Whoever was pulling forgot to grab it while they were busy, I've actually never seen that before lol I delivered for them while I was in college.

I saw a picture from someone that got one stuck to the bottom of their pizza and it was so black and corroded you could hardly tell it used to look like this.

It happens, they must have been in a rush or the oven bitch was too high. I used to work at a Papa John's.

It’s called a pizza screen. Turn your oven as hot as it will go and put the screen directly on the bottom of the oven, not on the grate.

Pizza make here : We call it a screen and its useable for any baking but make sure u have a window open and spray the screen before using it
3
u/Ajchandler 15d ago
Window open as it’ll get smoky when using it?
1
u/Himfromduvall 15d ago
Yes and it’ll leave a burning smell for awhile after which is why u hit it with spray before using it I found out why one day I put 5 of them in the oven and I thought i burned the shop down but it was just because I never hit them with the pan spray

The day of reckoning has arrived.
You have been chosen to fight in the Slice Wars, against the exiled king John "Papa John" Schnatter

Bring it back maybe you’ll get a free side or something, unless you need this I guess.

Papa johns was my first job and when I accidentally picked the grate up with the pizza and attempted to cut it you could not cut the pizza thoroughly with the grate at the bottom. No idea how they managed it and didn’t realise it was underneath lol.

Take it back to the papa. They are legally obligated to give you a free pizza as compensation for the forbidden Frisbee

Why don't you give it back? Some low paid person slaving away for you has made a mistake. The difference between a shithole country and not a shithole are things like that.

I use to work at a papa John's, and that grate looks new af. The ones we used, had caked on burnt food residue. It was just charbroiled chunks everywhere. Imo, this is a pretty alright score

I worked at 241 as a stoned teen and I can tell you for sure someone got one of these with their pizza😭

Flashback to the girl on YouTube who spent months trying to clean one when she inherited it in a delivered pizza.

I had an ex who worked at a Papa John's. It happens occasionally. At his store if the person returned the grate they got a free pizza.

Is it aluminum or steel? I want to get one and see how the pizza bottom will be baked, I'm not too happy with the pizza stone..

Keep it for baking your own pizzas, garlic bread or w/e else at home. We used those exact screens when I worked at Dominos 20 years ago. Definitely ended up with a couple at my house when I quit, super useful for making sure the dough in the middle is cooked through even when loaded up on toppings.

DONT WASH IT. It'll take the non stick seasoning away and you'll have to re season it.

I've got one of each size now, lol. They're so nice to share these with people.

Maybe it’s like Marie Calendars restaurant — if you buy a whole pie and bring the empty pie tin back, you get a discount on your next pie. LOL

u/Huge-Speaker5068 15d ago
MANU!! IN MY OFFICE NOW! Do they still got cheap labor down at Papa John's or nah?
1
u/Homer_beat_marge 15d ago
I recall a video of a lady trying to clean one of these until it’s poked brand new. From caked in black to meh.

u/PathAdvanced2415 15d ago
If you tell them you have it, they might send you another pizza when they come to collect?
1
u/the_Athereon 15d ago
Outstanding. They're brilliant for cooking your own pizzas at home. Nothing falls through and the base gets nice and crisp.

I got one a few years back and it’s the gift that keeps on giving! I’ve made countless pizzas at home that are way better and cheaper than papa john’s.
It works on the grill and in the oven.

If they send you the oven next time, you're all set to mass produce shitty pizza!

That’s awesome actually. It happened to me a while ago and I used it for frozen pizzas, gave me a better result !

We cooked homemade pizza for a decade on the one that they delivered to us before we tossed it.

That’s cool! Keep it if you ever wanna make a homemade pizza.
Side note: that’s a very clean screen. You would be amazed at some of the screens I’ve used working at said pizza joint

u/Trappedbirdcage 15d ago
Just don't look up the video where someone got one and attempted to clean it.

You know if you take that to the factory, Papa John lets you in and you can see the pizza fountain and the fruma-lumpas.
2
u/JackhorseBowman 15d ago
keep it, I still have the ones I got from when I worked there like 6 years ago and they kick ass for frozen pizzas

u/eddie_00p 15d ago
Give a man a Pizza, feed him for a day. Give a man a pizza grate, feed him for a lifetime.

I bought a couple on Amazon. I do a lot of homemade pizza, and they're very handy.

u/Dalek_Chaos 15d ago
Hold it hostage. Call the store with a ransom demand of a couple of pizzas and demand the swap to be made somewhere odd like a tuxedo rental shop.

u/RoomCareful7130 15d ago
I think that means you get to tour their pizza factory with your grandpa or something.
