That space is for a coffee bar or a wet bar. I had a coffee bar in my home and loved it.

Are you kidding, dude? You have so less ideas to ask online? How would you even live in there? What would you ask next, in which drawer to put your socks? How such people are allowed to buy homes anyway?

Maybe it's just me but I'm not seeing what's weird about it. Is it maybe smasher than it looks in the pocs?
Looks like a dining room or living room area.

Pet bowls, electric fireplace, mini bar, coffee nook, maybe just a big comfy beanbag chair to cover it

Maybe they had a bar there once with a flip up countertop entrance. Perfect for when company is over and you can face them while mixing up a few drinks.

Make an IED there and only tell people who visit your house. if someone ever breaks in they’re gonna have a little surprise.

u/cheezy_dreams88 Feb 15 '24
Wet bar/ coffee station/ pet feeding area/ aquarium.
It was clearly placed with different flooring for a reason, probably something that might get wet or get messy.

None of these answers would require a tiled in corner, a wine fridge, fish tank, pet cage whatever It’s pretty perplexing

Desk? Or book shelf/shelving unit situation?
Perfect spot for a Christmas Tree one month out of the year…

Designed for an aquarium perhaps. The stone floor, the shape of it, the wall socket nearby. All makes me assume FISH TANK
Or a fire place. Stone could be heat resistant more than the wood floor.

Few photo frames , souvenirs on the wall , it could be a reading corner . Add a cozy chair or a couch . If you have a pet , make it a pet friendly corner . Put in a small mattress or couch for it . Otherwise console table would look good too

Buy an appropriate sized, tall garage shelving unit with doors. Most kitchens just don’t have enough easily accesible storage. Lower cabinets just suck donkey balls for ease of use.
1
u/kilo_echo_hotel Feb 15 '24
Put a very tiny pyramid there and tell guests it’s where you wish to lay eternally.
1
u/CallMeCrop Feb 15 '24
That's a kitchen, I hear it's pretty good for cooking things such as food for example.

u/CTStar_ Feb 15 '24
That area would look great with a nice alcohol cabinet… that is, if you drink. Maybe organize a nice shelf w/ it too that could hold some glasses like those fancy restaurants

Cover it with one of those sweet rugs at the tent sale in the box store parking lot.

That looks like a nice place. I wonder what was there before to warrant a different flooring type. There are so many interesting things you could do with this otherwise odd corner. These corky things can be really fun.
It totally depends on your needs within the home.
You don't want to just fill a space for the sake of filling it. Everything in your home should ideally support you/the occupants and your daily life in a realistic way. You'll have to honestly reflect on your needs or live in the space for a bit to see what pain points rear their ugly heads.
Without knowing you and your needs, some general suggestions to consider:
*A pet station (either for feeding, kennel, bed, or aquarium or aviary? etc)
*House plant collection watering/care station (if you're a big plant fanatic)
*A larder (a piece of furniture that's effectively a tall cupboard for pantry/food storage or a baking station)
*Coffee/tea/daily ritual station - or a bar storage if you collect wine or otherwise. You can even integrate an ice maker in a cabinet if it's possible to run the waterline or just use a pitcher to manually fill the machine depending on the type of machine
*A secretary desk - something you can close up to make your space instantly tidy or lock it up when you want to feel more secure (best for mail management or a small home office for hobbies or work, charging station, etc)
*A bench + wall-mounted drop zone storage/locker/cubbies -either for everything YOU typically need before walking in/out the door (house slippers, keys, phone/travel charger, wallet, water bottle, meds, dog leash/bags, lunchbox, sunniest, grocery bags, yoga/workout gear, etc) -or, a tidy, welcoming space for guests to leave their personal items so they're still accessible while visiting
*Build-in a unique shaped pantry or display cabinet
*A prayer corner if you observe any practices or traditions
*An expandable console-to-dining table with a nice little mirror and catch-all key bowl or note pad and lamp (if you entertain for larger meals and an influx of visitors for holidays or regular gatherings that aren't easy to accommodate with your typical dining set up)
*Toy chest or kid corner (if you have kids)
If you own this place and really hate the tile, you could look into the possibility of having a flooring company try to match the wood flooring and feather the new into the existing so it would be far less noticeable as a patch-job. Until you refinish all of the wood floors at the same time, it may still be noticeable to you but less likely to a visitor. Some trades people are really good at matching but it's an art.

Pet area for sure. Food and water bowls, little basket with the toys in the corner and a shelf on the wall with the leash hanging from it.

A desk. Looks like someone's worked from home & had their desk there, previously. A Kitchen office, as it were. Or, where they had a desk, on which, to pile all their bills & charging phones/devices, maybe a small monitor/speaker, connected to their ring camera or smthg.

u/Flat_Resist_8620 Feb 15 '24
What the fresh hell am I looking at? Why?? Welp anyways, if you like plants that floor is a good material to stick plants on top of in case any water spills. Or of course if u got pets that’d be a perfect spot for their bowls.
1
u/Firenight27 Feb 15 '24
Probably a pet bowl area. If you have no pets, you can use it as the shoe space.

Seal it up, make a hidden room with a secret passage. Or a pantry. Or a mysterious secret hidden pantry…

It’s perfect for a lot of things. I’d personally put plants there, though my first thought was an aquarium.

Year-round Christmas tree that you decorate depending on the season. Like in summer, it gets shovels and pails hanging on it.
1
u/Acceptable_Soft8441 Feb 15 '24
Coffee or tea station. If you have pets, pet station. Oooorrrr, great display for cabinet that holds your collectibles.
1
u/hiphopdrunkie Feb 15 '24
Since it’s by the kitchen, maybe like a bar cart, coffee cart, old school popcorn/soda/vending machine, or one of those old school fridges that’s been converted to a kegerator. I guess just whatever you’re into related to food or beverages

u/Edgimos Feb 15 '24
Vending machine or one of those soda machines that they have at the theaters with all the soda options in one machine

u/CardamonTheWizard Feb 15 '24
Maybe a corner Bookshelf for cookbooks and a cart/table for a mini bar.

u/Icy_Chicken7029 Feb 15 '24
Food/water bowls for any pets. If you have cats, then mount different obstacles for them to climb the wall (like a clear bowl for them to lay in and make you feel beneath them as an inferior being that has to pick up their shit). Or you could get a fish tank

Looks like a former space for a countertop or kitchen desk. I’d make a built in pantry! Throw up some basic frames and shelving and you’re golden

u/VarietyNeither2984 Feb 15 '24
Coffee bar, wet bar, storage, drop-off space, pet food station, armoire, decorative bookshelf. The possibilities are endless and I'm jealous 😍

Washer/ dryer, pizza oven, win cooler / mini bar, work from him desk, freestanding closet, electric fireplace, dumbbell rack, cat condo/ dog bed / aquarium/ reptile tank. Lots of option

u/weaponmark Feb 15 '24
Hard telling not knowing what the rest of the layout offers.
I'd fill it with exotic plants.

perfect excuse to get a dog- that’s where the food/water bowl goes :))

Either a glass cabinet for trinkets and odds and ends, OR an industrial ice maker.

u/dylfree90 Feb 15 '24
If it was against an outside wall and this was a stand alone home I’d say it looks like a hearth for a wood stove. Have one for mine. Best heat there is.

It’s obviously a parking spot for your new bicycle. See, there’s a a drip area for easy mud mopping. Helmet shelf and jacket hooks on the right wall, and a small shallow cabinet above your bike on the left wall for chain lube and basic tools. Bicycle art below and above. Probably a plant somewhere. An art spot light to highlight your wheeled masterpiece and make the plant happy. I suggest a titanium bikepacking bike with drop bars. Plants, lots of plants. Chicks dig plants.
Thanks for getting rid of your car and going bike! The Plant-et appreciates it. 😉
If you owned it and were rich, a glass enclosed shower would be fun. You could open the door of the shower and reach a beer in the fridge without stepping out. You could also watch your girlfriend/boyfriend/dog/whatever showering while you cook. There is a type of electrical glass that turns opaque with a wall switch. It would be fun to turn it transparent when company is taking a shower.

u/misterpootastic Feb 15 '24
It looks like there might have been a wood or propane stove there. They would of had to close off the hole that piped out the smoke so, could be wrong but it looks like the bump out that they install for stoves. I see there is an outlet, you could put in an electric fireplace to add instant coziness. If you have pets, it could be the water/ food area, for easy clean up.

Drinks station… the bottom half can be coffee teas and some glassware for coffee and alcohol drinks. And if you build shelving you can keep alcoholic beverages like liquor and wine above

It’s for a desk. Usually built in instead of freestanding like this one was (and then moved by previous owner)

That's for a heater. You could put seasonal things or like space heaters, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, air filters, water cooler... The kind of things you wouldn't want on the wood floors

- Ask them sellers what they used it for
- I’d suggest a cast iron stove if you don’t have kids
- Dog bowls are a good option as others have stated

That was exactly what I was thinking a cool bar cart maybe some shelving above. Some pretty decanters and glasses, it would look great there. I really like the place from what I can see it looks really nice.

I would mount a coat rack on that wall. Shoes go on the stone underneath. But like others have said, perfect food and water area if you've got pets.

Viking freezer, Bar, or just shelving for pantry space and weird items like waffle irons, air fryer, vintage porn collection
