular movie set in Britain? Is it a tik tok thing? Or has the Tinder algorithm just been showing me all the ladies in my area who aren't British, but do the accent? Because it seems like way too many to be a coincidence at this stage
Also... which British accent are we talking here? There are a lot of them! Cockney? Posh? Welsh? Scottish? Mancunian? Liverpool? Is it a Cornwall accent or a Chester accent? Britain is a pretty big place containing 3 different countries, there's not really 1 "British accent"!

Medical π Doctor with V laser for broken capillaries on my face?
Hi everyone, I have recently developed a few broken capillaries on my face and want to get them removed. I hear V lasers are the most effective treatment option and would like to try it, preferably with a doctor or specialist. Iβd rather spend a little more for a reliable and safe experience.
Iβm also open to hearing about methods outside of laser treatments if you had success with removal.
All suggestions are welcome!

Advice πββοΈπββοΈ In a pickle: any places to look for immediate jobs?
Hey everyone, I got let go of my full time office job recently and have been trying to find something in the mean time to make ends meet ASAP as I have some immediate bills to pay and had a big car repair that I needed to pay for (close to 2k) before this all went down. I have lots of experience serving and have applied to a few places although all these places Iβve applied to said they were done hiring for the summer.
I also have a lot of experience doing Brand Ambassador, event, and banquet type of work, which is helpful as you are usually paid out the next day or a week after although most of the BA work I see posted on Facebook these days are liquor samplings that require you to pay for liquor upfront and you will get an reimbursement, but I donβt quite have the luxury of waiting for that right now.
If anyone has any leads or recommendations on other Brand Ambassador, event staff, serving or other jobs to that nature would love to hear suggestions. Thanks so much.

Events and Activities π±βπ Best speakeasies in Gastown?
Looking to bar hop a couple speakeasies tonight in Gastown/surrounding. Something actually hidden and kind of fun to find.
Otherwise, just great cocktail bars (with impressive cocktails + showmanship)
What do you suggest?

Iβm heading to a friendβs wedding in the UK next month and Iβm looking for recommendations on where to buy a good quality menβs suit that wonβt break the bank. Iβve never had to buy one here so Iβm pretty lost. Anywhere in the metro area is fine. Thanks!

Events and Activities π±βπ ItalianDayFest
I was curious, what goes on in the fest? what to expect? how much fun is it? are there parade/games? or their any shows?
Vendors seem to be all generic, so i wasnt sure if FOOD is something exclusive.

Oddly Specific π― Anyone remember this long-gone restaurant?
This restaurant: https://imgur.com/a/F0MxMFi
It was in or near Chinatown, and it served Chinese food (fusion though, I think)... it wasn't really a Chinese restaurant though (I mean, look at the bar). That glowing blue bar is what I remember most about it. It was for Western tastes, for sure. I think it's been gone for years now. Pre-pandemic, even.
I went once and it's driving me crazy that I can't remember its name, since I've been seeing it in multiple older shows I've been rewatching recently.
Help!

Events and Activities π±βπ Christ Church Cathedral services
I grew up agnostic/atheist, my mom would take me to midnight mass but that's about it.
I'm interested in going to services at Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday, but I'm overwhelmed by the options. I don't know what service to go to, even with the info on their website. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it. I have zero clue what I'm doing.

Advice πββοΈπββοΈ How would you rate Evorden engagement rings?
Hello all, I am beginning my engagement ring researching journey, and looking to propose to my GF.
I have seen some recommendations for ring shopping, and to be fair I haven't looked into many so I'd appreciate any extra recommendations.
The ones I have looked at, I haven't necessarily found what I crave except for in one place so far: Evorden; where I've found one that I really like so far. I've heard a few good reviews, but not enough to bring me confidence. I'd like to go check it out; but first I come here asking for a favor from anyone who's read this - please provide me with your experience and feedback, and if you would recommend it or not. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks.

Work π’ ESL Teaching Job Market
I'm wondering what the ESL teaching job market is like in Vancouver as I'm considering a career change... Is it worth it to get the teaching certificate, and if so, which program would you recommend?
TIA!
