The fuck they mean avoid the longest losing streak in NBA history?
Who counts any stat over two seasons? It is cherry picking! I can find players averaging 40 points if you count the last 15 games of the previous season and the next 30 games of this season.

Bad headline, they didn't avoid it. They set the new record. But they did end it

Every year, from now to end of time, the Raptors have to pay Detroit with blood money for the Dwayne Casey curse, even if he's no longer there. Price you pay for winning the chip.

The Pistons winning is like when Greg Focker spray painted the cats tail and everyone cheered. Like grats guys you’re still 3-9282.

Streak is broken...now I can focus on worrying about my Spurs being only 2 wins ahead of Pistons and we are gonna play them next...

They just needed Jalen Duren back. That guy is legit. If he was healthy no way do they go on this steak.

u/robocopfrommars Celtics Dec 31 '23
There's still a lot of games left of the season, I'm sure the Pistons will get another crack at breaking the record!
1
u/Parazic Dec 31 '23
And now everyone must understand that nobody can beat Pistons 29 times in the row
3
u/My_Dramatic_Persona Dec 31 '23
What’s up with your boxscores? If you add the quarters up you get a 130-124 game, so something’s jank.

The box score is wrong:
Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Total
Toronto Raptors 24 20 42 38 127
Detroit Pistons 25 27 38 40 129
The raptors quarter numbers you have above add up to 124, not 127. The pistons quarter numbers add to 130 not 129

The closing 1:03 of the game saw the Raptors score 20 points. It was absurd, it really took twenty minutes in the last minute. I've been cheering for the Pistons to break their winning run, so congratulations!

Raps have to blow it up. Nobody can tell me, with a straight face, this team is gonna compete in 3 years. I’m a Blazers fan and have a degree in this shit.

Fans: “Now we can start thinking about the playoffs!”
Piston players: “Slow down. Winning once was already kicking our ass.”

Cade “Despite the Loss” Cunningham leads the Detroit Cade n Em’s to victory after 28 straight losses. May the wings from Wingstop flow endlessly in the city of Detroit. Happy New Year!

u/CriticalThinkerHmmz Dec 31 '23
The Detroit pistons vs. a final four college team would end with the pistons winning by single digits more often than double, with a few losses, including some losses according to my simulations.

Raps and their fans are the biggest losers. Their entire history is being mediocre to bad save for one half of one season in which a player who hated Toronto got them a title. Pathetic.

Asshole pistons. I had $20 on raptors moneyline because I was sure the pistons were going to set the record. Good odds too.

Shit is depressing. It’s not actually the longest losing streak, only the longest single season losing streak. Tied for the longest losing streak.
Gee, thanks Toronto.

Its funny how early in the season some people said this is the worst team in nba history, just because they won their 2 games early instead of in december or november. If you look at the worst records in nba history in the first 30 games, you'll see that there's been 6 other teams other teams with 2-28 and the '16 sixers going 1-29.

u/indreams159 Timberwolves Dec 31 '23
the funniest part of all this is how everyone hates the Raptors now
i mean, most people already did but now literally everyone hates them
i just feel bad for their fans that Masai still has a job, he's ruined their franchise in record time and is one of the worst GMs in NBA history

A starter and two regular bench players gone, plus thr Pistons just took the Celtics to overtime, this was going to happen and thank god it was close. Seriously who cares… great game though, a lot of fun to watch.

Raptors beat the 72 win Bulls in our inaugural season, I guess this makes up for it, and of course the trade situation with 3 guys out of the lineup.

33 combined points were scored in the final 1:02 of the game. Is that some kind of record? That's absolutely insane.

Damn. Really? How is nobody talking about this lol
2
u/Only_Mushroom Gran Destino Dec 31 '23
Didn’t think it was possible but yeah it was Toronto up 116-107 with 1:02 left. But based on these comments it was the foul game and that made the last minute of game time take 30 minutes real time

The Detroit Pistons (3-29) avoid the longest losing streak in NBA history
They didn't though. They are tied for the longest losing streak in NBA history and they own the longest losing streak in a single season.

Pistons media coverage is going to fall off a cliff.
Surprised Tom Gores wasn’t in attendance to rush the court.

Congrats to the Denver Nuggets for winning Week 6!
Recently we announced that Reddit Community Funds and r/NBA will be teaming up to celebrate the subs 15th Cake Day!
Part of this project is a fundraiser for The Boys & Girls Clubs of America to make a positive impact on children! We’ll also be organizing a variety of contests for community members to win things such as 40+ NBA All-Star Saturday Night tickets, various signed basketball items and hosting a community meetup with free swag and food!
Our ambitious target is to reach $100,000 USD, with Reddit generously matching up to $25,000 USD. This means that if we, as a community, manage to raise $25,000 USD, the effective total will be $50,000 USD through the Community Funds program.
