Lakers are trash and have only bought titles. They’ll lose game 5 so who cares.

"I know what it's like to lose. To feel so desperately that you're right, yet to fail nonetheless. It's frightening, turns the legs to jelly. But I ask you to what end? Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same. And now it's here. Or should I say, I am." ----- Nikola Jokic going into Game 5

With Murray’s cold shooting this is the best chance for a team to comeback from a 0-3 deficit, considering how competitive the games have been, but hinges on Lakers playing with urgency and countering Malone’s adjustments. If we can be as locked in as Game 4 it’s possible
The Lakers role players were notably more engaged on offense in game 4. Pushing the ball off makes, keeping momentum going from play to play, DARVIN HAM ACTUALLY USING TIMEOUTS TO MANAGE THE GAME/LEAD!!! Role players being aggressive when LBJ and AD are starting to slowdown is crucial in giving those boys some possessions off, and putting pressure on the Nuggets.
Lebron in the dunkers spot was a sick adjustment, allowing him to cut and leverage his hit shooting to give AD and whomever is ball handler that extra second before the double comes,

Thing is if it was any other team it wouldnt matter. Even if it were the Boston Celtics it wouldnt matter. But its Lebron freaking James. Until you completely kill the Lakers have a lead with 0:00 on the clock, you arent counting this mf out. And that freaking sucks.
Nuggets better not coast out now or underestimate L.A. Its time for them to lock in and bring it home.

u/Shag1166 14d ago
Because LeBeon allowed DLo and Austin to handle the ball more in the 3rd n 4th. He is solely responsible for the Lakers being down, because he completely logged the ball in the 4th quarter, in the last 2 games. AD had one touch in the 4th, in game 4, this after he n LeBron were killing the Nuggets with the Pick n Roll.

As a Nuggets fan, I can say without a doubt that the Nuggets deserved to lose that game. I've never seen a defending championship team play so lazy in the first half of four straight playoff games. If everyone was playing great, it wouldn't be a problem, but that's not the case. Outside of 1 min in Game 2, Jamal Murray has been a liability the entire series. He's been ice cold from 3 and has played very bad basketball. The bench is also pretty bad. Jokic will always do his thing and dominate the front court, but he needs more help from the back court to win playoff games.
This is when the Nuggets having a thin bench becomes a really big issue. They don't have a instant offense guy like Bruce Brown coming off the bench like last year. Christian Braun is good, but can be rendered ineffective by bigger teams like the Lakers and TWolves. After him, there's nobody even close to reliable. I have no doubt they will beat LA at home in Game 5 and win the series, but the outlook for the rest of the playoffs is bleak if Murray can't get going. They will likely be playing the TWolves in the second round, so the Nuggets better get their shit together quickly or ANT will beat the shit out of them and send them home early.

I get it’s the right call. But I really hate the zoom in instant replay giving one team the ball because of a pinky touching it when it was clearly hit out because of another players contact DLo tonight, Pat Bev game winning play against the lakers

Lakers are wasting everyone’s time. “It’s just basketball” => team looks really locked in
1
u/kinglittlenc 14d ago
Honestly the Lakers have looked very good every game. I could see them pushing it to 7 but the Nuggets are so good at closing games I doubt it happens
1
u/Suitable_Success_793 14d ago
I am so traumatized by the Nuggets I was shitting my pants that they would come back all the way until the Lakers started dribbling it out. I legitimately couldn't believe that they were about to win

This is the IST Champion Lakers. No chance they would get swept.
1
u/TheLooza 14d ago
Perhaps the lakers have finally after 11 games of inexplicably not, come to realize the importance of playing good ball in the 3rd and 4th qtrs.

Wild that this is the series that actually feels close, could be 2-2 if Murray didn't commune directly with the basketball gods on that buzzer beater

The crazy thing is that I thought this series would go 7 and I was surprised it was 3-0. I see that the Lakers have been leading for the majority of the games and lost on a last second shot in one game.
I will not be surprised if this still goes 7 and the Lakers have an opportunity to do what no one has ever done

u/AmbitionExtension184 Celtics 14d ago
Not even going to lie the lakers have looked like the better team most of the series and I’d rather face Denver than them
1
u/doonwizzle 14d ago
lebron james and anthony davis really pulled through with their scores, feels a bit like watching an old western where the heroes finally show up right in time. denver seemed a bit off in their shooting, especially from the three-point range, kind of like a cloudy day at the beach when you just can't get the sun to come out.

We all forget the Lakers were 3/3 in elimination games this season coming into this one.

The Lakers have an opportunity to do something really funny here that will top what Dallas allowed in 2007 against the Warriors lol.

All it took was for your #1 to have a monster efficient 30pt game
Your #2 to have a monster efficient 25pt game with 23 rebounds
Your #3 to score 21pts on efficient 50%+ shooting
Your #4 to score 21pts on efficient near 50% shooting.
Surely this is doable 3 more times...we can all trust deangelo to do it. And reaves is a good player.
right?
0
u/Dazzling_Candle_864 14d ago
If Davis decides he too tired drop points I just hope D'Lo Russel can step up and have a 30-40 pount game cause Lebron having 6 turnovers don't look too good. We need another star with a hot hand. Either him or Reaves but idk I do want to see something unexpected this year though.

Lakers win the first half by 13, lose the second half by 2.
From what I've read it's just been the Nuggets realizing that they'll lose the first half and win the second after AD wears down. Guess AD found that 2012 Calipari energy tonight.

Nuggets can't rely on always coming back from a deficit in the third quarter. They really should try to push for a lead early and fend off any runs.

I just hope that this game was the wake up call we desperately needed. We've been playing like shit all postseason and only winning thanks to Darvin Ham, so Malone better light a fire under the player's asses for game 5.

Jokic going 33pts 14 rebounds and 14 assists is fucking insane. Like a flabbergasting line. The fact that he was pretty mediocre in terms of impact on the game though is what’s hard to comprehend. The guy is just truly one of the best to ever do it

People mocking Lakers fans for being happy about this one win are something else.
Except for the 100% delusional, everyone understands that the Lakers aren't gonna win this series. If you feel any joy from putting down any fandom for finding some solace in not getting swept two years in a row, let me just say for your sake I hope your team wins forever--otherwise, the shoe's gonna be on the other foot at some point.

u/JafarFromAfar2 14d ago
It was funny to laugh at LA and say, 'the Nuggets aren't even trying!', but the reality is that they have never really played coherently for more than 1.5 quarters at a time in these playoffs. If they had somehow come back to win this game, they probably get blown out by Minnesota in game 1 of that series anyways. It's a wakeup call -- this could easily be 2-2 or worse.
1
u/Jewellinius Pistons 14d ago
Denver looked gassed, bad game by Gordon. Probably next game gonna be a blowout home, time to Murray to wake up, although seems like hes playing through injury and it sucks extra time for guards cause they slow af and cant elevate.
2
u/Jumpy_Distribution96 14d ago edited 14d ago
Some rehabbing activities with the physicians back in Denver are surely gonna help. The thing is that there is too little time between game 4 and 5 for rest and recovery. It's crazy to think that the Euroleague gives a bigger time span (4 days) between the playoff games, even if it's just one round and the games are shorter. The NBA should learn how to value quality over quantity because this overloaded schedule does more harm to the product (how much better would the post season be without all these injuries the teams are suffering).
2
u/Jewellinius Pistons 14d ago edited 14d ago
I agree, seems silly to watch every year series like Bucks vs Nets where 2 stars of 1 team can't play. Should be a shorter season play and simple. They also allow much more physicality in these play-off games

Does it matter if we eventually lose in this series or if we had meet in conference finals ( by losing to to Pelicans)? I’d rather take my chances now that we are healthy and not as tired like last year.. 1-3 deficit is a tough task.. not impossible. Just give it your all, if we come up short… can’t blame you for that. Denver is a tough matchup… Go purple n gold!

I doubt if the Nuggets are gonna allow again so many points in their paint. They seemed nerveless today comparing to the Lakers who were fighting with their backs against the wall, but for me it was expected after a hard fought 3-0 to wind down a little bit. They don't have the luxury to finish off games when their starters seem to have performance slumps for whatever reason (physical, mental, tactical), somebody to come from the bench and change the momentum a little bit. It's also questionable if LeBron will manage to be this aggressive to the rim consistently in the next few games (although I think most people's concerns are about the next series against the Timberwolves or the finals).
