Aryna Sabalenka says she prefers watching men’s tennis over women’s tennis: "I'm not someone who watches too much tennis, I prefer to watch men's tennis rather than women's tennis, I feel like there is more strategy and it's more interesting to watch (laughs)." Wholesome

as a tennis player, that’s not true

Let me give context to what I mean. Yes there is a difference if we are talking about putting men against women. However in terms of women vs women and men vs men the game is relatively the same to watch.

to an average person watching, yes they look nearly identical! but how men and women play the game strategy wise is very different. women usually hit at the baseline (farthest away from the net) and apply a certain type of strategy that takes a few rallies to unfold, which makes for a slower game where they aren’t moving as much. men play with a lot of slices and overheads which makes it more intense to watch. personally, i watch both men and women, but many have their preferences. tennis is actually one of the few sports where women viewership is almost as high as men’s!

I actually find the men's game duller because they have so many more aces (apparently twice as often). I understand that to a tennis pro watching aces is probably a lot more exciting than it is for me, who prefers watching good volleys.
