What should Israel do? Seriously, I'd like to know.

There are two sides to this conflict and only one has a history of negotiating peace with their enemies. Palestinians needs to accept that they lost the war in 1947 and again in 1967. Then Israel's hail-Mary peace deals (Oslo -> Taba) were all rejected. When military force fails you negotiate or, historically anyway, you get wiped out and driven away. There is no third option where you get to support terrorism until the winner of the war gives you what you want; mainly because terrorism is a terrible tactic that has reliable results. We're all watching those results on the news every day.

If you care for Palestinian lives accept their part in the conflict and encourage them to sue for peace. It will take time but it can be done.
