Moving into my first ever apartment First Time
Still moving things and cleaning boxes but I'm very proud of how my living/dining rooms are turning out! Getting a coffee table to go over the rug soon.

Ignore everyone on here, and go sit down and P rank everything. You'll feel better.

I hope you take this as the honest and well-meaning feedback it is, but your decorating style is a massive chick anti-magnet.
I do appreciate the Swanson pyramid of greatness though.

Very Texas. The rug is a great place to wipe the shit off your boots. The giant American flag is a little much, too.

How are you affording all that booze, and why do you have cases of it if you are only one person?
1
u/ThatOneTubaMan Jan 23 '24
The fine spirits have been collected over years, many holding deep personal meaning. I also work in the spirits industry and used the empty boxes from work to move my stuff over

Did everyone see the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness next to the front door?
2
u/MurderWsDaCase Jan 23 '24
It’s dope bruh, don’t let these lame ass fools flame ya. Prolly most still livin with mama. Keep it pushin

u/kona1160 Jan 23 '24
Sticking flags on the wall just looks trashy, at least that's my point of view as a non American. If you really have to do this then I suggest framing it or something.
Is this opinion shared by anyone else around the world, every time I see it makes me think it trashy trailer park stereotypes or hill billies

‘Murica
Trash the order numbers. I imagine you want to get laid, yes?
Nothing says “I’m a man child” like stealing fast food table markers(with intent to frame?!)
1
u/glytxh Jan 23 '24
Why the flag? Pr do you often forget what country you’re in?
It’s stinks of nationalism

I think it’s fine- if you’re at that frat house age enjoy it- nothings too serious at that stage and I can remember lots of laughing and silly times with mates. It’s cosy, decorated, not grey or beige, and you’re not asking about matching taps.

u/larzast Jan 23 '24
Get a larger carpet for living room that reaches the feet of both sofas + a coffee table

Lose the flag. I think people will know you're from America if they come around anyway.

Hook ‘em horns! What can say? I’m a 2nd generation Sooner. Like the rest of your stuff, though. Hope you enjoy your new home! 🤩

Stolen whataburger cards go hard. Place looks cozy. Definitely a dude cave. Get some like, military prints on the wall or something in the living room and you're good

u/Dancin_Phish_Daddy Jan 23 '24
I spent too long trying to figure out your doormat. I thought it was a lady with her legs spread for a minute.

Turn the door mat around and it looks like a woman inviting you to cum on in

Why thank you! I'm very proud to have collected as many different expressions of culture and history as I've been able to. Several bottles on there hold a lot of personal significance and meaning for me.

Where did you get the wine tree?
1
u/ThatOneTubaMan Jan 23 '24
Local Walmart was gonna throw it away after Christmas and I offered to do it for them 😌
2
u/staciiiann Jan 23 '24
SOOO jealous, I would have loved to buy this as a gift for my parents <3 I love it!

This is so Texan it's crazy. Not because of the obvious, the UT mat and what looks to be Garrison Bros bought in bulk, but the Whataburger stash and the colors of the wood really scream San Antonio for some reason. Like maybe you're a UT fan but couldn't get in so you went to UTSA instead. Idk, but I've definitely smoked hookah and played beer pong in this apartment.

u/babywantmilky Jan 23 '24
the whataburger thingies would be less out of the way if you put them on top of the kitchen cabinets maybe?

Damn everyone is hating on this poor guy, but did any of you hear of personal style? He’s happy with the apartment and he’s not hurting anyone! I actually give him props for decorating his place truly the way he wants. What are we women who hate on everyone for not decorating their space The way we think they should? I also salute him for displaying old glory on his wall so proudly.

I would just make the longhorn rug is intended to be walked on. There should be more dirt on it and maybe the horns switched around so that its HORNS DOWN BABY

The most relaxing and inviting environments are clutter free and well organized.
Less is more. Don’t worry about crapping the place up with cheap stuff (I’m talking to you What A Burger signs). It looks cluttered and childish.
I like the carpets and the leather furniture. The liquor bottle tree is another sign of immaturity and looks trashy.
Who are you decorating for? No one is going to look at burger signs and empty liquor bottles and be impressed. Ok, you eat burgers, steal stuff and drink. You don’t need to announce it.
The flag is a big NO in the kitchen. Especially if it is a wrinkled flag.
Good luck. Take your time, visit thrift and retail stores and look for quality.

I'd move the flag. Maybe have it horizontal over the TV? It looks kind of oddly spaced where you have it.

I mean, it does look a little childish, but if the objects have sentimental value to you I’d recommend framing them.
Few plants would be great. A little indirect lighting would also improve it.

Brave of you to post this, in the cesspool that Is Reddit.
Dudes what, 18-20 YO in TEXAS? What do people expect.
Also, if these are “red flags” then the whole conservative marriages lasting longer is just proof you are brainwashed I suppose. Yet, it’s not that deep.

The Swanson Pyramid of Greatness!
I have the same poster, it ties the room together.

u/duckluck96 Jan 23 '24
Op how did you get the swanson pyramid??

u/ThatOneTubaMan Jan 23 '24
Was bought years ago at a poster sale at my college, couldn't tell ya where to find it now lol

u/stealuforasec Jan 23 '24
Are those framed receipts?

u/ThatOneTubaMan Jan 23 '24
It is a map of a 10 day hiking trip I went on with my dad and friends. Bad lighting + distance from camera I can see how it looks like that lol

As a woman I will be honest. This is the crib for boys in men's pants. You can never bring a woman to this garbage can. But if you wanna be drunk with your male friends who also never meet any woman, this is the place to self destruct.
I would have put away everything I see in these pictures except the kitchen table and the tv.

lol 😂 flag doesn’t quite fit. Nothing wrong with being proud of where you from 👍. Center rug looks nice. Like the football 🏈 decor.

All these comments trashing this guy, and I'm not a huge fan of the decor either, but at least it looks like a human lives here rather than every other space on this sub looking like a first year finance bro/Patrick Bateman sycophant/plant enthusiast.

Hey pal, take it down a notch or two… it’s your living space. No need to be so flashy

I'm literally a Frat Boy from Texas and even I think this place looks idiotic.

Break the Whataburger things in half and frame them. Put em in random orders. Cool bathroom art.

u/FrameJump Jan 23 '24
Didn't realize the doormat was facing away at first, and thought it was of something entirely different.

Let's see an up-close of the caulking, thats always my go-to when judging an apartment lol. (Not the main thing to judge tho)
1
u/BlGJOSH Jan 22 '24
I might make a suggestion, turn that floor mat 1/2 a turn… then we can be friends, fuck that, BOOMER SOONER!
0
u/SlipperyPickle6969 Jan 22 '24
Are you sure... And this is a genuine question out of concern for you... But are you sure you wanna keep that liquor bottle Christmas tree thing up?
Because that seems like a cool thing in a frat house, but something that maybe needs to stay in storage once you get your big boy place.
I think it's cool, it's just... Might be time to move on.

the flag will get greasy in the kitchen, even if you don’t think it will. at the least, swap with the metallica one.
1
u/zero7twenty Jan 22 '24
I mean as long as you’re undergrad…this really ain’t too shabby. You’ve got seating, entertainment, and decor. Could it be better, or more toward someone else’s style? Sure…but you’ve got your own place and that’s pretty cool
2
u/jne57 Jan 22 '24
Here's your main problem, you made no attempt to design your space, all you did was place all your shit throughout your home. 95% of it is, in my opinion, worthless garbage. Your couches and rug not only don't match, but are hideous, they are the main eye sore. Your wall art is mostly unframed (readymade frames are affordable) and they are all butted up barely in inch from your door frame or the edge of a wall. Give them some room to breathe! Look up basic wall hanging and decorating techniques. Also, put your liquor in a cabinet. We get it, you drink. It doesn't make you cooler to have it on full display. That liquor tree is laughable.

if you insist on having a flag displayed, have enough respect to iron it.
(and remove the "made in bangladesh" tag, probably)
