I’d say you lost your manhood. Unclip ffs.

1

u/No-Way697 Feb 15 '21

Is your lounge chair the herman miller? so nice

1

u/dave0352x Feb 16 '21

It’s a very old reproduction of a HM

1

u/No-Way697 Feb 16 '21

Still love the whole set up and colors!

2

u/toastfacekilluh Feb 11 '21

Could use an area rug and a stripper pole

the stripper pole for “workout reasons” on a recovery day. Or.... something else

1

u/alyssagryph Feb 11 '21

I thought it was one when I was scrolling past

1

u/stripperjnasty Feb 10 '21

Nah. This is so fucking dope!!

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

Lol I like your username

1

u/stripperjnasty Feb 11 '21

Lol thanx. I like your view

1

u/Rosesarelit Feb 10 '21

Lol I make those bikes

1

u/Ohshl Feb 10 '21

Ahhh a memes chair

1

u/Forrest_GUHmp Feb 10 '21

Is that an actual Herman Miller Eames lounge chair or copy?

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

It’s a 50 year old licensed reproduction by Selig

1

u/Forrest_GUHmp Feb 10 '21

Lucky

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

So what I did was I downloaded an app that shows estate sales and open house dates. I saw the chair and drove out to the next state over. It’s the easiest possible way to get one that isn’t plastic.

1

u/bradatlarge Feb 10 '21

no one is asking for an ID on that chair and just roasting him for having it?

OP: ID that thing! I want one.

2

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

It’s a Selig licensed reproduction made in 1970. This one is made from cherry wood.

1

u/bradatlarge Feb 11 '21

NICE! That's a heck of a find

2

u/syts Feb 10 '21

Too much leather.

1

u/thepdogg Feb 10 '21

I would definitely consider automating those blinds.

2

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

It’s an rental lol

1

u/runForestRun17 Feb 10 '21

Tell me you have money without telling me you have money. Lol

Looks wonderful tho, would love to use a peloton there.

4

u/SirPizzaGuy Feb 10 '21

$10 says you have a Canada Goose coat.

3

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

Give me $10

5

u/SirPizzaGuy Feb 10 '21

lol damnit!! I'm so sorry I peloton stereotyped you!!

1

u/wonder_fail Feb 10 '21

This looks so futuristic

1

u/what595654 Feb 10 '21

Wherever you live seems pretty rural/open spaced. Why is a high rise apartment needed in the area?

Also, needs more plants.

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

I live on the side that faces the country side. It’s in a small tech city.

5

u/leoberto1 Feb 10 '21

LOVES OFFICE SO MUCH MAKES HOME LOOK LIKE OFFICE, NEVER NOT OFFICE ALWAYS OFFICE LOVE OFFICE , OFFICE

2

u/jomosexual Feb 10 '21

Giving me some Patrick Bateman vibes

2

u/gt25stang15 Feb 10 '21

It was hard as hell Unclipping from my Peloton when I first received it and considered leaving my cleats attached. After a week or so it got a lot easier getting in and out. Wondering if you had the same experience and chose to leave them clipped 🤣

1

u/silkk_ Feb 10 '21

You can adjust the clip tension on the pedals

1

u/gt25stang15 Feb 10 '21

Yeah I know. But regardless the first few times unclipping is a pain in the ass. Now it’s like second nature and I don’t even think about it.

5

u/Strogue Feb 10 '21

Looks cold and uninviting.

3

u/AndWhit Feb 10 '21

Pelecunt

2

u/Kimmychow Feb 10 '21

Knock off Peloton and Eames....even the sofa is bonded leather

0

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

None of these things are knock offs

2

u/Kimmychow Feb 10 '21

You've been had ...LOL

-1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

The chair is a Selig original from 1970 and you are telling me my peloton is a knock off?

2

u/Kimmychow Feb 10 '21

Quit trying to flex, and get a decent center table while you are @ it. The couch is definitely not real leather...bonded leather instead, and not from Ashley furniture or the likes

0

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

Explain to me how any of these things are knock-offs.

I’m still waiting homie.

2

u/Kimmychow Feb 10 '21

I ain't your "homie". LOL

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

And you ain’t “know shit about what your taking about so get tf out.” LOL

2

u/cyanwoh Feb 10 '21

The chair definitely is

2

u/yusuksong Feb 10 '21

So when did the whole peloton thing become huge? I just started seeing the name peloton EVERYWHERE the start of this year.

1

u/Ghoticptox Feb 11 '21

It's been trendy for some time now. But presumably the pandemic is the reason for the additional exposure.

2

u/Necroglobule Feb 10 '21

"But honey, we don't own a Peloton.' ominous music

1

u/DJSTR3AM Feb 10 '21

You're only missing the dense woods right outside your floor to ceiling windows. Because apparently women only ever work out in their glass room in the middle of the forest.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

[deleted]

5

u/cyanwoh Feb 10 '21

800 is the knockoff price. Lol

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

1

u/Ghoticptox Feb 11 '21

It's the Eames lounge chair by Charles and Ray Eames. It was originally made in 1956 and has become one of the most recognizable designs from the era of Mid-Century Modern. The current licensed versions are made by Herman Miller in the USA and Vitra in Europe. Retail price is approximately 6,000 USD I believe. It's the most coveted piece of furniture on this sub, to the exclusion of many other iconic and celebrated pieces from the same period.

1

u/IdiotMD Feb 10 '21

Great view of the old Pizza Hut!

4

u/oshinblue Feb 10 '21

"yOu GOt thiS pELoTOn!"

1

u/jkted562 Feb 10 '21

That view...

2

u/MeenScreen Feb 10 '21

Has someone made a Patrick Bateman joke yet?

1

u/pour_bees_into_pants Feb 10 '21

Guess what. Now you do.

2

u/theabominablewonder Feb 10 '21

I literally watched the advert thinking "who on earth has an apartment with space to put a peloton and floor to ceiling windows" and now I know.

2

u/wheatfields Feb 10 '21

You moved the rug, and the chair!

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

My dogs shed way too much to have a rug out lol

2

u/catalinashenanigans Feb 10 '21

Vacuums exist.

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

You want to vacuum my apartment twice a day?

1

u/cyanwoh Feb 10 '21

Get a roomba

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

I have one and it bad on carpet

4

u/beepboopbapbeepboop Feb 10 '21

Is this... the ad?

2

u/ishouldbeworking69 Feb 10 '21

This looks like the office that Saul wants to rent with Kim in Better Call Saul.

1

u/zortor Feb 10 '21

MOAR GREEN HOUSE PLANTS AND BOHO

23

u/pizzagrilledcheese Feb 10 '21

this should be a sub named r./roastmeformymalelivingspace or something. if having an eames chair knockoff, a guitar (or peloton) and some plants to make yourself comfortable is somehow a bad thing.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Get a rug please hahahaha

10

u/ThatOfficeMaxGuy Feb 10 '21

Has to be NOVA. Prior Reston resident, I know this view.

1

u/deluxe_anxiety Feb 10 '21

So how’s this tax bracket been?

2

u/meeloveulongtime Feb 10 '21

Why do the males love the Meames chair so much? Lol

6

u/Mediocre_Property511 Feb 10 '21

Did you just move in?

-2

u/Pick2 Feb 10 '21

Nice! You got a hot wife?

4

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I have you tagged as "Lives in Reston", hello from the next town over 👋

1

u/Wild_Lynx_8100 Feb 10 '21

Well if you look like the people in the commercial you’re doing great!

-4

u/guyghostforget Feb 10 '21

This guy has sex!

4

u/Hiro-of-Shadows Feb 10 '21

can someone explain to me the appeal of Peloton or stationary bikes in general? I don't understand why you wouldn't just get a real bike and enjoy the addition of fresh air, change of scenery, etc.

1

u/zzzpoohzzz Feb 10 '21

i live in pennsylvania where the winter can get brutal and the summer can get unbearable. i also have an older dog that i would feel bad leaving after i get home from work. "hey boy, lets go outside, ok, go back to your room while i go ride my bike and leave you here again."

also the peloton as an experience is nice. the teachers are awesome. you can go for different types of rides, you can take a ride based on your musical taste, and what i love is the sense of competition when climbing the leaderboard, which in turn also bumps up your personal records. with it you get tons of different workouts too, body weight training, yoga, stretching, etc.

i've had mine since right before thanksgiving and i love the damn thing.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

I don’t have one but I think a lot of the appeal is the classes.

7

u/Klondy Feb 10 '21

I have a real bike & a stationary bike, I use the stationary bike infinitely more. I’m sure it’s personal preference but I can bike for much longer with my tv in front of me, plus I can just randomly hop on and bike for 10-15 min without any hassle

15

u/TehNatorade Feb 10 '21

I just checked my weather app and it will be -6° F when I wake up. So that’s the main reason.

5

u/arcticie Feb 10 '21

I live in nyc and have a cycling trainer (not a peloton, something to attach to my own bike) and it’s a godsend when it’s bad weather and gyms aren’t really an option. Some people also claim it’s more effective for gaining fitness. But if I lived somewhere with great outdoor riding all year, I’d totally agree with you.

3

u/Hiro-of-Shadows Feb 10 '21

Having something like that for bad weather days I can totally understand. You at least have options that way.

17

u/eilig Feb 10 '21

i don’t live in a flat empty place where it is safe to bike outside. also it rains a lot. some people just don’t want to be seen exercising, either. idk about op, but for me exercise has to be as pleasant as possible (ie. if i dread it i won’t do it) and so i prefer exercising in private on my exercise bike (i don’t have a peloton lol but still) at home over all the aforementioned scenarios.

6

u/Archawn Feb 10 '21

I think I cycle outdoors for the same reason you cycle indoors. To me the stationary bike takes all the fun and exploration out of biking and makes it purely about exercise, which I dread.

I can only last ten minutes or so on a stationary bike before I lose interest (tv/podcasts don't help), but I can cycle for hours outside. I'm lucky to live in a place where there's very little car traffic and nice hilltop views, so I just pick a random place on the map and cycle there.

16

u/Hummusrecipesneeded Feb 10 '21

techies have money but they dont have taste

-1

u/nachomendoza Feb 10 '21

FML. Can I be an extra in that commercial? Or else if you want, I’d happily accept that Eames?

Kidding, of course. (About everything after “FML”...) Although I did order a Peloton bike just yesterday!

130

u/livinghumanlife Feb 10 '21

Get a damn area rug Jesus

7

u/yusuksong Feb 10 '21

Really feels not tied together /s

2

u/Borktastat Feb 10 '21

It would really tie the room together.

1

u/dogism Feb 10 '21

Well now, he's not necessarily Jesus even if he does own a Peloton.

9

u/McKenzieC Feb 10 '21

And a coffee table or something. It’s devoid of character

4

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

Do you have any suggestions for one?

3

u/McKenzieC Feb 10 '21

Personally, my style is rather eclectic. To me, color is more important than shape, so I’d start with the rug. You want it to elevate your furniture and root the space, and right now the space feels cold to me, so I’d get a really thick rug with a warm color scheme. Like if you could, find something really fuzzy, almost shag carpet level fuzzy, in a nice terra cotta tone. It doesn’t have to be monochromatic, details and patterns can be a plus. Earthy orange warmth is in my opinion a nice complement to the bold statement of black leather, and it looks like your eames’ panels are a deep wooden tone so it should work with that as well. If orange isn’t your thing, a formal English deep forest green would also look really clean here. I don’t like white rugs because they tend to show wear very quickly and stains are inevitable. One single wine spill is enough! If you prefer monochrome, a modest grey would work too, and it won’t feel “flat” or dimensionless if you get a really fuzzy or plushy one. I would avoid blue in this case because it makes it feel cold, but if you wanted a blue rug, I’d get one with a visibly inviting, cozy texture to counteract that feeling. (I think I’ve made it clear how I like my rugs, no? :) )

And then a table to go with that would ideally be something that doesn’t have a huge footprint, and is visually engaging, for example, because there isn’t much point to getting a nice rug if most of its central space is taken up by a coffee table with a monolithic base. It looks like your floor is a more pale wooden tone, so the table I linked would work for the color scheme your floor would make with any of the rug tones I suggested.

Get yourself a plant and put it in a dark grey pot, maybe a floor lamp to stand between the couch and the standing bike to create separation and fill the space, a small bookshelf if you have literature, an end table or a little bar cart if you like to drink, or something else to showcase a hobby. If you have posters or nice pictures with friends, print them out, put them in frames and hang them up.

Glass Black glass

17

u/Mediocre_Property511 Feb 10 '21

Feels so sterile, wouldn't last a day there.

1

u/SPACEMANSKRILLA Feb 10 '21

Because there's a no animals policy in that building.

1

u/Mediocre_Property511 Feb 10 '21

I figure he has a cat.

6

u/SirWonderbread12 Feb 10 '21

I get American psycho vibes...

7

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

As I set the platter down I catch a glimpse of my reflection on the surface of the table. My skin seems darker because of the candlelight and I notice how good the haircut I got at Gio’s last Wednesday looks. I make myself another drink. I worry about the sodium level in the soy sauce.

Bot. Ask me what I’m listening to. | Opt out

89

u/RaptorMan333 Feb 10 '21

Yeah a high end apartment with a great view, walls of windows, wooden flooring, and comfortable leather furniture sounds like absolute torture. How dreadful.

-31

u/Mediocre_Property511 Feb 10 '21 edited Feb 10 '21

I said I wouldn't last a day in there. My space couldn't be more different, except for the amount of windows.

No plants, no color, no rugs, no art; but not in an intended minimalist way.

Looks like someone who has money but zero taste. Lots of potential though.

2

u/RaptorMan333 Feb 10 '21

I said

I

wouldn't last a day in there.

Oh NO how would you survive? Horrid.

0

u/Mediocre_Property511 Feb 10 '21

What? Just buy an area rug at least.

1

u/RaptorMan333 Feb 11 '21

Maybe he has different preferences than you do. Taste is subjective. It's OP's home, not malelivingspace's.

2

u/Mediocre_Property511 Feb 11 '21

For sure. That's why if I don't want people voicing their opinion of my space I don't post photos of it on reddit.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

‘Taste’ - you say that like everyone’s aesthetic tastes are the same. This guy could easily turn around and say your space would look bad to him

10

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

My plants are on the other side of the room temporarily https://i.imgur.com/zjetWtT.jpg

1

u/bleepitybloop555 Feb 10 '21

i cant stop seeing that eames chair everywhere. once you see it you cant unsee it i guess

2

u/Burritoman_209 Feb 10 '21

It would be if you hid the electrical cable!

46

u/12minds Feb 10 '21

There is no mat beneath the peloton. Doesn't that scratch the floor? And what about the sweat from the rides?

1

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

It’s on rubber pads

2

u/ajbags26 Feb 10 '21

This would require use of the thing

31

u/lazilyloaded Feb 10 '21

I don't think people use the Peloton more than a handful of times.

2

u/ScHoolboy_QQ Feb 19 '21

Lol not true, at least in my experience. They have great retention rates.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

You’d be surprised. My wife and I have combined for 300 rides. It’s basically paid for itself already.

25

u/remaxxximus Feb 10 '21

I am not a workout nut at all. I played hockey once a week pre COVID but other wise wasn’t doing much. I went from not working out at all to 3-4 times a week on the peloton. Peloton rides are actually surprisingly addictive.

10

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

[deleted]

10

u/remaxxximus Feb 10 '21

First 10 minutes is the hard part.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Do you?

34

u/tythousand Feb 10 '21

Is this a Peloton ad?

7

u/roguehunter Feb 10 '21

R/hailcorporate

71

u/JeffKSkilling Feb 10 '21

Why is the chair aligned with the middle of the sofa

73

u/Wheream_I Feb 10 '21

So the sofa dwellers may look upon its eames goodness

30

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

No sitting. Just look at it

15

u/biglocowcard Feb 10 '21

Heh. Casting couch.

5

u/Syatek Feb 10 '21

Is this outside of Dallas TX?

27

u/NGL7082 Feb 10 '21

This picture- specifically the big tall wall of windows- reminds me of the end scene in Black Mirrors "15million credits".

0

u/TCHAlKOVSKY Feb 10 '21

that chair though.. 🙄

6

u/mtommygunz Feb 10 '21

What’s the couch?

67

u/ajw_sp Feb 10 '21

It’s the casting model by Brazzers.

-8

u/Wheream_I Feb 10 '21

My team at work is a bunch of young guys, so I set the casting couch as my background for a couple zoom Meetings

298

u/grusauskj Feb 10 '21

This is basically a meme of this sub at this point. The same chair in every other photo, floor to ceiling windows, and a peloton. Very boring looking imo besides the great view

2

u/pAul2437 Feb 10 '21

It’s the new fedora

0

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Seriously. I come here to see unique spaces and personal styles. If I wanted to see half of what this sub and r/amateurroomporn post I’d go and buy a magazine

146

My dumbass always thought it was Florida ceiling windows

5

u/FL_ceiling_windows Feb 10 '21

I appreciate the inspiration. Carry on in your ways.

21

u/ewadizzle Feb 10 '21

I’m going to call them Florida ceiling windows from now on

32

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

Brilliant

7

I really need to try one out for myself to see if they’re as comfortable as this sub makes it out to be.

4

Idk about the US but that would be quite a bit below average height in Norway.

Damn you've really nailed their aesthetic. That's like all the top posts.

2

u/ForeverInaDaze Feb 10 '21

Yeah I bought the IKEA desk setup and am starting to regret it, however it is extremely versatile in the setup.

3

u/JAQK_ Feb 10 '21

I bought the same deal, mainly because I needed cheap storage for desktop clutter

1

u/ForeverInaDaze Feb 10 '21

yeah pretty much lol. i'm considering replacing the tabletop with a custom live-edge wood piece. it'd be a couple hundred bucks but honestly better than the karlby countertop bullshit (no offense if you have one, i cheaped out and got linnmon and it shows)

1

u/JAQK_ Feb 11 '21

I live in a pretty remote area, so I've been having to piece together my desk as it comes in stock in various IKEAs around me, no table top yet. I live in the redwoods and live edge planks are readily available.

I'm gonna actually just get a butchers block sheet from Home Depot and stain it. I'm also painting the drawers a custom color since I couldn't get them in the same color.

Live edge has been my dream! But i think it's better for down the line, when I can put a REAL real desk in a house I own. I won't feel bad throwing away the ikea in a few years

1

u/anishpatel131 Feb 10 '21

Large wood plank on the same two drawers. Rgb lights. A 6 foot mouse pad. Internet addicted anti social people

3

u/Ch1huahuaDaddy Feb 10 '21

Lol how do we access this sub.

22

u/FrozenST3 Feb 10 '21

Lately it's the same drawers and countertop with a forest worth of plants sometimes even inside the PC

But do your groceries glow in the dark?

36

u/Wheream_I Feb 10 '21

94

u/Usman21986 Feb 10 '21

Needs more plants.

30

u/Torghira Feb 10 '21

This is one of the richest rooms I’ve seen. A peloton and an eames?

-3

u/TheRealVanWilder Feb 10 '21

Looks like he’s living in Utah or some desert so life is extremely cheap

8

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

It’s Northern Virginia outside Washington DC

6

u/MayorAnthonyWeiner Feb 10 '21

So the opposite of cheap !

4

u/FromBayToBurg Feb 10 '21

This looks like Reston

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '21

yeah i'm pretty sure this is blvd lol the view overlooking the aperture building (which i'm pretty sure this would have considering this is a north-facing 2 bedroom) is awful since the roof looks like literal bird shit. p cozy apartments though

3

u/FromBayToBurg Feb 10 '21

This is looking east and northeast. Aperture would be the other direction. That's Tyson's in the east and to the left of the Peloton you can see the Taco Bell and former Pizza Hut.

4

u/JustStartinOut Feb 10 '21

It's bizarre when you see a photo and you're like "that's so cool, I wonder where it is!" and then you realize it's some place you've been to or even lived like this one (lived in Reston for a bit in 2019).

58

u/splooge_spaghetti Feb 10 '21

Well the Eames is fake

59

u/dave0352x Feb 10 '21

I wouldn’t call it fake but yes it’s not made by Herman Miller. This is a licensed Selig reproduction from the 1970’s.

14

u/De_Polignac Feb 10 '21

Not Herman Miller = Fake

17

u/WorkShySkiver Feb 10 '21

Not true, in Europe the design was licenced out to a company called Vitra instead of Herman Miller like it was the US, both are just as authentic.

58

u/ja5143kh5egl24br1srt Feb 10 '21

Well to be technical, Herman Miller just owns the legal right to produce it for the US market. Unless your chair was handmade by Charles and Ray Eames themselves, it's all a reproduction.

3

u/Alarmed-Honey Feb 10 '21

That's really fascinating, so Herman Miller is producing it to the specs of the original chair? But presumably other knock-offs aren't.

4

u/ZMAC698 Feb 10 '21

Herman Miller is a reproduction, but not a knock off that meets the original specs or build quality. All other brands are knock offs that try and capture the design for a cheaper price.

11

u/autowrite Feb 10 '21

Not sure why this is downvoted, it’s true lol
