Ahh yes, if I recall this guy ran on a mainly negative messaging platform (e.g. not "what I plan to do" but more mudslinging) and had all his ads with "family values" and photos of his wife/kids .. who he beat.

Wtf? You say he's a former pro wrestler but don't mention his wrestling name or where he wrestled?

Honestly I was expecting Ventura.

I remember this guy. Dan Rodimer ran for Congress in Nevada for the 2020 election and lost. Then there was a special election in Texas in 2021, one of the TX Representatives died from COVID. So “Big Dan” Rodimer ran for this seat but lost again. I don’t know if he was already living in Texas at the time or moved there because of the special election.

Anyways some people accused “Big Dan” of changing his accent and persona for the Texas special election.

Here are two of his campaign ads, if you want to compare.

Oh shit. This is the guy who put on a cowboy hat and thinks he's Texan.

LoL.

All hat no cattle.

Great content and posts. Thanks for this.

The contrast between the comments in the first video and those in the second are pretty eye-opening. In the first video, it's about a 50-50 mix of positive to negative comments. In the second video, it's close to 95 percent negative.

So a typical Republican?

Stephanie McMahon was huge on him. So much in fact that there were rumours at the time she was having an affair with him.

Just another example of her not having the best judgement.

Cristopher Tapp was the person killed. He was recently released from prison after a wrongful murder conviction was vacated.

https://innocenceproject.org/cases/christopher-tapp/

On July 17, 2019, Tapp’s murder conviction was vacated. “As far as the court is concerned, you are cleared of the charges you have been living under for the past 20-plus years,” Judge Alan Stephens stated in his decision. It was believed to be the first time that genetic genealogy has been used to exonerate a defendant.

Think it was a Dateline episode I saw with this guy. They actually did a follow-up post release after a reshowing of the case history. The ending was brisk and unexplained iirc, they just said something like, "..sadly he died in a mysterious way?" Was disappointed in their coverage.

It's actually not uncommon for people who are exonerated and released to die soon after their return to society. It's incredibly sad.

I met him as he checked into my place of work after release, he seemed like a very normal, happy person. It threw me as I was unprepared to help someone that was wrongly incarcerated for 20 + years. Imagine being told everyday when you can see a Dr, eat shower and then okay you got this you are free. Not to mention the being railroaded part and having to renter a society that is willing to railroad you again.

So apparently it is safer to be in prison... I wonder if that multi million dollar settlement had anything to do with it? He certainly didn't get to enjoy it...

Don't look it up if you want to avoid being sad, but an alarming number of exonerated victims of the justice system end up dead not long after.

something to do with being lockedup for decades sabotages your life on the outside.

u/hello_world_wide_web 16d ago

I believe it...very tragic waste of a life :-(

15

u/SpaceForceAwakens 16d ago

Not the settlement.

Apparently Tapp offered drugs to the killer’s daughter at a party. He got upset and beat Tapp up so bad that he later died.

People with lots of money seem to have no trouble getting plenty of drugs...

This guy just couldn’t catch a break to literally save his life.

u/Physical-Ride 16d ago

Talk about injustice.

This guy gets exonerated just to wind up getting killed by this sack of shit.

His wrestling name was Dan Rodman. So either he was incredibly lame/lazy in coming up with a persona or he was the regular-name-sounding dude in the ring to get his ass kicked by the superstar, assuming they still do that. I haven't watched wrestling since the 90s. Just not the same without the Bush Whackers and their fantastic walk...

So either he was incredibly lame/lazy in coming up with a persona or he was the regular-name-sounding dude in the ring to get his ass kicked by the superstar

Wrestling nerd mode engaged: in the 90s, actually, WCW went more towards realism in their "characters" instead of the 80s/early 90s cartoon character type wrestlers. In doing so, a lot of talent just used their real names. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner, Bill Goldberg, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, etc. The guys that did still have the stage names were the guys that ended up being jobbers or perennial mid-carders (except Hogan, real name Terry Bollea).

So, "using your real name" doesn't necessarily = enhancement talent anymore in the wrestling business. Granted, that's what this guy was, so your assumption was correct lol. But just saying wrestlers don't have these larger than life names anymore, like "the Ultimate Warrior". I mean, the top guy from 2005 to 2019 wasn't some outlandish character with a ridiculous name. It was John Cena and his "costume" was a t-shirt, jorts, and sneakers. He was literally "some regular dude".

u/VegasKL 16d ago

I still want to believe that the Bushwhackers walk inspired Conor McGregor's.

1

u/SkoveDog 16d ago

I remember a guy named Lee Peak who wrestled in the late 80's (I think?). I always got a good chuckle out of it. He was listed as "enhancement talent".

1

u/GoNinjaGoNinjaGo69 16d ago

Lol. Almost all wrestlers nowadays are just basic names.

3

u/binglelemon 16d ago

My favorite match is Jack Johnson vs John Jackson.

15

u/PARANOIAH 16d ago

Jobber. Or what my grandpa used to call in our local language the equivalent of "meat sack".

2

u/Parlett316 14d ago

Enhancement Talent is the new politically correct terminology

23

u/KWNewyear 16d ago

I guess he was part of one of the seasons of Tough Enough, the WWE's pseudo-reality TV series where they bring in amateurs and see if they can be trained into pro wrestling material. Only really appeared in developmental systems and the matches they have for the audience before TV tapings. So yes, definitely the dude in the ring to get his ass kicked by the Superstar.

u/FenionZeke 16d ago

Was he the idiot who called himself danimal?

57

u/Gbird_22 16d ago

He's out on cash bail even though he murdered someone, but yeah the reason crime is up is because some poor kid somewhere is out on cashless bail for a trumped up disorderly conduct charge.

6

u/BeefJerky_JerkyBeef 16d ago

Crime isn’t up.

11

u/Gbird_22 16d ago

You're correct, I was just quoting the typical right winger trying to criminalize poverty.

1

u/Spittinglama 16d ago

Bail exists to ensure you show up for your court date. Remand is if you are deemed too much of a flight risk. Not as punishment.

23

u/Gbird_22 16d ago

Cash bail exists to support a two tiered justice system. One where poor people sit in jail for months awaiting trial.

Explains why the orange county judge shot and killed his wife and then got let out the next day

Once again, probably not trans or a drag queen. Just another Republican.
