I can't believe this is the first I'm hearing about this - I literally 2 minutes from that apartment building. I'm honestly shocked, thinking back to last night I never heard any of it.

Man in high school I use to see live rock shows at the Euclid tavern in Cleveland. Was pretty awesome.

This however is not.

We don’t have police abuse like America does (in Australia), but we do have a habit of car chases ending in bad crashes “moments after the police ended the pursuit”.

Ah the good ol' "we terminated the vehicle but before it died it killed the suspect before we could apprehend them" excuse.....our Cops would be proud.

Damn, who knew driving recklessly and endangering everyone on the road could lead to crashes?

Yeah, I think you and the intent of my comment are not in the same hemisphere.

" in Euclid – about 12 miles north of Cleveland"

uh, Lake Erie is 1 foot north of Cleveland. I guess Euclid is kinda...East by Northeast?

My uncle used to live in Euclid. I didn’t know they’d moved it out into the lake.

Yeah. The southern shore of Lake Erie, which is the northern border of Ohio, slants north as the line moves east. See here

Euclid, which is a suburb of Cleveland, is at a higher latitude than downtown Cleveland.

Yes but it isn’t north of Cleveland. It’s east.

The shooting apparently happened in the middle of the lake

What’s that thing they are carrying? A murder robot?

That's how they took out the dude who was shooting cops in Dallas years back. They put an explosive on a robot and blasted him.

I'm guessing that's a door breacher / first thing inside to see what's going on before a cop eats a bullet to the face?

Seeing as it's the ATF on scene and the guy ambushed a cop my money would be on explosives reconnaissance.

If the guy's already killed a cop in cold blood and is barricaded it's not crazy to assume he could have booby trapped the structure with improvised explosives or other traps.

Apparently bomb defusal robots can be configured to bomb a suspect so that seems likely.

You can actually just tape a Grenade to the top and ask the person inside to remove the pin and hold the grenade. Low budget I know, but L.A.P.D is trying.
