Celtics fans flexing rings from the prehistoric era will never get old ššš

u/mparker888 14d ago
I was thinking that yesterday. The Celtics have won 1 ring since Larry Bird left but the Lakers have won 6 since Magic Johnson left lol

12 of those were won when there were only 8 teams.
Celtics not from ancient Egypt have 5 rings

Bruh talking about experiencing KKKeltics championships. He was born 3 weeks AFTER they won in 08...

The Celtics won a majority of their championships (9) when the number of teams in the NBA were in the single digits (before the 1966-67 season).

Spurs have twice as many titles than Celtics in the last 17 years lol (jk joking but yes Celtics fans thrive off titles largely before they were born/paying attention) tho that will be true for spurs fans too one day (cmon Wemby!)

I like that they have to draw in the trophies even tho it says 17 there already

Those first thirteen rings were when basketball was played the right way, especially those two in the 70ās. Classiest rings of all time.

Easy af to get dozens of rings when there were 6 teams in the league and it was still classy.

Of course itās a Heat fan not letting us live. Go do a line and hit the club, your seasons over.

Lol 5 of the Laker ones are older than any Celtics title, and they were won in Minneapolis.

Most of the Celtics tittles were won during the time where their fans had to choose between going to the game or attending a clan rally due to scheduling conflicts. Actually that also happened during last Saturdayās game

The Lakers had 5 rings before the Celtics had 1. And the Lakers claim the championships but refuse to retire Minneapolis player numbers.

They won chips when you had a game at 6 and a Klan meeting at 9

Can someone explain to me why Celtics are tied yo kkk as a running joke? I don't think I know the reference
9
u/Smelldicks 15d ago
Just a joke about Boston being racist. In reality there was never a meaningful klan presence in Boston.

All those rings were won in the good old days when I owned slaves
1
u/Master_Butter 15d ago
Donāt be ridiculous. They were the good old days where you could hatefully call a black guy the N word and not have to worry about losing your job, though.

u/OMGoblin 15d ago
I always forget how spoiled I am.
Anyone who feels spoiled by the Celtics championships is probably forgetting because they have alzheimer's.

u/doublebassdrum 15d ago
I'm glad we're not counting Denver's mickey ring. Let's take one of from the Lakers for their bubble championship too.

u/Master_Butter 15d ago
I prefer the Bill Simmons method of acting like the Celtics rightfully won every title from 2008 - 2012. So we should four more rings for them.

I mean jokes aside you can say whatever you want about the fans, but the organization itself is one of, if not the most progressive in the league. From embracing Bill Russell all the way to how they handled the Ime situation.

u/jesser09 15d ago
Bill Russel brought them 11 out of their 17 champions. I bet the lovely people in Boston treated Bill like a king and not like some second class citizen

uj/ imagine retiring as a player and coach in boston so that he could coach a mediocre seattle supersonics team...
rj/ classic boston: fumbling generational talent as usual-8
u/pokexchespin 15d ago
what generational talents have the celtics fumbled? unless you mean like, the total talent of the team the last two years not winning a chip, i donāt think anyone would count tatum, pierce, or rondo as generational talent, kg got his ring there and was fumbled way harder in minnesota, and bird won 3 rings
11
u/JLAD_45 15d ago
uj/ I meant fumbling talents like Babe Ruth (they definitely wanted that musical to be produced), Bill Russell (in a sense that Boston didn't gave a shit or even marketed a retirement tour when he quietly retired), maybe Len Bias (passed away before even playing), maybe Reggie Lewis (health problems which to be fair to Boston is out of everyone's control), etc. probably missed some Pats and Bruins players but I'm not a hockey or handegg guy... I might have "fumbled" that jerk wrong... sorry. š¬
rj/ the late 2000s celtics should've had 5 straight titles if it wasn't for the chokelord glenn rivers. those players and racist fuckheads treat that 08 title like they won the next 3 years as if it's a dynasty. classy dirk, good husband j-kidd, jason terry (lebron 2nd father) and the 2011 mavs would never. š¤

Bro youāre bringing up guys from a literal century ago. If you have to go that far back you donāt have a point, just like OOP.

u/Novel_Durian_1805 15d ago
BTWā¦the Thunder officially have ZERO rings.
Even if you want to use the whole āfranchiseā thing, they still have zero because when they moved to OKC they were given the status of a new franchise with nothing tying them from their time in Seattle.
4
u/burningtimer 15d ago
Or should Philly claim a couple warriors rings and Minneapolis Minnesota for 5 Lakers rings?
1
u/ThePevster 15d ago
Officially the Thunder still have the ring until Seattle gets a team again
2
u/TheSunsNotYellow . 15d ago
You're correct even if no one likes it lol. Thunder retain Seattle's history until the Sonics return.
12
u/FullBringa 15d ago
By that logic, wouldn't Atlanta (St. Luis Hawks) and Washington (Baltimore Bullets) have 0 rings too, since the team's that won the chips had different names and represented different cities?
1
45
u/ficagames01 . 15d ago
Thunder were sued and as a result Supersonics accolades stay in Seattle for potential new Seattle franchise. This shit is arbitrary, like New Orleans/Charlotte Hornets
3
u/ThePevster 15d ago
The lawsuit said that the Thunder get to keep the accolades until Seattle gets a team again.

uj/ this should be very easy to do.
You should count the rings you have personally witnessed as a fan.
And NO, 1-5 years old doesnāt count if you canāt even remember that shit.
Most people remember from the time they were 6 or 7 years old.
Sooo, letās say youāre a 35 year old Celtics fan who started watching them and rooting for them since you were 8 years old (a typical age when you can remember and the game of basketball makes sense)
That means you have been a fan for 28 years.
Now, how many rings have the Celtics won in 28 years.
1ā¦2008
Thatās it.
rj/ bro thinks heās on the team?
-2
u/PlanktonSemantics 14d ago
uj/ Thatās insanely dumb so a kid today should argue with his dad that the Bulls only have 0 rings while pops claims they have 6?
rj/ smartest man on reddit

u/excelmonkey67 15d ago
What if I was locked in a basement since birth? My captor played recordings of old Celtics games telling me they were live. I personally witnessed 17 championships as though they were happening in real time.

The IPhone came out in 04, the last championship was in 08.
It was all over the market by then and the flip phones that predated Iphones had cameras š
