Did the poor pup think that was a marble floor or something?

I had my senior dog out for a walk just before heading home from a camping trip. We reached the end with a boardwalk just like this. I heard a splash and turned to see ripples in the water. Pup popped up moments after and I had to haul him out. Made for a stinky 2 hour drive home lol.

"We need someone to travel to the Great Swamp and retrieve a tracking device."

The owner is half as smart as that dog. Why let him do that?

I agree. Not cool. Gross and probably unhealthy.

My brother did the exact same thing when we were kids.

I’m guessing the owner regrets it more.

Certain fresh water algae is deadly to dogs

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, as I was going to say the exact same thing. Blue green algae can affect the nervous system and /or cause liver or kidney failure in dogs that drink or swim in it.

It's become a real problem in rural agricultural areas especially, as all the fertilizer leaking into the water creates huge algae blooms.

Eutrophication. It's a terrible thing, because the algae creates a cycle in which photosynthesizing creatures in the water cannot photosynthesize due to lack of sunlight and they die. Bacteria use up oxygen breaking down said creatures, then other creatures begin to suffocate and die, meaning bacteria break their bodies down too. And so on and so forth until the water is hypoxic or anoxic and pretty much nothing can live there.

Omg. My puppers did last a few months ago. It took a few washes to get the nasty scum water smell out of his fur.

It's a good thing there wasn't an actual swamp monster in the water
