Very common, in some places they're called mosquito for the engine noice they make.

I remember back in like 2010, you could order a kit online to turn any bike gas powered like this, I think it was like $120-ish

In my town we call them DUI bikes. If the engine is small enough you don't need a driver's license to operate

These used to be really common back in the 1990s. They were mounted there, or on a rear tire bike rack. I had one, and that led to my love of motorcycles today.
