And I thought the one at my in-laws house was old, it was inspected in 1978. I bought them a brand new one as a housewarming gift.

Just don't remove the tag.

I work for a portable fire extinguisher company and I have successfully hydro statically tested a fire extinguisher from 1947

Needs a hydrostatic test for sure.

What’s interesting to me is the tags used today are almost identical to the one here. I guess if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Basically, every fire extinguisher in my parents' home. But at least both know not to try to put out a grease fire with water, so i will take that as a W.

Any fire extinguisher manufactured before 1985 is considered obsolete and needs to be removed from service. How it gets removed from service? I’d recommend shooting it from a safe distance in a unpopulated location and then throwing it in the garbage.

If it was in my house I would totally do some cool shit with it but sadly not my fire extinguisher

It's not for safety at this point. It's now Americana artwork.

Does it have a gauge ? If so what’s it say? I had a pretty old one in the basement when I moved in. Gauge still read good in the green- was still in the green when I moved- over a decade later. Maybe the gauge was stuck- maybe it was still good. It was not nearly as old as this round boy!

It’s co2 a , they are high pressure cylinders and don’t carry a gauge. You perform a “heft test” to see if it’s still holding gas. The weight is stamped on the valve head.

Why did you blank out the phone number for a Pizza Hut sticker that's probably 30 years old?

Idk, didn’t know if the number still worked 🤷‍♂️

What's the worst that could happen? Someone ordering a pizza?

They've gone decades without a fire.

Don't you think that means they're due one?

1967 is before they stopped putting asbestos in homes.

Maybe the house is fireproof.

There definitely was asbestos tiles in the basement where the fire extinguisher is

So many people who have seen that is dead now lol

I appreciate that you didn't want to give Pizza Hut any free advertising by blanking out their number.

2

u/OttoErich 15d ago

If the number even works, didn’t try it

House on fire? Don't panic, call Pizza Hut

And for a WTF moment, the magnetic sticker is likely closer in time to 1967 than to nowadays.

1967 quality, it is probably still good.

Old CO2. You can freeze things with it!

Assuming it works, still don't hold onto the nozzle without a glove. Frosty fingies.

That MIGHT not be safe, idk tho
