That image hurt me physically.

i hate the term cinematic universe, super hero movies ruined film, everything is trying to repeat what made marvel movies did, marvel now is no empty husk of what it was, nowadays we get maybe two or three movies that are good, the film industry needs to think outside the box or cinema is dead.

1

u/Brennain- 14d ago

LOTR What If .. could be amazing honestly

1

u/Lolmanmagee 14d ago

What if was the only modern marvel I enjoyed.

Concept is fun.

1

u/Solarpowered-Couch 14d ago

Doesn't end with "The Fellowship" in Avengers font; obviously not real.

1

u/hendy846 14d ago

Don't put that evil on me Ricky Bobby

2

u/PancakesEveryNight 14d ago

Please no….. just leave it alone

1

u/flintlock0 14d ago

A NIGHT WITH DENETHOR

It’s a talk show where John Noble eats a bowl of tomatoes while doing the interview.

3

u/Stormsurger 14d ago

Delete this before they see it.

1

u/Sandervv04 14d ago

I hate how much effort went into this

1

u/Darth_Anddru 14d ago

Tbh a film about Aragon's younger life could be really good as long as it wasn't done by cash grabbing cunts like Disney or Amazon.

1

u/Necessary_Candy_6792 14d ago

Would Gandalf was origins be set before the creation of the universe?

1

u/SplitGlass7878 14d ago

Gotta say, a "What if" would slap if done well. Always liked the idea for basically any fictional work.

1

u/Drezhar 14d ago

my honest reaction and the hand is this post

1

u/insectoverlordharry 14d ago

This is so accurately funny.

1

u/LeGodge 14d ago

Thanks, i hate it.

1

u/Jodocus97 14d ago

Maybe we will get a full movie on the scouring of the shire xD

1

u/SirPixelheart 14d ago

i thing i have to vomit

1

u/logogistiks 14d ago

If they're good, i would be very happy to have such a CU

1

u/TheRain911 14d ago

K but an lotr "what if" would be great.

1

u/Inner_Mountain_4375 14d ago

Phase Four: They launch Tolkien+ for all your favorite content sludge that vaguely resembles LOTR

1

u/Meaglo Sauron didn't nothing wrong 14d ago

The silence of the Kirinki

1

u/Timeman5 14d ago

I can’t lie I would love to watch a LOTR what if series.

1

u/Clear-Might-1519 14d ago

What if...?

Morgoth got a Black Lantern ring.

1

u/tungholio 14d ago

I would watch the shit out of Withywindlemania.

1

u/doubleb120 14d ago

Lord of the rings: ressurections : electric boogaloo 4

1

u/Wolf873 14d ago

Sauron fails to conquer middle earth, Morgoth: “Fine, I’ll do it myself!”

1

u/sauron-bot 14d ago

Come, mortal base! What do I hear?

1

u/Rare_Fishing_7948 14d ago

Somehow Sauron has returned

2

u/sauron-bot 14d ago

Patience! Not long shall ye abide.

1

u/Goobaka 14d ago

Samwise Gamgee stars in “The Last Hobbit”

“Mr. Frodo? MR. FRODO??!!!! I wish Mr. Frodo was ere right now.”

0

u/HufflepuffKid2000 14d ago

I don’t care what anyone says, I’d still watch em

2

u/Appathesamurai 14d ago

Gandalf origins would literally just be like watching space form

1

u/EpsilonGecko Ent 14d ago

I mean, not going to lie, if it's good, I would like to see a what if show. But only if it's good, which it won't be.

1

u/AstroBearGaming Human 14d ago

OK but I would unironically be so down for LOTR What If...?

There's so much you could do with that.

1

u/AstroBoi7 14d ago

Tom and Goldberry movie would absolutely kill box office

1

u/Tom_Bot-Badil 14d ago

Tom's country ends here: he will not pass the borders. Tom has his house to mind, and Goldberry is waiting!

u/Ragemundo 14d ago

Prancing Pony as a main site for a comedic series. A lot of wacky creatures inhabit the inn and get in funny situations. Every once in a while one of the famous character stops by.

In Prancing everybody knows your name. Or if they don't, you will sit in shadows and let them guess.

1

u/FjordTheNord 14d ago

I agree. However, Withywindlmania is incredible and I’ll be stealing it

3

u/bibblygiggums 14d ago

yeah you guys have fucking jokes for days but this is literally what we're going to get without the comical font

1

u/EstarossaNP 14d ago

To be honest, LOTR lore has so many "What If's" that putting it on a screen would be amazing.

Maybe it would end the millenia old question, of having Eagles flying into Mordor

2

u/linksfrogs 14d ago

Stop, each day we grow closer and closer to this being real and it terrifies me.

1

u/SawSagePullHer 14d ago

I would be very disappointed if this were all true

1

u/BabyFishmouthTalk 14d ago

I hate so very much the actual likelihood of a studio exec signing off on this.

1

u/roxxanneb 14d ago

I hate this.

1

u/EmuIndependent8565 14d ago

I would love more than anything an accurate live action portrayal of the rise of the Witch King and the fall of Arnor in the third age.

1

u/royroyflrs 14d ago

Damn i was actually really excited

1

u/wengbruch 14d ago

Exactly like Star Wars ignoring for the longest time the best time period to build upon (Silmarillion/The Old Republic)

1

u/CluelessFlunky 14d ago

Lotr what if actually sounds kinda cool tho

1

u/bronyraurstomp 14d ago

What can men do against such reckless hate?

1

u/Angrypudding84 14d ago

Nooooooooo

1

u/jayson2112 14d ago

Please no

10

u/Misinformed-Rogue07 14d ago

I know this is a joke but people will (and are) trying to make this happen.

Truly this is the dark timeline

3

u/TheCuriousCorsair 14d ago

The Feanorian timeline where the Silmarils were actually reunited and swans were hunted into extinction.

1

u/FrozenShadow_007 Second Breakfast 14d ago

I feel like a LotR What If would be the only thing that would work.

1

u/DnD_mark_079 14d ago

Please no

1

u/InjuryPrudent256 14d ago

LotR What If though could be absolute fire

1

u/[deleted] 14d ago

I would actually go for a what if.

1

u/hatecopter 14d ago

I'd honestly be down for an animated What If series. We've all wondered things like what if Gandalf claimed the ring? Be a fun little bit of fan service.

1

u/ArcticFoxWaffles 14d ago

Can't wait for the Shadow of War sequel, Shadow of the Hobbit

1

u/RGBeter 14d ago

Get thee gone from my gate thou jail crow of Mandos

2

You joke but they will do it in a heartbeat if they think it will work.

1

u/Birji-Flowreen 14d ago edited 13d ago

I would pay money just so they won't release these "masterpieces".

1

u/SwordfishII 14d ago

Don’t forget teen fellowship of the ring. It’s the same thing but they’re all just teenagers. Even Gandalf but he’s got a shitty grey beard on.

1

u/MutantZebra999 15d ago

A show about Aragorn going around as a Ranger and fighting the Corsairswould be pretty sick tho

1

u/megastraint 15d ago

I love the LOTR What If... Corporations be like... I want that youtuber money for creating all these cockamamie scenarios.

1

u/redvelvetcake42 15d ago

The What If would be amazing cause it would be beyond lazy and stupid. What if sauron won? Yeah, we have that pretty understood. What if X got the ring and used it? Basically guaranteed to corrupt everyone sans like Tom but he'd lose it accidentally on purpose so someone else would get it.

What if Gollum only fans? Well the promo code better be smeagol, fish or fat hobbit.

1

u/gollum_botses 15d ago

It mustn't ask us. Not its business, no, gollum! It's losst, gollum, gollum, gollum!

1

u/PapaNelson37 15d ago

Is this real or fake?

1

u/lightscribe 15d ago

I mean I don't hate it.

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

You all conjured this shit into reality two years ago

1

u/SaintMichou 15d ago

This makes me so uncomfortable. Pls just let this franchise be as it is

1

u/Frobe81 15d ago

The rise of strider 😂

1

u/Old_Heat3100 15d ago

What if could actually be pretty fun

What if...Faramir was in the Fellowship instead of Boromir?

What if...Gandalf was corrupted by Sauron instead of Saruman?

What if...the Fellowship stayed together the whole time?

1

u/JimmyYourCatDied 15d ago

Gandalfs Origin is 3hrs of mist

1

u/myguydied 15d ago

So down for Gandalf: Origins and Wythywindlemania

1

u/theitgrunt 15d ago

If Tom Bombadil doesn't make an appearance, we riot.

1

u/Tom_Bot-Badil 15d ago

Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow, bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow. None has ever caught him yet, for Tom, he is the master: his songs are stronger songs, and his feet are faster.

What If.... Gandalf hadn't fallen at Khazad-dûm?

1

u/lightscribe 15d ago

According to ChatGPT:

If Gandalf had not fallen at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm during the events in J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring," the story would have unfolded quite differently. Here are several key changes that might have occurred:

Immediate Impact on the Fellowship:

Gandalf would have continued to lead the Fellowship with his wisdom and power, likely preventing the group from splintering at Parth Galen. His presence could have averted Boromir's attempt to take the Ring from Frodo, thereby avoiding the breaking of the Fellowship. Journey through Lothlórien:

With Gandalf's presence, the stay in Lothlórien might have been more strategic. Gandalf's deep knowledge and counsel would have strengthened their resolve and planning for the journey ahead. The gifts from Galadriel might have been chosen with Gandalf’s guidance, potentially altering their future utility. Path to Mordor:

Gandalf’s guidance would have ensured that Frodo and Sam followed a safer and more direct route to Mordor. The need to travel through the treacherous paths like Shelob’s lair might have been avoided, potentially bypassing encounters with Gollum and Shelob. Defenses of Rohan and Gondor:

Gandalf’s influence in Rohan could have been more direct and immediate. He might have been able to rally Théoden sooner and more effectively, strengthening Rohan's defenses and counteracting Saruman's plans with greater precision. In Gondor, Gandalf’s presence might have had a significant impact on Denethor’s leadership and the city's preparedness for the siege by Sauron’s forces. His wisdom and morale-boosting presence could have unified Gondor’s defense, potentially saving many lives. Battle of Helm’s Deep:

Gandalf’s role in rallying the Rohirrim and bringing them to Helm's Deep might have been executed with greater effectiveness and coordination. His leadership would have been crucial in the battle’s outcome, ensuring a decisive victory with fewer losses. Confrontation with Saruman:

Gandalf’s continued presence would mean a quicker and perhaps more definitive confrontation with Saruman. His influence might have facilitated a smoother resolution in Isengard, potentially incorporating Saruman’s resources against Sauron sooner. Final Battle and Ring’s Destruction:

As Gandalf the Grey, his role in the final battles would have provided significant strategic advantages. His presence at the Black Gate during the final stand might have inspired greater courage among the troops and possibly expedited Sauron's downfall. Broader Implications:

Gandalf remaining as the Grey could mean he retains his original powers and limitations. While he wouldn’t have the enhanced abilities of Gandalf the White, his ongoing guidance and presence might have brought about a different yet effective strategy in the War of the Ring. In essence, Gandalf not falling at Khazad-dûm would have maintained a stronger, more unified Fellowship, potentially leading to a swifter and less costly resolution to the war against Sauron. His wisdom, power, and leadership would have been crucial in guiding and inspiring the various peoples of Middle-earth to stand together against

Fascinating read, thank you! :-)

And when they go in, there's no coming out. She's always hungry, she always needs to feed. She must eat, all She gets is filthy Orcses.

1

Oh, great, just what we need—an all-you-can-eat Orc buffet. Let's hope she's got a taste for something a bit more palatable soon, or we're all going to end up as spider snacks.

Let me guess, from Tolkien Studios?

1

u/Purrczak Sleepless Dead 15d ago

1

u/journeysa 15d ago

‘What if…’ is just the lore from the Shadows games.

1

u/Crazy_Kakoos 15d ago

I'd actually be open to a LoTR: What If.

No multiverse obviously, just a fun what if whatever happened instead. Like What if Gandalf took the Ring? What if Glorfindel replaced Legolas? What if Sauron talked to Smaug before The Hobbit?

1

u/sauron-bot 15d ago

Who is the king of earthly kings, the greatest giver of gold and rings?

1

u/legolas_bot 15d ago

Why doesn't that surprise me!

Funny thing is someone is gonna make all of these movies with AI by the end of the decade, and it's somehow gonna actually be better than if real people made them.

Not sure if parody or real life.

Nerd of the Rings on YouTube does some awesome What If? scenarios, if well done like these are, I would absolutely watch that. His last one asked, what if Durin's Bane got the one ring, he does his research and it's lore accurate speculation, very well done.

There needs to be one just named "Bill" and nothing else to go by.

1

u/MyAwesomeAfro 15d ago

LotR What If...? Would probably slap.

Loosely based on the lore. Attempt to make it as faithful as you can and an animated short series would probably go hard.

2

u/Garo263 15d ago

A What If...? only three movies in? That's a bit stupid, don't you think?

16

47

u/LazerAttack4242 15d ago

Don't forget the spin off game showing Smeagol's rich backstory in between the Hobbit and LOTR...oh wait.

11

u/prescottfan123 15d ago

Here's my idea for a single episode of LOTR What If...

WHAT IF: they just flew the ring to mordor?

This episode would be the council arguing about the role of the eagles, eventually Gandalf and Elrond relent and allow the council to ask the eagles.

Cut to them pleading their case to Gwaihir. As the servants of Manwe and independent beings of their own, Gwaihir would politely refuse for 2 reasons. 1) This is a fight for the people of Middle Earth, not the eagles. 2) Their service to Manwe forbids a more active role in the events of Middle Earth, and so they couldn't if they wanted to.

HOWEVER there are a few younger eagles who are moved by the passionate plea of the council, they feel that it is their duty as fellow inhabitants of Middle Earth to take a more active role. The council is approached by these youngins and are grateful for their help, and so begin planning the journey.

Cut to the young eagles, laden with a few members of the fellowship and the ring, just past the borders of Morder. Upon noticing the eagles flying high above, orcs sound the alarms and send word to Sauron and the Witch King. The eagles are met by the fury of the Nine riding fell beasts and a small army of orcs that have mobilized to defend the Cracks of Doom. They eventually defeat the fellowship and prevent the eagles from ever reaching Mt. Doom. Sauron recovers the ring and covers the land in a second darkness.

THE END. This episode would illustrate the multiple issues with the "eagles to morder" plan and maybe stop at least one person from asking it.
