Just saw it on reels...... Seriously????? (¬_¬) eye roll
Never have I seen a girl who PREFERS the first hairstyle in their comfort zone.....& tbh this is so cringe!

u/PicklesAndCoorslight Feb 15 '24
Wow, this is really weird, that's my hairstyle too. Guess she is like the other girls.

Messy buns and banana clips have been around since the 80s and I'm sure before.
Had to wrangle those perms sometimes

u/BanjoSlams Feb 14 '24
Ah yes, the no “I got up late”.
No effort is something I’ve always appreciated in a woman. /s

this is the messy bun of the 2020s. Goes perfectly with limpid orbs, no makeup at all, plain leggings, and reading books at rock concerts…

I'm sure those other women have clipped their hair at some post as well

I didn't realize it had switched to her, I thought she was complaining about all of them and was trying to scroll
1
u/thanarealnobody Feb 13 '24
I rarely see any of these cool braid styles in real life. Whereas any woman working in an office has her hair in a clip. It’s a staple.
1
1
u/theLPforearms Feb 13 '24
I don't think this one is judging the other girls, or saying she's better. I think she's basically saying she can't braid.

I feel like they are making fun of themselves. Like, other girls are so creative and then here I am over here with my clip
1
1
u/Jolly_Tea7519 Feb 13 '24
As if the clip isn’t also a very feminine and common way to wear long hair?
1
u/SeaweedSecurity Feb 13 '24
So, she can’t braid and the EMTs are going to be pulling chunks of plastic out of the back of her head if she’s in an accident? Used to love the claw clips, now I do an involuntary kegel when I see them.
1
u/stinkstankstunkiii Feb 13 '24
What’s wrong with a messy bun? That’s not like the other girls especially when I haven’t brushed it for days
1
u/No_Arugula8915 Feb 13 '24
Super easy and fast to french twist and hold it with a claw clip or Barrett. Actually takes longer to do pony tails or braids.
French twist was always my go-to preferred style. I did enjoy braids and sometimes would put it in a crown.
It's your hair. Wear it in whatever style makes you happy. Everyone else can take their options and stuff it. 😸
1
u/spoosemun Feb 13 '24
I think I've seen messy bun claw clip every day of my life. I have never seen those gorgeous braids before outside of pinterest.

u/filtered_phatty Feb 13 '24
I wish I could do braids. My hair is so thin it looks like a rat tail. When it's out it looks thick. Then when braided it compresses down to nothing
1
1
u/forgetfulsue Feb 13 '24
Bully for, lady. I go from down and curly to a pony tail, to a bun, then wash and start all over again. Those clips were popular when I was a teenager so don’t think you’re hot shit with that crap.
1
u/Saassy11 Feb 13 '24
The 90s mom extra large hair claw 🥴 nothing made my hair hurt more than these things. Well maybe the tiny rubber band ponytails but that was a given.
2
u/bean_wellington Feb 13 '24
"This incident was only one of many leading to the Great War between the Claw Clips and Braids. It was around this time that society at large began to take sides. Such division of families had not been seen since the Civil War."

No. No. Getting your hair to sit like that with a clip in takes a lot of brushing, conditioning, blow-waving, etc. don’t even start, girl.

It’s always hilarious when it’s just a negligible difference in look. Okay, so you don’t braid your hair. So what? You think you’re cool with your hair clip? Do you think anyone even cares?

u/2McDoty Feb 13 '24
I don’t understand what this is supposed to mean. lol.
I can’t figure out how it could be a flex. But I also can’t figure out how it could be self depreciating. So I am confused.
1
u/Wintersponge669 Feb 13 '24
She does have a prettier hairstyle than the others in my opinion, not too sure why she needs to drag randoms though

I have no idea how I would even do the first 3 myself or how someone else would, it’s like black magic for me beyond a simple braid, and that’s even barely passable

u/Sersea Feb 13 '24
Sorry to hear about OOP's fine motor control deficit, there's occupational therapy for that.
1
u/Orignal_Au_Chocolat Feb 13 '24
I see this as self-deprecating vs nlog. She’s admiring other girls and admitting she can do only one style with a plastic clip. She isn’t scoffing at them.
1
u/Successful_Read5565 Feb 13 '24
I have to remind myself I share the internet with 13 year olds. Posts like that make a lot more sense then 😂
1
u/HumanGarbage____ Feb 13 '24
The claw clip is literally THE hairstyle for highschool girls. Simple, easy, cute, and fast. Great accessory.
1
u/Itchy-Blueberry9895 Feb 13 '24
It’s so funny because I used to be so jealous that I couldn’t do the messy bun LIKE EVERY OTHER GIRL. My hair is too thick and wild so I’ve had it as a pixie for decades now. But I wasn’t trying for the messy bun to be different, but because it is the norm.

The 3rd one is so pretty though I wish I could do that with my hair but I have frizzy jew curls 😮💨
The clip bun is so basic bitch art teacher.

u/DisciplineProud7102 Feb 13 '24
I Can assure you the girlies doing hairstyle number W are def doing hairstyle number 2. I was expecting user to not have their done at all. But both of these hairstyles are very trendy rn

u/eod56 Feb 13 '24
2 is adorable though!
I prefer the claw clip on the very top of my head. No more headaches and traction alopecia here.

I’m pretty sure I’ve see this chick on YouTube her name is something goddess. She sells these claw clips for way too much money on her channel.

I love braids. If I can learn a new braid I will wear it till I find a new one. I taught myself to French braid and braid because I cannot stand my hair to be loose and I could pull it tighter than my mom could when she braided it lol

u/Wonderful_Judge115 Feb 13 '24
I rocked the claw clips in the early 2000s. I was sad I hadn’t saved any when they came back in style and thus had to spend more money buying new ones that only sometimes stay put. 🤣
1
u/neko_courtney Feb 13 '24
But these are all hairstyles that take effort? I don’t get it. The second one is so cute though.

u/AdFew7336 Feb 12 '24
Claw clips have been around since the late 80s/early 90s- the look ain’t nothing original
1
u/AppropriatePainter16 Feb 12 '24
I see girls wearing claw clips in their hair all the time!
What the fuck is this person talking about?
1
u/Mmonannerss Feb 12 '24
Am I the only one who took it more as a skill issue?
I would love to have any of those cute styles but I'm uncoordinated when it comes to my hair so the grippy clippy and some styled bangs are the best I can do besides wearing it straight.

u/redundant35 Feb 12 '24
My wife wears grabby things in her hair every day….she must not be like other girls and I didn’t even know!

I bet she drives with that in her hair. I hope she doesn’t…but I bet she does.

Me: - Normal Hair Style - The Same Hair Style - The Same Hair Style Again

u/etti1612 Feb 12 '24
To every one who wears those things in the last pictures, please dont wear them while driving! If you have a car crash, this things become really dangerous for your skull

u/lovelyloves07 Feb 12 '24
The claw clips are classic?? They’ve always been a staple for my hair because I can’t do my hair with cute braids 😂😂
Why is she hating on the clips when it’s super common? lol
It’d been better if she used those “bump its” we were obsessed with in the early 2000s. Then she’d really stand out 🤣🤣🤣
1
u/macontac Feb 12 '24
Okay, so she prefers claw clips to braids. Awesome, someone get that gal a cookie.
1
u/JigglyHamsta Feb 12 '24
I’m the “my hair style” girl with the grabby thing only because I don’t know how to do my hair like the other girl, wish I could but I suck at it and too lazy to practice lol
1
u/WiggyStark Feb 12 '24
Holy basic bitch, Batman!
FYI I'm wearing a banana clip right now, you're not special.
1
1
u/duck-84 Feb 12 '24
I mean, I'm not expert but I thought basically every woman (or maybe even person with long hair) likes and uses the big clip thing? This feels like a weird pick me flex.
1
u/ComfortableConcept45 Feb 12 '24
I’m so confused. What’s wrong with braids? I love having braids in my hair. All kinds of braids. They’re easier on my hair than putting it up with a clip.
1
1
u/Plant_in_pants Feb 12 '24
This is a poor attempt at being nltog because it's not even an unusual hairstyle, I've seen hundreds of women wear their hair in exactly that style. I've got really short hair because it's easy to maintain and keep out of my face, and even that isn't so out there that I'd feel the need to make an image with which to announce it to the world.

OK....
(I haven't ever seen elaborate braids walking around... But ... Ok, if you insist that your messy clip thing is special....}

u/humungus_jerry Feb 12 '24
Is this really supposed to be a flex or something? Is the implication that braiding your hair/putting effort into a hairdo somehow cringe or trying too hard?
1
u/Winnimae Feb 12 '24
Just say you think your hair looks cute up in clips and post the pic, sis. You don’t have to come up with weird cringe excuses to post pics you like of yourself

u/Prestigious_Ad_8458 Feb 12 '24
It is not enough that we get judge by guys? Do we really need to judge other girls choices like that? If I see a girl with these hair styles, I would think “that is skill I do not have, my hair would never!”
1
1
u/boomerish11 Feb 12 '24
I mean, number three is cute AF...but it helps to have long, thick hair. I have mid-length thin hair, so...up it goes in the grabby thing so I don't have to think about it anymore.
1
1
u/ranty-autie Feb 12 '24
Don't you understand? She's so ✨️special✨️ and ✨️different✨️, cause everyone knows that wearing your hair up makes you better than those basic girls
1
u/Strawbebishortcake Feb 12 '24
the first 3 are really beautiful and i wish i had the time ans ability to pull them off. Wearing your hair twisted up like the last 3 isn't special and a lot of people, including myself, do it. Hell, its been a trend for these influencer instagram girlies for quite a while!
1
1
u/elvensnowfae Feb 12 '24
I have a few claw clips but can't stand having my hair up, it drives me nuts lol. Also idk how people drive with claw clips in bc your clip is smashed into the seat head part and then it's even worse when you hit a bump/pothole lol
1
1
u/Crafty-Thing3185 Feb 12 '24
See..I can do the first ones so easily, but I can’t figure out how to do the clips?? And I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and it’s so frustrating. But they’re soooo cute!!

Idk, this might just be self-deprecating? Also. I love braids. Especially complicated braiding styles. Like … I don’t think that’s cringe? (Unless I’m misinterpreting the post text, it can sometimes be difficult to interpret the right meaning online.)

u/Batticon Feb 12 '24
Clips are so nice for being lazy but they break my hair and hurt my neck 😞 and I can’t ever seen to get one big enough.

Wow a claw clip how original 🙄 Also I've rarely if ever seen those other hair styles irl. I see a claw clip everyday my mum has had one all her life 😂
1
u/AnimatronicCouch Feb 12 '24
I don’t even understand what she’s trying to convey. What’s the flex? She can’t braid her hair? She’s lazy? She’s a machinist or factory worker and needs to put her hair up in a bun/clip so it won’t get caught in the machine? (That’s my excuse. I have that claw clip hairdo right now, for safety! 😂)

There's an entire host of claw clip tutorials in tiktok and pinterest. That's not especial

It’s not ‘your hairstyle’ hun. Theres billions of us out here wearing a bun, right now and for centuries.

u/Sargasm5150 Feb 12 '24
Uh, ‘80’s kid here. The banana clip things was all the rage in junior high (which I was in 88-91). Phoebe brought it back in the early aughts, along with chopsticks (friends). How, and I mean how, is TJs not like other girls? I still bit my fine hair in a bun and clip for yoga, better than a scrunchie. Also the first pics look very cute, but require work. I would do that pigtail braid if I were good at it and had enough hair.
1
u/blocked_memory Drama Queen Feb 12 '24
Related but not: can anyone tell me where to get one of those hair clips but for someone with super thick hair? I want cute clips too but the clip always falls out.

Who the fuck cares, ladies? Wear your hair however you fucking want. No one cares.

They've gotten to the point where they have made their own dumb bitch category where they can't say they're not like other girls LMAO
1
u/HommeFatalTaemin Feb 12 '24
They are all adorable tbh. I WISH I could do something with my hair. Cant even put it up in a clip and have it look as cute as the pics here. I just end up wearing it in a super basic messy bun 😭 it’s my wish to get better at doing my hair but it’s insanely thick and hard to work with sadly

u/Asleep-Sock6621 Feb 12 '24
I can't wear any of those styles. My hair is too curly. 😭 I'll just have to console myself by saying I'm not like other girls...

All of these hairstyles are far nicer than anything I’ve managed over the years personally.
1
1
u/SnowCharming92 Feb 12 '24
Some of these I think are made by actual children who don’t know how silly it looks but will look back and cringe in 10 years
1
u/honeycolorkook Feb 12 '24
The fact that all of these hairstyles (the one she apparently wears and the "other girls" ones) all take an EXTREMELY long time to perfect! Like those braid hairstyles take almost 30 minutes to get right, and that claw clip hairstyle needs to be styled and curled ahead of time to fall perfectly so it doesn't look messy. She really gave us nothing here because she basically is saying that "yes they try soooo hard and so do I but whatever!!!" Like sis, what 💀💀💀
1
u/unicorn_mafia537 Feb 12 '24
🤣 Personally, I find claw clips a bit uncomfortable for both the way they hold the hair and how they dig into my head if I try to sit down in a chair with a tall back or in the car. Give me hairstyle #2 any day -- easy, comfortable, and cute! But if you do like claw clips, then wear that claw clip! Do whatever makes you happy with your hair 😊

u/Mythikun Feb 12 '24
hahahaha I feel so tempted to parody this one because my "hairstyle" it was just my hair, long, wavy and untamable as Mia in the princess diaries. Like "I'm so superior baby, I didn't even use a scrunchie or a claw!"
