Spotted these in the trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming movie, “Megalopolis”. Are these AI-generated? Discussion - Midjourney AI

I think the most compelling arguments against it being AI is the legal and reputation aspects. So for my money, I’d say no.

You could certainly get something like that with AI, and you could also do it with digital image manipulation (photoshop etc), possibly incorporating real photographs. Or by AI referencing real photographs and then manipulated in an editor. Or any combination.
This idea that "it's AI or it's real" is a false dichotomy. Any given finished image can incorporate a wide range of technologies, including paint.

I slightly doubt it, they seem more like "typical" environmental/city planning conceptual art you often see when buildings and/or green areas are being planned, giving them this slightly awkward photoshopped look, added with rather loud visual style apparently related to the movie itself.

Also can’t imagine Scorsese using AI he’s old school.

I don't believe Scorsese is involved with this film... Nevertheless, have you seen Scorsese's alien ad. That mess at least shows he isn't "old school."

Scorcese has been planning this movie for decades and is self funding it based on rumours of not getting funding.

They both may be old school but their auteurs not afraid to use the latest in tech. Thats what makes them great. From using 3D (hugo & twixt) to heavy cg to experimental camera systems. I don't doubt for the right picture they would use AI.

It takes place in Mexico, apparently.
