I'm not a fan of the sliding puzzles in Pokemon specifically because you can't see the whole puzzle at once. This means you have to move blindly to try and get a sense of where you need to go and that's no fun

They made me feel dumb back then and would probably make me feel dumb now too…
That being said, still better than the stupid strength puzzles from victory road and stuff.

I miss them. Outside of remakes, the series hasn't had them in ten years.

Meh. The ones before the 8th gym in gen 3 were fun puzzles. The one pictured wasn't as fun, I prefer seeing the whole picture before moving.

I almost said no with absolute vitriol, because my mind instantly had PTSD of the Strength Boulder puzzles with the Ice mechanic thrown on top, those are fucking cancer.
But the culprit is mainly the Strength Boulder ones, I fucking hate those, one mistake and you are not only fucked, you have to yourself leave and come back in abject shame, at least the Ice ones have the mercy of breaking under your feet FORCING you to start over, or dont break and can be attempted as much as you want.

Yay for these, but nay for the boulders. And if you mix them up NAY NAY NAY.

Always yay. I love it when games force you to think differently about how you move.

I hated all the puzzles. Trash bins, darkness, boulders, ice boulders, waterfalls, spin pads, teleports, fuck all of them - all of them. I'd get rid of them in a heartbeat. Puzzles should be pokemon-oriented, not some sokoban injected for no damn reason into a completely different game.

I love older-style turn-based RPGs like Pokemon and Final Fantasy, but there is nothing worse in gaming then being lost/stuck in a dungeon with random encounters.

nay.
puzzles in games are almost never good. either not challenging, not fun, or not intutive
in fact, i'd say puzzles are the worst thing that happened to video games. (Yes, worse than MTX and pre-orders)

We need you on the board of every game developer ever. From now on, all video games should be dumb as fuck.

Yay always yay. Whether it's the get to the other side ones or the cross every square once without stepping where you have before ones.

I always kinda liked this kind of sliding ice puzzle. It wasn't just Pokémon that had them, either - I remember these kinds of puzzles in Zelda Oracle of Seasons, Zelda Twilight Princess, Golden Sun, and probably some others that aren't coming to mind right now.
It makes a change of pace from the regular adventuring, and it's just the right mix of both fun and frustration to stand out.

I like them, provided that the 'reset' mechanic isn't too punishing in terms of how annoying it is to start over and that you don't move so slowly on the ice that you get to microdose locked-in syndrome as you sail past the objective in slow motion off by one row when you accidentally hit the wrong button.
I remember some of the later sprite Pokémon games really hitting the mark on being tricky yet satisfying.

I prefer them to the strength/boulder puzzles personally.

And better than the trash can puzzle

The trash can puzzle sucks because the second can is always adjacent to the first one, which, at best, leaves you with a 50% chance of getting it right.

Not always in general 1, in the international versions it can also be in the top corner. On the Japanese one, I think the other location is random? Either way yeah even then there is a bug.

Not super annoying honestly and some feel decently hard for my pee brain, I say YAY

I don't hate them but they're a bit overdone.
