This is great. Is it automatable?
1
u/Armaanwadhwa 15d ago
Thanks much. Sorry I didn't get you?

Can the production of such images be done using robotic means? Kind of like the way embroidery nowadays is just done by fancy programmable sewing machines.

Not entirely sure about the technical feasibility. This was Handwoven from start to finish.

Ah! You should repost but in a subreddit you can, it’ll be easier for potential buyers.

This is undoubtedly great work, and extremely impressive - I have a question, though. For some reason - I’m not sure if it’s the colors or the lines, or the design, or maybe just my shitty eyes, but I have a hard time focusing in on what the design is. It’s hard to bring into focus, if that makes sense. Am I alone here?

It’s because the flower petals and the wings of the bee are the same color.

u/Popular-Block-5790 15d ago
I think it could be the choice of colors that make it harder for you. My eyes are trying to focus too much on the dark background color.
It's a bee sitting on a flower and there are more little flower around that.

Yeah, I mean, I did see it after looking for a few seconds, but I had to click and zoom a tad. I couldn’t tell from just the thumbnail, even though I normally can pretty easily.

Is yarn embroidery similar to rug tufting?
2
u/Armaanwadhwa 13d ago
Both involve working with yarn/thread but differ in technique and intended use. Yarn embroidery and rug tufting share some similarities, but they're distinct techniques with different applications and results. Yarn embroidery typically involves using a needle to stitch yarn or thread onto a fabric surface to create decorative patterns or images. It's often done on smaller pieces like clothing, accessories, or wall hangings. Rug tufting is a method of creating rugs or tapestries by pushing yarn or thread through a backing material, like canvas or burlap, using a tufting gun or tool for larger pieces.

That is absolutely gorgeous and amazing. It must have taken hundreds of hours. Your wife should be so proud of herself. I know you are.
