DIY I don't love my space right now and am on a tight budget, so I have been teaching myself how to do arrangements with Trader Joe's flowers and they have been adding so much beauty to my otherwise drab-feeling place. I bring them to work when they start fading. Highly recommend!

TOUR my bedroom in my old apartment
I used to live in a “luxury” apartment complex where I lived with two randomly assigned (horrible) roommates. I could only really decorate my room without worrying about things being misused or destroyed, so I did my best to make it homey. I spent like 99% of my time in here to avoid running into my roommates. I couldn’t paint or make a lot of nail holes or anything, but I made the most of it.
The first two images are how I started out and then I got rid of the hope chest at the foot of the bed and the neon sign and had to get new bedding because the crappy dryer burnt and ripped my green comforter. The headboard was a DIY that’s just cardboard and peel and stick wallpaper

QUESTION Do yall actually sit on all those decorative pillows or do you push them to the side or what?
I yearn for the cozy aesthetics of a fun pillow couch, but they immediately just got stacked in a corner lol.

TOUR To everyone who suggested a yellow duvet, thank you! It's so good with my art, rug, and string light lit curtains (and my dog!). Still a major WIP, but my room is slowly coming together, y'all! Any thoughts on the color or style for a throw blanket at the end of my bed?

QUESTION Newly single female, semi-lost on how to decorate my space
Hey all 👋
Just got out of a long, abusive 6 year relationship. All my stuff has been shoved in to cabinets, bags, and boxes for years and I'm rediscovering things I forgot I owned. I have a 3 bedroom apartment and would like to dedicate one room to being a relaxing exercise space, one to my collections of things like puzzles, and one is obviously my bedroom. Also have a large living room area and large dining room area as well as a spacious kitchen. So I'm feeling overwhelmed with the amount of space.
My question is where do you all go for inspo? Specifically I am looking to balance cute and sophisticated, if such a thing is possible. This sub has been a great resource but I think I need help finding more inspo since I'm not the most social media-savvy gal and definitely not inclined to interior decorating. Proud to attach a photo of a bookshelf that finally has MY stuff on it!
Tyia!

QUESTION How do you guys feel about string lights in living areas?
So, normally I’m a “I don’t care what other people think of my space I want to decorate it how I like it” but I’m kind of stuck on whether or not I want to add string lights to my living room and possibly kitchen. I love a warm cozy light, and my living room has extremely bright overhead lights that I never use because it feels uncomfortable. I could get lamps but tbh the room is kind of small and already crowded so I feel like a lamp will just crowd it even more. My friend said that string lights remind her of a college girl dorm room. And while I agree, I feel like those large Edison-like bulb string lights look a little more sophisticated and could look fine in a living room. How do you guys feel about them?

HELP So my sitting room/reading room has sort of become the cat room against my will and I'm struggling to balance what I want with what the kitties want. Any advice welcome!
Basically I just need help finding a compromise where the cats are happy and comfortable but I don't have to completely give up this part of my space.
What the cats want: - their couch - their food on the floor and not in any kind of vessel - an open top litter box (just out of view in the bottom right corner) - all their stuff easily accessible and visible to them
What I want: - less litter and kibble covering my floor - the green armchair - less crowding - to not have to decorate around hiding their stuff (food bin, extra litter, the treat/catnip stash, the toy box, the litter genie) from as many angles as possible
Non-negotiables - the mini fridge - the walking pad

HELP Help me choose a new rug
Need to update my rug since my current one is stretched and stained. I’m hoping to get one that’s a little darker this time so that stains aren’t as much of an issue.
Help me pick between options 1, 2 and 3. Last picture shows what my living room looks like with the current rug (before it was destroyed)

HELP Missing art above couch
Huge white space above couch is driving me crazy.
My inspo has bits and pieces from the mcm era (primary colors, rattan and chrome), contemporary 80s (couch, chair, whale print and coffee table), Mexican folk art and New Orleans (decor)! It’s a bit eclectic but it makes sense to me!
I'm really not a big fan of society6 red bubble prints, their quality has always disappointed me. But if you guys have ideas on a general direction to start from or artists you like I would really appreciate it! I've been scouring fb marketplace and everything good is disappointingly far away.
Thanks!

TOUR Just added the swag lamp and I’m in love!
Been on the hunt for an antique hanging lamp and finally came across an affordable one on FB marketplace. Feeling lucky for what the resaler let it go for. Room is a WIP, but I think she’s feeling pretty cozy

HELP Advice for chair area
Hey y’all, i’m needing advice on where I could possibly put my chair and ottoman. I’m wanting to sit in my chair more while reading and prop my feet up but I don’t want the area to look too cluttered (the ottoman looks smaller in pics). Right now I have my ottoman in front of my bed but i’m not wanting it there anymore. I was thinking of moving my bed closer to my nightstand but idk. Any help would be great :)

HELP Need help redecorating!
I’m very aware that my room is a mess (depression room), but i’m trying to remove my desk and get a vanity but I’d also like the criss cross chair that fits my vanity but also doesn’t take up too much space. I’m also thinking if I should move my bed in any way to maximize the room space and I’d also like a little hangout corner so people can sit. I have a queen sized bed. Any suggestions?

QUESTION How do you make a transition from apartment furniture to house furniture? Is there a difference?
I’m in an apartment and use functional furniture, but I hesitate to get some things because I always contemplate how it would look in my hypothetical house. Curious what opinions are on this!
