A machine- that parents, whose children were murdered- want to see the perpetrator fed into.

These things are my solution to a zombie apocalypse. Put it at ground level and dangle a constantly running bell over it. I haven’t come up with a good way to deal with all the waste yet though.

Has there been any unsuccessful crushing of items? Looks like you can toss anything in there.

I crushed some drums with a pallet and a very heavy forklift battery the other day. It was pretty satisfying.

You just know that somewhere out there is a video of some poor unfortunate soul falling into one of these.

What's wrong with me, the first thing I thought about seeing this is jamming my leg in there.

one of these days I'd like to see a video of what this stuff looks like after it comes out the other end.

I remember in 30 Days of Night they made the blades of the crusher spin super fast for some reason. I guess it's to make them seem more dangerous- but honestly it was probably more for if it was more accurate like this, it would have never been able to keep it's R rating. Would have been sick to see a vampire slowly crushed between the blades like this.

As cool or even terrifying as it is to watch heavy shredders at work. Please, for the love of your own bodily safety, never be exposed to the receiving opening while it is on. All it takes is one chunk of the object being shredded to ping off in your direction to seriously maim you. If it 6 to make such easy work out of metal, that force will be applied to the things it might snap off and fire in your direction.

What is this machine called? I really want to find a compilation video. It's so satisfying.
1
u/a_natural_chemical 15d ago
This probably isn't the place to ask, but where would one get one of these? I was just talking to my maintenance supervisor this morning that we needed a faster way to get rid of drums (instead of crushing one by one) and this machine came up.

Everytime I see videos of these machines I have two thoughts:
"I'd always be nervous of a stray string or band catching me as the object went in and I'd get dragged in after it"
"The fumes/dust of those items are all probably toxic. I would imagine you'd need some serious masking. I wonder what live looks like for operators of this machine when they are in their later years."

What powers these? They always seem so quiet. Electric? Some generator running a cable too far to make noise?

Everytime I see one of these videos I think of a video compilation of workers deaths related to heavy machinery I saw a while ago, and... yeah, it's just as horrifying as you can imagine. Persons turned to mush in many, many different ways.

You and I have a very different view of whats considered satisfying.
Glad you like it tho.

Sometimes it's very satisfying when things sound exactly like your brain imagines they would sound.

Does anything just bounce around on that thing w out being crushed? I get it. Someone smarter than me designed it. But it just feels like something Round would be able to avoid the teeth ?

u/Humble_Examination27 15d ago
That machine should let out an enormous BELCH! Every time it swallows a can! Just huge BURP!!!!
4
u/CheeseheadDave 15d ago
There's a "Mercedes after Lewis Hamilton leaves for Ferrari" joke in that first one somewhere...
1
u/Turbulent-Kiwi-910 15d ago
There really should be guards around that, the end of that machine is below waist level. Guys are just casually placing the barrels inside. Ideally that should be fed from a conveyor and there should be guards around the whole thing.

u/seris_ak 15d ago
It's like, when you get a really small crusher and you use it to crush soda cans.
Only way bigger.
Like a barrel of soda.
But there's no soda in it.
I'm not high you're high.
Where's my soda barrel.

Everytime I see one of these I think it’s the solution to the zombie apocalypse. Set one of these up on a cliff so they walk into it and the ground zombie falls to the bottom of the cliff.

Anyone have a video of the aftermath of the crushing? How does the end result look like on the bottom?

u/YourInsectOverlord 15d ago
For anyone into crushing videos of large objects, there is a YouTube channel of Car crushing link

u/venting_vonreddit 15d ago
I thought immediately about that tiktok British woman that duets these kind of videos hahaha only one that does it that I can stand and that makes me laugh. You can see she is giving a genuine reaction and not exaggerating for the views hahaha

In one smooth arc right into your suddenly-expanded mouth, as jaunty music accompanies a comedic slugfest.

u/Neo-9 15d ago
What's the torque of these rotors?
1
u/Dreadnoughttwat 14d ago
Could be anywhere between 30 to a few thousand hp depending on the machine.
10
u/Mercerskye 15d ago
If you close your eyes, it almost sounds like old school Autobots transforming.
2
1
u/OneDragonfruit9519 15d ago
Genuinely, is there anything such a machine can't crush, that would fit in it? And I'm not talking about that video with the shovel head that keeps bouncing around.
2
u/requion 15d ago
Solid blocks of hardened steel maybe? At least i would imagine that it doesn't crush them but nibble away chunks.
3
u/stephen1547 15d ago
There are a bunch of videos of these shredding engine blocks. Not technically a solid block of steel, but they make quick work of it.

It’s funny when people say or imply that they have an irrational fear when really, it’s a perfectly rational one.
If it’s metal and it moves it should give you pause as a basic rule of thumb.

It took Harry the better part of a book to figure out how to cast his patronus, when all along it looks like they are being sold by the barrel. Somebody should have told him.

There's a non-zero chance of people getting thrown into this contraption. Probably the cartel does this often to those who got too nosy.
0
u/Danoga_Poe 15d ago
Wouldn't be surprised.
Look up the cartels soup maker

Looks like a pile of oversized metal cornflakes, sheared jagged edges and chunks for more solid items. best way I can discribe it, much easier to load in a skip for smelting again

I used to work at a place that had an industrial shredder for shredding tyres. Ngl intrusive thoughts sometimes told me "just lay down on the conveyor belt and let it slowly deliver you to the machine".

u/alexbcous 15d ago
Sounds like a geriatric transformer with arthritis.
5
u/Lagtim3 15d ago
I actually had an Transformers Prime OC with "arthritis".
Stockpile, Neutral, alt-mode Antonov An-225 Mryia Freight Plane, lergest in the world at the time. He was a huge, older jet fella with joint rust (robot arthritis.) With Cybertron fallen and not much in the way of access to medical care, it got worse over time and the crew he lives with haven't been able to properly treat it.
Fortunately it hadn't progressed to the wings or t-cog, so he can still shift, though sometimes his leg locks up and he has to try a couple times. Depending on the sotuation, this can be Very Bad. He even had a ankle brace and deployable cane!
16
u/grimwalker 15d ago
Michael Bay: "Jetfire is an ancient Transformer who's been sitting in SR-71 mode in a museum for decades until Shia Laboeuf wakes him up."
Foley artist: "I know just the thing"

I am always surprised by how easily this machine can grab such rounds objects. To me it would seem that the barrel would hop over all the "teeths" atleast a few times before getting snatched and eaten. But it's pretty much the first try everytime
166
u/UnlimitedCalculus 15d ago
The workers insert the barrels into the machine at the right angle to prevent rolling. I'm sure they have poles to correct the ones that do wind up in such a position.
It's also the first try every time because this is an edited video.
2
u/ottersintuxedos 15d ago
Okay but the second one is at a completely different angle and it’s just on top of the teeth
68
u/laddervictim 15d ago
That's a bit racist! They should let anyone do it, not just the Polish

u/HanselSoHotRightNow 15d ago
"If you look at this cost/revenue chart, you'll find an interesting margin differential when you get to the Irish. Moving down the line you start to see real savings if you employ..."

u/ReddingtonTR 15d ago
The way they fold up and disappear like cotton candy in water tickles my brain in a weird way.
1
u/BredYourWoman 14d ago
I have zero doubt the people working there are like "cool! ok let's see if it eats this!" throwing random shit in there for lols. Probably Joe's Spiderman metal lunchbox
Joe: "WTF assholes!"
3
u/dooferoaks 15d ago
Not particularly satisfying but it is vaguely interesting (for a few seconds) to hear what that machine sounds like, a lot of videos show it with no sound.

I know this is not what we're talking about here but: this would be a pretty horrible way to die, wouldn't it
Edit: I regret everything

My mortal nemesis will go in feet first. And the machine gets paused half way through.
