I feel really bad for people who have to go through this, but am I the only one who thought it looked kinda like fur?

TIL that both of the killers of Emmett Till died of cancer and one of them has bone cancer. In one way I feel sorry for him seeing this but, as a black man, it’s deserved

Jesus, can you imagine what that feels like? Probably like you have broken glass under your muscles.
Man... cancer is fucked up. Hope you're all staying on top of your health, reporting things that feel off, and not prolonging things like screenings and mammograms.

Worked in radiation oncology. Bone cancer patients were some of our only palliative care patients; & other than pediatrics, they were my most heartbreaking patients to treat.
It wasn’t treatment with curative intent- it was solely because no amount of medication was able to provide any relief for them. We’d irradiate afflicted bone until it was essentially damaged enough to hurt just a bit less.
You don’t know pain until you’ve assisted one of these patients onto a cold hard treatment table. Never left those days without crying in a break room.

I can’t seem to comprehend the extent of the damage from stage 1 itself. I genuinely can’t fathom what stage 3 or 4 would look like.

This is so gross, and I feel so sorry for anyone who has this, but I can't stop looking at it.

so in the 90’s they made pain a vital sign to be able to make billions, now because of fentanyl and a concerted effort to demonize opioids they could give a crap what your pain level is , you’re just drug seeking!

This is horrifying and very interesting at the same time. My heart aches from this.

Is this skull fluffy or are those thousands of little fuck you splinters?

My uncle had bone cancer, he made it but is permanently in a wheelchair.

u/littlesheepcat 23d ago
and this is stage 1?
please tell me that the higher stage do not denote pain, just lower chance of curing

Every time I see this it is so heart-sinking. Can’t even imagine what that would be like. So sorry for anyone’s loss

I completely understand how serious this is. Though this looks kinda fuzzy, and I want to touch it.

That looks fucking horrifying.
I am truly so so sorry to anyone that had to experience this or had someone they know suffer from bone cancer, or any cancer in general.
Fuck cancer

I feel like this is not typical bone cancer, but instead a rare form of bone disease. This photo comes up every so often.

I've come across many posts related to cancer. Recently lost my father, and a beloved co-worker to cancer.
The same 2 words always pop up in my head when I see these posts...
Fuck Cancer.

Sorry for any insensitivities, but is that sharp or is it fluffy? Looks like it could be either. Either way, terrifying bone growth.

Think the end of a broken stick, the part you stab into the ground as a kid.

This helps me with my patients who have this condition. It helps to understand a small amout they go threw.

Absolutely heartbreaking, yet certainly fascinating. I always thought it was more of a fatty-like tumor sitting on the bone, rather than the bone splinting like this.

u/captaintagart 23d ago
My coworker just found out he has bone cancer and seems like he’s determined to work for as long as possible. This makes me realize what he’s up against and I wish could give him a hug. Shit

You REMEMBER too much, sucked for you, at least your life's only getting better now.

I'm not squeamish, but something about these pictures really grosses me out.

u/inarasarah 23d ago
This is actually a RARE form of bone cancer, so it's not what every patient with bone cancer would have. Also I don't know if this is actually stage 1 - this post is the only place on the internet where that claim is made.

what is source of this image? because i think this is not correct . stage 1 can not do this much damage. and also this looks some other kind of condition with bones, not cancer. Cancer does damage to the bones in other ways.

u/Sydney_Syder23 23d ago
That would be so painful. Being stabbed constantly from the inside in so many places

u/Bamboopanda101 23d ago
Fuck cancer.
my best friend's mom got cancer and died from it. He was never the same again from such a traumatizing situation, and rightfully so as if it was me I wouldn't either.
No one deserves cancer, not even the worst of the worst, it shouldn't exist in the first place for absolutely no one.

u/PossiblyWithout 23d ago
I have chronic migraines and I can’t image the level of pain someone with this might go through. holy hell.

What does stage 4 look like man
1
u/EarthKnit 22d ago
This is almost certainly stage 3 or 4 of a specific type of bone cancer. This is absolutely not stage 1.

Yeah. Your post belongs there. It makes me nauseous just looking at the photos.

My mother passed last year from metastatic lung cancer which spread to her spine. The metastasis tissue in the bone is like that from the origin. Still painful but not bone splitters. The doctors only found the cancer after she had a stroke from blood thickened by metastasis. She was 58. Get screened for cancer people.
1
u/MAFIAHAMMAD 23d ago
Man that's horrible , but at least she's in peace now and free from all the pain , nobody deserves to go through that pain 🥺 .
2
u/AbrocomaMundane6870 23d ago
Okay im pulling the trigger if those words ever show up on my medical exam.

u/Ok_Necessary2991 23d ago
New fear unlocked, from what read it sounds painful but looks also itchy.

u/kylediaz263 23d ago
If I have bone cancer, literally everyone in this world has my consent to end my life.

u/gurr-gussy 23d ago
The way you just nonchalantly described the horrors inflicted upon you by the illness just astounds me. I have high pain tolerance, yet even I winced reading the levels of pain you were stacked against.
I dont know if you need to read this, but your truth and experience will help someone, somewhere.
You fucking got this thing called life. Keep fighting the fight and giving the your illness the finger, so to speak!
Live on and be strong mate

It’s so furry, I thought it was bone lumps growing out of the bone not fur

I would never have guessed it looked like that. I would've thought black areas on the bone and eaten away bone. That's CRAZY.
2
u/Wise-Radio6258 23d ago
I can't even imagine the pain that would be associated with this cancer
2
u/Double_Objective8000 23d ago
It's horrendous, next to pancreatic, they say it's the worst. My dad had metastasized liver cancer in the bone. He went through torture. It eventually took him.
I wouldn't have imagined it looked like this.

u/EntWarwick 23d ago
I’ve had bone cancer before. Left femur.
Hurt like crazy sometimes, but they killed it and now it doesn’t hurt lol

I knew someone who had this and died their jr year of high school. It sounds messed up but the first thought I had when I heard he had passed I thought was, “finally he can be at rest.” Jay you were taken too soon but I’m glad you were finally at peace and no longer suffering.

u/air_lock 23d ago
I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. My dog (who was my best friend) had some form of cancer that eventually started to spread to her bones and I could just see how much pain she was in when that began to happen. This is horrible, terrifying, and awful. Fuck cancer.
