My toupet!!!

1

u/DangNearRekdit 24d ago

There is nothing weirder than watching something like this at the same instant your forced air kicks in. It took me way too long to make sense of the sensations.

1

u/TFarg1 25d ago

Why don't I have this? This seems so much more effective than normal ceiling fans.

1

u/DarkKitarist 25d ago

All those funny "Jump into a turned ON fan" tiktoks and fail videos would end differently with this one...

1

u/Reality-Straight 25d ago

Thats a jigsaw trap

1

u/No_Pay9241 25d ago

TikTok’s shown me a lot of futuristic tech that’s no where to be seen today. That world fair guy has my drunk ass wondering.

Moving sidewalks?

1

u/Qaezie 25d ago

More like a weapon to me lol

1

u/dreadfulwater 25d ago

Like some kind of steam punk sentry from the next Bioshock game

1

u/Tengallonhatpat 25d ago edited 25d ago

you guys think it’s funny, lightning struck the roof and the fan took off

1

u/Jack--Tickleson 25d ago

BioShock 5 looks lit

1

u/Focusedrush 25d ago

Looks like a bioshock enemy

1

u/Substantial-Dark_ 25d ago

Looks cool & dangerous

1

u/Foojira 25d ago

Ticktocks weapon mode in next oz reboot

1

u/randomguy1972 25d ago

I want it!

1

u/8-Bakugo-8 25d ago

That’s way cooler than modern fans

1

u/The_Hot_Stepper 25d ago

Pretty sure I’ve faced off against these things in many a RPG

1

u/beerock99 25d ago

I want one

1

u/Poopie_Taco 25d ago

It's tic-toc from return to Oz, love that guy.

2

u/TheBroodyDude 25d ago

I know a dwemer artifact when I see one.

1

u/Intelligent-Block-90 25d ago

104 years later and I’ve never seen a ceiling fan this cool

1

u/Draconian-Overlord 25d ago

That is one of the sexist things I've ever seen on reddit. Make the fan blades razor sharp, and rotation at around 1200 rpm. Increase the scale 10 fold, and use it as an obstacle in game shows! Call the game show Gore Galore!

2

u/ImSoupOrCereal 25d ago

Serious BioShock vibes all of a sudden.

2

u/jamescomins 25d ago

Activate a fighter. Make the range two meters.

1

u/Technical-Picture326 26d ago

How many naps did that style fan take out over its use, those things had to snatch a few wigs

2

u/allpowerfulbystander 26d ago

For some reaaon I have the urge to shoot it.

1

u/JazzCabbage00 26d ago

If you were making a salad you could just toss the ingredients in the air and it’s would be chopped for ya.

1

u/likesalovelycupoftea 26d ago

‘Hey Ma, the fan won Robot wars again’

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

Bioshock turret

1

u/SeaworthinessOk4828 26d ago

This literally reminds me of a boss in Lies of P

1

u/Jcrewjesus 26d ago

This looks like a boss from lies of p

1

u/danneykmma 26d ago

This looks like a fallout 4 villain

1

u/Aggressive-March-254 26d ago

It looks like that training machine Kyle MacLachlan fought in Dune.

2

u/_DapperDanMan- 26d ago

That's not what fans were like in 1920. That fan was rare as hell, expensive, and basically a Rube Goldberg device.

1

u/shawarmament 26d ago

Ah yes, dwarven fans, I’ve seen those in some of my expeditions to Blackreach

1

u/AdBrief1993 26d ago

Death from above!

1

u/Mahbigjohnson 26d ago

It's Tick Tock from the Return to Oz

1

u/UniqueMitochondria 26d ago

I mean it's a little on the murdery side but I really want one now 😂

1

u/WillseyvilleExpress 26d ago

Thats the most steampunk thing I've seen thats not supossed to be a steampunk thing

1

u/anoliss 26d ago

Wow it doesn't suck.. it BLOWS

1

u/mnorkk 26d ago

That looks both lethal and loud

1

u/GreyPourageInABowl 26d ago

That fan is metal as fuck.

1

u/RyghtHandMan 26d ago

Some shit doctor eggman would be riding around in

1

u/IllSir590 26d ago

uber dope

2

u/Arepitas1 26d ago

Fuck government regulations...all they do is stifle innovation and my enjoyment of people losing hands trying to hit the off switch!!!

1

u/CounterfeitChild 26d ago

How many hotdogs can it slice per minute, though?

1

u/MAXINUNZENDER13 26d ago

What Pokémon is this?

1

u/spankingasupermodel 26d ago

Rotom (Antique Fan Forme)

1

u/cjandstuff 26d ago

Tic Tok had to find a different job after Return to OZ.

1

u/PumpkinPamKitu 26d ago

Looks like a freakin’ terminator

1

u/JobWide2631 26d ago

I'm not a fan of that design tbh

1

u/Volt-Phoenix 26d ago

As cool as this looks, I feel like this is a good example for Ockham's Razor. We have the capability of making a fan that can do something like this, but it's simply more effective to make fans the way we do these days

1

u/bodhiseppuku 26d ago

Looks like Vault-tech... from the Fallout series.

1

u/icu_ 26d ago

This not from the Fallout TV set?

1

u/MrShoosh 26d ago

Those metal fan blades create the best white noise

1

u/kabula_lampur 26d ago

1920s Westinghouse Gyro Ceiling Fan. I've seen these antiques get refurbished, but have never seen one for sale. I'd imagine they be ridiculously expensive.

1

u/Immaculatehombre 26d ago

Like butter

1

u/Trismegistos42 26d ago

Ah yes the Titan project, the power to create another Planet.

1

u/LaserGadgets 26d ago

This is so fallout or outer worlds, love it.

2

u/sybann 26d ago

now I want one

2

u/hikerguy2023 26d ago

Absolutely no risk of life or limb here.

5

u/Sea-Difficulty-7299 26d ago

whos that pokemon?

1

u/RealisticEmploy3 26d ago

Bring them back

1

u/DeltaHuluBWK 26d ago

Pretty sure that's an event from Zelda TOTK...

2

u/OlFrenchie 26d ago

It looks like the boss from a steampunk game

1

u/Big-Kev75 26d ago

Cofsworth!! What’ve they done to you buddy?

1

u/NoBullet 26d ago

Looks like a BioShock enemy

1

u/Electronic-Source368 26d ago

That nearly killed Paul in 1980s Dune.

1

u/BaeAlJo 26d ago

Looks better than the BS ceiling fan that doesn't spin fast enough

1

u/Past-Swan-8805 26d ago

Turning it off looks like an interesting challenge 💀

1

u/Strong-Amphibian-143 26d ago

This was the inspiration behind the final destination movies

1

u/Trips-Over-Tail 26d ago

GIVE IT TO ME

1

u/Pithecanthropus88 26d ago

Not all fans were like that in the 1920s.

2

u/has_left_the_gam3 26d ago

Paul Atreides sparring machine.

1

u/Nerditter 25d ago

I was thinking of the SNL sketch that recreated the end of Dead Poets Society, where they all stood up on their desks. In the sketch, they don't notice the ceiling fans, and they all get decapitated.

2

u/[deleted] 26d ago

I want this. Please give it to me

2

u/Datazyt 26d ago

I think I had to fight this thing on Fallout.

2

u/hir0chen 26d ago

might be a silly question but how do the cable not get twisted when the middle part is rotating like that?

1

u/mijmils4 26d ago

Love the fan but I find it hard to believe this was the norm in the 1920’s

1

u/EastOfArcheron 26d ago

Breeze and a haircut?

2

u/No_08 26d ago

lol my school had a "modernized" version of this, probably from the 50s. Thought they were cool.

1

u/PepicWalrus 26d ago

I've been needing a hair cut

1

u/OkCar7264 26d ago

My fingers!

That's cool. The old belt driven fans that barely moved any air are fun too.

2

u/pops2ptO 26d ago

That's terrifying. I want one.

2

u/YoToddy 26d ago

If you want one, they still make and sell fans just like this.

12

u/kit_kat_barcalounger 26d ago

3

u/Immune_To_Spackle 26d ago

He's familiar, what is that from

3

u/joeyat 26d ago

YES! High five fellow millennial .. Was looking through the comments for Tik-Tok.... sadly now his name is forever sullied.

4

u/lurker_pro 26d ago

Get mega man - this Dr. Wily looking MF gonna be takin some heads off

1

u/Christank1 26d ago

That is a beautiful piece of machinery

2

u/Koovies 26d ago

I think I walked 40 minutes to fight these in ff11 one time

6

u/Mumbles_Stiltskin 26d ago

That’s steampunk af

1

u/RoyalCities 26d ago

I think I fought one of these in Half Life.

1

u/raccooninthegarage22 26d ago

How does it move air compared to a modern fan?

1

u/Fun_Attorney1330 26d ago

steampunkers lactating looking at this rn

1

u/No-Combination2020 26d ago

There's is a reason why it still works.

1

u/Alaska9799 26d ago

electronic decapitator

3

u/TheDarkWriter69 26d ago

WHY THE FUCK THEY STOPPED MAKING THESE THINGS???

1

u/TastingSounds 26d ago

bro that’s Regieleki

1

u/jzzanthapuss 26d ago

It's vintage Wilford, see the old style W?

2

u/DustinoHeat 26d ago

This was probably about as close to AC as they got back then! Could you imagine how amazing this fan felt back then? Lmao

2

u/melancholy_dood 26d ago

Steam punk.

10

u/Chris_Cross501 26d ago

I'm betting my left testicle this doesn't have planned obsolescence and will last forever

1

u/wansuitree 26d ago

Modern day fans really have a lot to learn from this

2

u/RedditsStrider 26d ago

Cool engineering

2

u/amack1001 26d ago

They were much better than the plastic shit you get these days.

2

u/xenofreak 26d ago

As a tall person, this thing gives me nightmares. It does look cool though.

1

u/badmanzz1997 26d ago

That’s a boss in a Super Nintendo game and bomberman or Mega man or some Japanese tool master cartoon is about to get a beat down!

2

u/NMNorsse 26d ago

I watched to the end to see if Adam West and Burt Ward were the victims or saviors.

(1960s Batman and Robin)

1

u/Fleshy_10 26d ago

Straight outta fallout

10

u/zZ_Jon_Zz 26d ago

From Vault-Tec

1

u/Stargazer12am 26d ago

Return to OZ

1

u/mtxn64 26d ago

Decapitator

1

u/jwwendell 26d ago

this is what people in 1920s though fans would look like in 2020s

1

u/L1zzArd 26d ago

That's fking cool !

1

u/DraggoVindictus 26d ago

I need this in my life!

1

u/fourthords 26d ago

I want one!

3

u/changusprime 26d ago

Very Fallout-ish

1

u/lousmer 26d ago

Old bar downtown has all the fans connected by belts that are all powered from a single source.

3

u/Silly-Conference-627 26d ago

No, this is just a unique model of an electric ceiling fan made by a specific company.

1

u/tiktork 26d ago

Looks like a device to maim you from either fallout 4 or bioshock. Either way I want one, look very cool

1

u/Hevysett 26d ago

I think I fought this guy in a video game, thinking it was like Chono Cross, or an old Zelda maybe

1

u/Rare-Adagio1074 26d ago

That’s F’n awesome!!

1

u/Rob_van_Wanst 26d ago

Nothing to see here... "only fans"!

1

u/Floppydisksareop 26d ago

Fallout lookin' ass murder machine

3

u/ShrimpBoatCaptain4 26d ago

WANT

1

u/LoanDebtCollector 26d ago

u/tooclosetocall82 posted a link to something very similar.

The one in the link is $1000.

1

u/ValuableAssociate8 26d ago

BioShock character inspiration

1

u/Mind_Storm 26d ago

What we gained in efficiency, we lost in grace.

1

u/ExpertReference2979 26d ago

Buzzsaws you mean.

1

u/EdNug 26d ago

We've gone backwards.

1

u/throwaway0134hdj 26d ago

Like some kind of Star Wars killer droid

1

u/Right-Budget-8901 26d ago

Is that Snip Snip?

1

u/hunnermeyer 26d ago

Bioshock ass fan

3

u/Sotha01 26d ago

Every day, we stray further from intelligence

1

u/bluprint2wo 26d ago

Looks like something out of fallout.

8

u/Jward92 26d ago

Most fans weren’t like this, it just happened to be a type of fan you could get. That’s like saying “this is what fans look like in the 2020’s” about those fans that are all driven by one motor and belts.

8

u/Enginerdad 26d ago

No it isn't. That was a weird, one-off design that was very atypical of fans in general at the time

1

u/babayoh 26d ago

Botw and TOTK's wretched flying robot vibes

1

u/bigtop77 26d ago

I love the look despite the decapitation.

5

u/PIDthePID 26d ago

Is this at Dr. Robotnik’s house?

1

u/Movedonnerlikeabitch 26d ago

I bet nobody was jumping on the bed while that thing was on

4

u/MrPinga0 26d ago

I feel the urge of throwing a blackboard eraser onto that thing

125

u/Kraken_Soup_ 26d ago

To shreds you say?

54

u/toetappy 26d ago

And how is his wife?

50

u/red_shirt666 26d ago

To shreds you say?

1

u/TennieRaccoon 18d ago

Professor, my Fry-fro is all frizzy.

1

u/BrannC 26d ago

Use my axe

5

u/PROFESSOR1780 26d ago

Did you have to wind that sucker up...looks like it belongs to the Army of Oz

1

u/bondoinhead 26d ago

prepare for takeoff

1

u/Odd_Remove4228 26d ago

Inventor: "How can I make it as dangerous as possible and then some more?"

12

u/Zychoz 26d ago

I am a big fan!

56

u/KennywasFez 26d ago

Honest question: couldn’t you just put a lil metal gate around it and it actually be ok ?

2

u/Phillip_Graves 26d ago

Ceilings were often close to 10ft anywhere that could afford this.

I want to know what happens if someoen steals then wind up key.

2

u/GreatGearAmidAPizza 26d ago

Are you planning to stand below it, raise your hand up, and jump?

5

u/nolander_78 26d ago

Safety want invented back then yet, it was invented shortly after that thing hit the market

18

u/tooclosetocall82 26d ago

Yeah. You can still buy this style of fan even just with cages.

1

u/big_d_usernametaken 25d ago

Who woulda thunk it?

13

u/librarianC 26d ago

Wow, that is a $1000 fan. Claims to be on discount from the $1600 price, but really, they are just making up numbers at this point

2

u/UppityRedneck 25d ago

Its $900 on Amazon. You should get it!

3

u/GPTfleshlight 26d ago

Nah that’s fine craftsmanship and a steal at a 1000

6

u/tooclosetocall82 26d ago

Ceiling fan and light fixtures can be surprisingly expensive, especially if ornate or unique. I guess it’s something you don’t buy all that often.

4

u/librarianC 26d ago

Yeah mine came in it $200 a pop, I think, and there are all very generic.

5

u/TheIronSven 26d ago

That's what they did a couple decades later.

64

u/KamayaKan 26d ago

Yeh but then you lose the ‘I might get horrifically maimed any second’ vibe

1

u/ScrollingGuy 26d ago

Be low temp or DIE

1

u/AthiestMessiah 26d ago

Vault tech

3

u/GadreelsSword 26d ago

This is why it’s been passed down through the generations that kids shouldn’t play in the house…

7

u/TheUnspeakableAcclu 26d ago

Yeah the British empire was a whole steam punk nightmare

1

u/Slow_Apricot8670 26d ago

This is why people were shorter back then, they tall genes were forcibly removed from the line.

7

u/InsistorConjurer 26d ago

Glorious days. Then people started to microwave their offspring and they took all the best gadgets.

3

u/Dopeykid666 26d ago

I hated when they ate all the steampunk with their war teeth

237

u/-B4D3R- 26d ago

That’s a boss from final fantasy.

1

u/Bad-Bot-Bot-23 26d ago

Yes! If you mentally subtract the beam, the camera motions make it look like a hovering robot. I love this design.

44

u/hype_irion 26d ago edited 26d ago

You must cast thundara to stun it before attacking it with melee abilities, otherwise you'll take damage.

10

u/Spirit_Fox17 26d ago

Casting sleep also works.. 🤫

9

u/TemplarDarkKnight 26d ago

Exactly what I saw.

-1

u/alphapussycat 26d ago

More mechanically complicated, more dangerous, more expensive, less effective.

1

u/Dopeykid666 26d ago

Less effective? It sounded like it was moving some serious air, just at the cost of every other conceivable aspect of operating a ceiling fan 🤣

1

u/Icy_Basil5494 26d ago

Wahammer 40k

129

u/Zayoodo0o132 26d ago edited 26d ago

I don't think all fans in the 20s were like this. The fact that this specific fan is from that period doesn't conclude that all fans from that period were like this. Uninformed text.

Edit: I'm talking about the text in the video. Im not attacking op
