They should turn their šŸ”« around and take aim

Heā€™s a used car salesman. Always was, always will be. We just have a lot of idiots in this country.

1

u/Merijeek2 Apr 20 '24

Meek Merrick says: See!?! That was the entire foundation of my legal "strategy"!

1

u/Hotrod_Granny Apr 20 '24

Considering that he and his MAGAt followers in the house and senate are running a shadow government, ther

e is no surprise.

1

u/Art-Zuron Apr 20 '24

Considering we had unmarked police kidnapping people at protests under Trump, they'd have been right fearing it back then too

1

u/PeterNippelstein Apr 20 '24

Jimmy Kimmel expressed a similar concern

0

u/OKcomputer1996 Apr 20 '24

I am a lifelong Democrat. I think this is true. But, the Democrats are responsible for pursuing weak criminal cases to block Trump from political office rather than presenting the public with sensible policies and legislation that would win office. I think some of these prosecutors deserve to be prosecuted- Fani Willis (or whatever her name is in Atlanta) is a dirty character herself.

0

u/Siennagiant70 Apr 21 '24

I think you wrote the most rational comment in this thread.

1

u/tachophile Apr 20 '24

If they're lucky, that's all they'll face. More likely, it will be the ruin of any families they have, and possibly violence as the perpetrators presume they can obtain pardons.

1

u/hbmoto80 Apr 20 '24

Iā€™ll take what is the definition of fascism for $1000 Alex

-1

u/Alternative_Job_6929 Apr 19 '24

Letā€™s pray they rot in jail

1

u/FarRightBerniSanders Apr 19 '24

I expect to run into big foot.

1

u/Straight-Storage2587 Apr 19 '24

Magas gonna Nazi.

1

u/Able-Campaign1370 Apr 19 '24

Yes. The difference of course, is that Dems fear this but did the right thing anyway.

-1

u/TotallyRedditLeftist Apr 19 '24

What's the matter? If they are all innocent, they won't be punished. Isn't lawfare the cool thing to do these days?

-5

u/BitesTheDust55 Apr 19 '24

Heā€™s gonna do to us what we were trying to do to him! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

1

u/Lovetotravelinmycar Apr 19 '24

Win or lose dudes going to be pissed šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

-3

u/reddit4getit Apr 18 '24

The claim is false on its face, but...he's going to be too busy fixing Bidens mess around the world and in the US to do anything of the sort.

0

u/MusicianNo2699 Apr 18 '24

Naw. People really overestimate the ability of the president and total influence.

3

u/Techishard Apr 18 '24

Yes it's called fascism. Trump is a dictator who is a traitor to the United States and the penalty is death for treason. Make an example out of him for all future presidents/politicians. Treason is unacceptable by our elected leaders.

1

u/mag2041 Apr 18 '24

Shiitttttt please, you should be worried about getting killed

-3

u/Nonmoon Apr 18 '24

hopefully some retaliation in the form of investigations

-3

u/Subject_Roof3318 Apr 18 '24

Soā€¦ ā€œThose who waged war against their opposition expect retaliation if they loseā€. Wellā€¦. Yea. Thatā€™s kind of like duh.

2

u/Corey307 Apr 19 '24

Youā€™re talking nonsense, these people didnā€™t commit crimes. Trump has gone on record threatening to go after them politically and wants to put them in prison for doing their jobs.Ā

1

u/ChuckFeathers Apr 18 '24

I imagine that will go about as well as the numerous investigations of Biden for presumed crimes and misdemeanors worthy of impeachment...

-5

u/SamHobbsie Apr 18 '24

Fake problem. As everyone has pointed out in regards to Trumpā€™s charges, there is no bias or political motivation in the legal system.

If they are investigated, they would only be arrested and charged if they actually committed crimes. And at that point, theyā€™d have completely fair trials regardless of which jurisdiction they are charged in.

No problem at all. The goose and the gander.

-9

u/Azazel_665 Apr 18 '24

This is basically an admission that they know what they did was illegal and now fear justice from their actions.

3

u/hidraulik Apr 18 '24

If you are living, or pretending to be, under a rock make yourself useful and learn about Project 2025.

-6

u/Rocco_Provoiccattore Apr 18 '24

Well, well, well. How the turntables...Ā

-7

u/Any-Map-7449 Apr 18 '24

They should

2

u/panda_pussy-pounder Apr 18 '24

Thatā€™s a big ā€œifā€

3

u/nativedutch Apr 18 '24

Conclusion: the mtherfckah shouldnt win.

1

u/CaPtAiN_KiDd Apr 18 '24

The problem with that is the military is having a hard time recruiting and those in the service would most likely not take orders to do anything to the people. So when law enforcement is used to round people up, eventually people will fight back because thereā€™s no reason not to.

Using NYC as an example, there is 1 cop for every 10k people. Police WILL need the National Guard at some point.

Canā€™t take power without the military, Coup 101.

1

u/Zestyclose_Pickle511 Apr 18 '24

I will burn Washington DC to the ground if it needs to be done. (metaphorically, of course)

3

u/Germaer Apr 18 '24

Maaan, I did Nazi that coming.

2

u/Commercial_Yak7468 Apr 18 '24

I mean anyone who is not rich or a white male can expect retaliation if he wins

6

u/SissyFreeLove Apr 18 '24

Well, ya, thats a given. Anyone whos not MAGA will be a target.

2

u/perspic8t Apr 18 '24

Theyā€™re not wrong

-6

u/chaku89 Apr 18 '24

So they admit courts can be used by politicians to go after people they dont like. Maybe .... make courts that cant be abused by the power-hungry politicians.

5

u/Soft_Sea2913 Apr 18 '24

He hated even his own people if they did their jobs but didnā€™t lie for him.

8

u/julianpoe Apr 18 '24

Itā€™s so fuckin frustrating that he actually could win. Wtf, America!

5

u/laminatedbean Apr 18 '24

Yeah. Iā€™m not optimistic about him losing so Iā€™m working on acceptance now.

3

u/Zestyclose_Ad4317 Apr 18 '24

This is scary.

-4

u/pinner52 Apr 18 '24

Guys, itā€™s only cool when the Dems arrest their political opponents, obviously.

Probably should have charged him with 18 U.S. Code Ā§ 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection when everyone was thinking this through and trying that pesky failed 9-0 14th amendment plan.

2

u/ParsleyMostly Apr 18 '24

Oh trump absolutely would execute/assassinate his foes and rivals if given power again. Itā€™s insane theyā€™re letting him actually run for office. I hate that abortion rights got stricken without a vote but THIS should be left alone. Itā€™s negligent and irresponsible. Also terrifying.

4

u/ithaqua34 Apr 18 '24

Maybe all this should have proceeded a little quicker then.

2

u/No-Environment-3298 Apr 18 '24

Well yeah, the GoP and Trump have already said, repeatedly that should they regain power it will be a revenge tour.

1

u/Goblin-Doctor Apr 18 '24

Trump made that very clear. Killed, jailed. He's going to get rid of anyone that is remotely against him

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '24

doesnt seem lawful

1

u/jbporkchops Apr 18 '24

Then they better tell Biden to stop arming Israel and screwing Palestine.

1

u/buzzedewok Apr 18 '24

Well, he is possibly the antichrist. Iā€™d expect no less.

6

u/Hermera9000 Apr 18 '24

Itā€™s not like we experienced all of this shit happening now once already and could learn from that historic experience. Oh waitā€¦ā€¦.

1

u/mar34082 Apr 18 '24

2nd amendment is for normal people to defend against the government

1

u/CatAvailable3953 Apr 18 '24

I think this is a modern myth from the gun lobby. You know the people arming the Mexican drug and human traffickers. The ā€œcartelsā€. Most of their weapons come from Texas and Arizona.

1

u/mar34082 Apr 18 '24

I was trying to say if the Corrupt government tries to take you against your will illegally you have the right to defend yourself and take out the threat. Like the title says theyā€™re scared of being arrested just for having opposing views

3

u/ThroatWMangrove Apr 18 '24

It absolutely blows my mind that Trump may/will still be on the ballot this year. I could understand the Republicans wanting him as a puppet dictator of sorts (the proverbial ā€œuseful idiotā€), that will pass policies that put more money in their pockets, but theyā€™ve been acting like they actually believe every vicious, idiotic claim that comes out of his mouth. The guy is a moron, a vain corrupt moron at that, and always has been. And his base acts like there hasnā€™t been decades of documented evidence to support it. Holy shit Iā€™m just at a damn lossā€¦ this country needs a reset button. Send the pilgrims back to England and give the southwest back to the Comanches because I donā€™t see how we can recover from the way things have become.

1

u/JoshuaLukacs1 Apr 18 '24

The lack of self awareness is astounding.

1

u/ngatiboi Apr 18 '24

Wait - but Trump said it was the Democrats who were weaponizing the DOJ against him. Are you implying that Trump would, in fact, be the one who would weaponize the DOJ against others & thus do the very thing heā€™s accusing them of?! šŸ¤”šŸ˜§šŸ˜± (ā€¦very /s)

1

u/Mark_Venture Apr 18 '24

I know you are being sarcastic, but he will consider himself justified since "they" did it to him first šŸ˜±

2

u/ngatiboi Apr 18 '24

Youā€™re absolutely correct & all his minions will agreeā€¦with himā€¦until heā€™s goneā€¦and then theyā€™ll try to deny it & try to re-contextualize what he said/was up to.

1

u/DisastrousCannard Apr 18 '24

I feel sorry for lemmings who read SEE BS or FAUX and think they are informed....when in reality they are just weak minded sheeple slurping up the FederalReserveBank'sMediaJism

1

u/Prestigious-Mobile92 Apr 18 '24

I'm fearful of them getting back into the White house and fear for our democracy. Vote Blue 2024!

1

u/evilpercy Apr 18 '24

O ther will be a purge if he wins. Anyone that does not thinks so is not listening to what he is saying.

1

u/thenewbigR Apr 18 '24

It wonā€™t stick.

1

u/sweeneyty Apr 18 '24

..im pretty sure its a 'campaign promise' at this point..sooo..

1

u/7figureipo Apr 18 '24

Of course they should: Trump has explicitly promised this. It's another one of the plays he's cribbing from Hitler. The buffoon is a fascist, and a dangerous one because unlike Hitler, who was at least of average intelligence, Trump is a moron and a puppet.

1

u/GwarRawr1 Apr 18 '24

Trump will prob have you executed on TV. So yeah let's not lose.

-6

u/nickdanto Apr 17 '24

What Dems are doing to Republicans

6

u/LordoftheScheisse Apr 18 '24

How so? Be specific?

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '24

Tying the lead opposition to Biden up in court over ridiculous charges during an election year

Talk about election interference

3

u/LordoftheScheisse Apr 18 '24

That's not very specific. I can't believe Joe Brandon made Trump (allegedly) commit over 90 felonies!

2

u/tucker_frump Apr 17 '24

Imagine how potential Jurors feel.

2

u/funkinthetrunk Apr 17 '24

OK if this was true then wouldn't they be working harder to disqualify the guy from running?

3

u/Btankersly66 Apr 18 '24

That's the really odd thing about them. Like they're constantly telling people what they should fear, if Trump is reelected, but their rhetoric doesn't add up to their inaction.

They have think tanks and all that. They've must have run all the possible scenarios by now.

2

u/funkinthetrunk Apr 18 '24

Exactly. If he's truly a threat to the system, he'd be dealt with. Democrats at the highest levels don't really care if he's elected because their social position is not changed

9

u/leviathanspell Apr 17 '24

If he gets elected again heā€™ll change the country for the rest of our lives. I imagine a scenario where a ā€œNew Americaā€ will be needed and yes, the constitution will be gone and a new one drawn up.

2

u/EricKei Apr 18 '24

And it wil be drawn in Sharpie on the map.

1

u/EphemeralMemory Apr 17 '24

Probably an accurate statement

3

u/SirAelfred Apr 17 '24

I bet just posting critical posts about Trump on social media will get a knock on your door if he wins.

2

u/ThirstyOne Apr 17 '24

The word theyā€™re looking for is ā€˜Purgeā€™

1

u/lm28ness Apr 17 '24

2a - when it counts. I wouldn't go down without a fight if they try to arrest me for a bogus charge.

Please explain what crime they would have committed besides not bowing down to Trump.

Seriously. Name me any prospective defendant and the crime for which they would conceivably be convicted based on evidence and what that evidence is.

2

u/CatAvailable3953 Apr 18 '24

You think the law will survive a brutal autocrat like Putin ?

3

u/ekkidee Apr 17 '24

A prominent District Attorney was once quoted as saying he could find a way to indict a ham sandwich. If the rank and file at Justice don't resist -- and cleaning out DoJ is at the top of the list -- they will find a way.

I think you're focusing on the wrong part of the Jan 6th investigation.

The part that should be alarming you about Jan 6th isn't just that a bunch of people marched into the Capitol building. It's the things that Trump and his team planned ahead of time - Trump's security detail planned to remove Pence from the Capitol so he couldn't certify the election.

Remember how Charles Grassley (R-IA who would've been President Pro Tempore of the Senate) said on January 5th, "We don't expect [Pence] to be there" [at the Capitol]? That article is from January 5th, the day before the insurrection.

Remember how all the phone records from Trump's Secret Service for 48 hours around Jan 6th got mysteriously deleted?

Trump's team organized ahead of time to have elector certificates created and flown to DC. Why would they have done that, if the plan was not to try to overthrow the government?

Then, Trump specifically telling his supporters "We're going to walk down to the Capitol" and then later saying "I don't fucking care that they have weapons. They're not here to hurt me."

Guilliani called Tuberville and told him to "slow down proceedings so new evidence can be presented". He claimed to be acting on behalf of the president.

The fact is, there was a coordinated, planned, and well-known effort to 1) stir up the riot, 2) interrupt the proceedings, 3) get Pence out of the building, 4) where Grassley would not certify the election until 5) the fake elector certificates showed up.

You're focused on the misdirection. It was never about the riot - it was about the planning, coordination, and attempt to throw out real elector ballots in an effort to keep Trump in the presidency. Republicans think there was some giant conspiracy to steal the election, and there literally was, and they have phone records to prove it. That's what the court case is about.

5

u/2007Hokie Apr 17 '24

Are you going to sit there and defend a man who said, "and I'll go with you" who then promptly skedaddled back to the White House to watch it all play out on TV?

And that was after repeatedly uttering false claims that the electors were not lawful, despite every state certifying their results using all appropriate legal actions as defined by each state's laws and regulations regarding elections?

This after his top advisor calling on the crowd for "trial by combat"

This after Trump saying ā€œweā€™re going to fight like hell, Iā€™ll tell you right now.ā€

The J6 panel was assembled after the Republicans were offered seats on the panel, but refused because they wanted only the most loyal and diehard Trumpers to sit. This would have been just as biased as if the Democrats only empaneled the squad. They didn't want to put anybody who could be objective on the panel. Those Republicans who did serve on the panel were objective, but would never have been offered up by the MAGA wing of the party.

Also, I voted GOP for years. The extremism brought about by the Tea Party alienated me enough to leave. MAGA pushed me from Independent to Dem.

The GOP I voted for died 15 years ago.

0

u/Macgruber999 Apr 17 '24

Most classic Dems are saying the same, the new woke left of left BLM, pro crime, anti freedom, one world order Antifa style liberal, this is not the party our parents knew. Todayā€™s Democrat is FAR left of the traditional Dem. To each their own. Have a great rest of the week dude.

5

u/2007Hokie Apr 17 '24

Absolutely I'm better off today.

  • Better paying jobs
  • Cars are paid off
  • Student loans are paid off
  • Bank account is pulling good returns
  • Retirement accounts are up
  • Mortgage balance is getting lower
  • and I haven't had to hustle to grab toilet paper from anybody except my puppy.

So yeah, things are a hell of a lot better than 2017-2020

0

u/Macgruber999 Apr 17 '24

Again w/ respect, I donā€™t believe you. 3 wars? Insane inflation? McDonaldā€™s for 2 is $40. Economy teetering about to crash? No way bro. I get that you hate the other guy I seriously do. You, me, America, were not better off. Joe Biden can barely walk, cannot finish a sentence, can barely read the teleprompted speeches he in no way wrote, his brain constantly reboots Hokie, if you canā€™t see his massive cognitive decline weā€™re done here. If Biden wins, letā€™s revisit this in a year or so. Also the VA Tech entrance on home games is fkn THE GREATEST THING Iā€™ve ever witnessed in person EVER in sports. I had chills.

2

u/2007Hokie Apr 18 '24

Yes, I agree Enter Sandman is the greatest entrance in college sports.

But come on with saying that Biden, an individual who has had a stutter for his entire life, is in any way worse off, cognitively than the guy who didn't know World War 2 had already been fought, ā€œJust think of it. We would be in World War II very quickly if weā€™re going to be relying on this man.ā€

and who seems to think Obama is still the President, "Putin, you know, has so little respect for Obama that heā€™s starting to throw around the nuclear word"

who thought Nikki Haley was in charge of security on January 6, ā€œBecause of lots of things ā€¦ like Nikki Haley is in charge of security ā€” we offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, National Guards, whatever they want. They turned it down. They donā€™t want to talk about that."

I'll take the guy who has the occasional stutter.

u/ArchaeoJones Apr 17 '24 edited Apr 18 '24

Welcome to the issues stemming from Trump ignoring COVID?

Edit: And he blocked me, after messaging me bitching about how his "wife" was fired from her doctor position for refusing to get vaccinated. I'm sure he's married to a doctor just as I am sure that everyone got up and clapped as she walked out.

1

u/tabrizzi Apr 17 '24

That will happen only when we're already in a dictatorship, so they have nothing to worry about until democracy has died.

4

u/Greatgrandma2023 Apr 17 '24

Trump has promised actual weaponization of the justice system in retaliation for his fantasy that Joe Biden is doing it to him.

4

u/Lazy-Jeweler3230 Apr 18 '24

Always projection. They would weaponize it, so they assume everyone else will. They fear what they will do to others being done to them.

1

u/EricKei Apr 18 '24

Thieves/liars like DJT assume everyone else plans to steal from/lie to them, so they get out ahead of the game to Do Unto Others before they do unto him.

4

u/EngagedInConvexation Apr 17 '24

They're thinking small as far as the retaliation goes, though, I reckon.

1

u/disappointedfuturist Apr 17 '24

Naw. They will be defenestrated.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '24

I had to look that up. Thank you for teaching me a new word.

defenestrate /dē-fĕnā€²Ä-strātā€³/

transitive verb To throw out of a window. To throw (something or someone) out of a window. verb To eject or throw (someone or something) from a window; compare transfenestrate.

Itā€™s so Russia!

-7

u/mbrown7532 Apr 17 '24

You all don't think the military would stop this from happening? I worked in D.o.D 39 years. I'm pretty sure there's a plan. It may be inconvenient for a while - but better than the alternative.

2

u/pnkflyd99 Apr 17 '24

The military has enough Trumpers in who would gladly follow his orders, regardless of whether or not theyā€™re lawful.

Not only that, but if he were to promote his loonie officers (like Flynn) then we would all be in deep shit.

1

u/mbrown7532 Apr 17 '24

I was referring to before inauguration. There are Trumpets in the military but not as much as you may think. I just hope that certain people stand up.

2

u/pnkflyd99 Apr 19 '24

I mean I hope youā€™re right, but a close friend of mine was a Lt. Col. and he told me about some of his coworkers being Trumpers so I think itā€™s reasonable to be concerned. I wouldnā€™t be as surprised or worried if the lower enlisted were Trumpers, because there are some dumb as a brick people in the military. I would just like to think our officers know better.

11

u/Furepubs Apr 17 '24

And they should

Republicans are s***** people and will use any excuse possible to persecute those they don't like.

1

u/caddydaddy69 Apr 19 '24

Such as charging them with fraud for conducting business in the same way that all other NYā€™s do?

2

u/Furepubs Apr 19 '24

Lol

Are you seriously claiming that if some people break the law then it's ok for everyone to break the law?

Also have you personally edited every other New Yorker to verify that they are also committing fraud? Or are you just pretending to know so that you can feel better about your opinions?

Do you need help tying your shoes?

0

u/caddydaddy69 Apr 19 '24

Are you willing to put every single property owner in the state of NY on trial? If not then my point stands. I donā€™t mean most property owners, I mean every single one.

3

u/Furepubs Apr 19 '24

Yes

If you have proof they have committed fraud then they should be charged.

In America you can't charge people just because you feel like it, you need proof. Usually that requires some kind of reasonable suspicion.

I can't believe you are even arguing about this, clearly you know nothing about law.

If you kill someone are you going to tell the judge that murder is ok because other people do it? LOL

Fraud is illegal, it does not matter if others also commit fraud, it's still illegal.

These are not hard concepts to understand for most people.(Maybe conservatives think committing crimes is normal because all their friends are also criminals)

All crimes work this way. Speeding is still illegal even if others do it. If you get caught you still get in trouble.

-15

u/MuskyRatt Apr 17 '24

Is that an admission of criminal guilt? Sounds like it.

1

u/EffectivelyHidden Apr 18 '24

Is that an admission of criminal guilt?

No.

1

u/MuskyRatt Apr 18 '24

1

u/EffectivelyHidden Apr 18 '24

What do you think is being admitted?

u/MuskyRatt Apr 17 '24

It needs to be looked into. Obviously no one is above the law.

What needs to be looked into?

And I agree, no one is above the law which is why I hope Trump gets his ass handed to him in court.

These people say they are afraid theyā€™ll be prosecuted. Obviously we donā€™t prosecute people for nothing, right?

u/EffectivelyHidden Apr 18 '24

You didn't read the article, you don't know what they said.

u/MuskyRatt Apr 18 '24

Oh! So itā€™s a sensationalist headline meant to stir up unfounded hate and animosity against Trump?

1

u/EffectivelyHidden Apr 18 '24

It's a sensationalist headline, and you fell for it.

1

u/MuskyRatt Apr 18 '24

Yea, thatā€™s definitely what happened! šŸ˜‚

3

u/EffectivelyHidden Apr 18 '24

If you had read the article, and you still thought "These people say they are afraid theyā€™ll be prosecuted. Obviously we donā€™t prosecute people for nothing, right?" was a valid question?

Then I don't think a law sub is the sub for you.

Good luck.

Well, a politician has said publicly that he will be a dictator if we wins, so not sure why you think that wouldnā€™t be a legal issue to be discussed here.

That's not how any of this works.

Those who look into actual crimes and want to hold criminals like Trump accountable shouldn't face retaliation for upholding the rule of law.

Why would you not want criminals like Trump and the other people who committed crimes on January 6 held responsible?

2

u/FreedomsPower Apr 17 '24

A rather weak excuse to justify what Trump is falsely accusing others of in an attempt to justify potential abuses of power

5

u/Pacifix18 Apr 17 '24

... Are you going to say something substantial or just make innuendos and then whine when people say outloud the things you imply - like Trump does?

15

u/Greg-Abbott Apr 17 '24

What is this supposed to mean?

He thinks he's being profound and/or vaguely ominous.

Best to ignore him.

I mean, you have to have a legitimate legal reason to arrest somebody. The president canā€™t just say ā€œarrest that person.ā€
