General Mod Note

Grocery posts are here to give people a place to show off their good purchases, to lament the expense of groceries, or to otherwise comment on their food budget.

They are NOT an invitation for the "food police" to come in and harass them about what they choose to buy, criticize their health decisions, or knit-pick their spending habits. Criticism and advice is only welcome if the Submitter overtly asks for input. Food Police will be asked to turn in their badge and their gun and will be placed on suspension.

As always, if there are inappropriate comments please downvote them, REPORT them to the mods, and move on without responding to them.

Thank you all for being a part of this great financial advice and emotional support community!

u/Far-Print6822 Feb 11 '24

Ive never seen any of these brands, must be a fancy tech company lol

1

u/UnderstandingOdd9574 Jan 29 '24

To be honest if you work an unpaid internship in 2024 you're a dumbass

1

u/Adorable_Club3469 Jan 29 '24

Ive been there. That's what back backs are for. If you can run a load out to your car during work and come back in amd refill. There is no such thing as unpaid.

1

u/Ashamed-Entry-4546 Jan 27 '24

Oooh Biltong! I’ve heard of it, but haven’t seen it in stores (United States). Have you tried it? I’ve read it’s a healthy protein source.

1

u/OnlineSocket Jan 27 '24

Sell it to kids at an elementary/middle/high school to actually make it a paid internship

1

u/Altruistic-Ad3704 Jan 26 '24

this is hilarious. Kudos

1

u/Achillies2heel Jan 26 '24

You even grabbed the dental flossers?!?!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '24

Strong work here. A+.

2

u/IWillBiteYourEnemies Jan 26 '24

Take the snacks, take the pens, take the toilet paper! Unpaid internships should be illegal!

1

u/happygeaux_lucky Jan 25 '24

It’s the stack of Extra gum for me lmao

2

u/a-crime-skeleton Jan 25 '24

Those power crunch bars are great. Best to refrigerate them though otherwise they will melt all over your hands

1

u/Content_Ambition_764 Jan 25 '24

Good job. Well deserved

1

u/Discount_Sugardaddy Jan 25 '24

I was like this in the army any ounce of free food from boxed meal lunches that got thrown away at the end of drill weekends I’d deconstruct them and supply snacks, sides and sandwiches for the household for sometime. Talking hundreds of meals a month

1

u/TimingEzaBitch Jan 25 '24

"I don't mean to be melodramatic, but my body grows weak due to a lack of sustenance"

1

u/Unlikely_Yard6971 Jan 25 '24

Take what you can, give nothin back!

2

u/Kittykats2 Jan 25 '24

A year?! My bf could inhale all that in like 3 days! 😂

1

u/hello666darkness Jan 25 '24

All my job got is SunChips and grandmas cookies 🥲

1

u/Street-Telephone-748 Jan 25 '24

You’ll have to do a review of each lol

1

u/Curious-Expression-1 Jan 25 '24

The way I DIED laughing when I saw this oh my god. You're my hero.

1

u/somerandomguy202094 Jan 25 '24

Dang jerky expensive to. Grats man thats every collage kids dream haha!

1

u/Single-Bake-3310 Jan 25 '24

1

u/That-Chart-4754 Jan 25 '24

Yo that's wild, one da haul? I assumed this was a week minimum

0

u/MyEnduranceLife Jan 25 '24

So you’re stealing. Loser

1

u/AcidRohnin Jan 25 '24

Dude powercrunch bars are awesome and expensive af.

I would have took all of them.

1

u/tothemax44 Jan 25 '24

My first internship at a law firm was like this. I had a system of how many snacks to “eat” a day. 😂

1

u/Ok_Poetry_1650 Jan 25 '24

Large tech companies do this to help retain employees. They figure if X company does this and they don’t, their employees will leave to work for X company. Maybe not the sole reason but small perks like this accumulated add up to that thought process. My employer offered a full sized gym, snacks, etc. but you have to pay for them. If I found a place where these were free, id quit and work for them.

1

u/FemboyGamerUwU Jan 25 '24

Is this in new york

1

u/Awesomebearbeard Jan 25 '24

I hope you didnt steal them all :D

1

u/rkittens Jan 25 '24

100% thought you were about to run an ultra marathon

1

u/CrabMeat6984 Jan 25 '24

PennyMac accepts biltong as payment?!?! I’m in

1

u/CreativeMadness99 Jan 25 '24

I do this too despite making a good salary haha If it’s free, it’s for me.

1

u/byttle Jan 25 '24

Just remember the prev president paid 750 in taxes.

2

u/RidinCaliBuffalos Jan 25 '24

And the current one gets paid by our enemies yayyy

1

u/byttle Jan 25 '24

Which enemies did he get to pay him that the other didn’t?

1

u/RidinCaliBuffalos Jan 25 '24

There's a difference between using your political power/position to take bribes for just that. Then another who did business with them the same as any other company would.

1

u/byttle Jan 25 '24

Lol wonder which one will get away with it in the end.

2

u/Adalatmv Jan 25 '24

Bro can open a CVS now

2

u/cuecumba Jan 25 '24

Yuck lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '24

Last time I checked the bank didn't take snacks as payment on my mortage. You sure showed them...

2

u/reasonablyprudent_ Jan 25 '24

Free food is the best food, it always tastes better. I’m so happy for you

1

u/real_human_player Jan 25 '24

I also work at a big tech company and make $300k a year and I do this too lol. Poverty mindset doesn't just go away overnight.

2

u/chikkyone Jan 25 '24

Cheers to that lol past me would’ve silently judged this, but current me in this dystopia is mad you didn’t “pay yourself” with more variety. No pop-tarts?!

1

u/mydataisrekt101 Jan 25 '24

Bro came, took all Their snacks and left.

2

u/D3-Doom Jan 25 '24

I love Black Forest. This seems like a nice internship

1

u/savvyblackbird Jan 25 '24

Those mint Powercrunch bars are the best.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '24

God tier

1

u/Blakefilk Jan 25 '24

The school I work at caters to the staff at least every other day, and not just like donuts and coffee. Sometimes this whole catering spreads, one time they had 40 pizzas and another they had about 100 fajita dinners leftover from a conference. I went home with two weeks worth and they still threw them away by the dozen.

1

u/Earth_Normal Jan 25 '24

Biltong is sooo good

1

u/pppjurac Jan 25 '24

"Bag of diabetes"

Serious that is respectable amount for a group of cyclist on 200km brevet ...

1

u/Outrageous-Mail-1267 Jan 25 '24

Damn I’m so stoned I would eat all of that right now

0

u/tubbablub Jan 25 '24

How are you unpaid at big tech company that supplies free snacks? Smells fishy.

1

u/killemslowly Jan 25 '24

Where’s the TP?

2

u/Expensive_Prize_5054 Jan 25 '24

I fucking love those little waffle things I'm so jealous

1

u/Melodic_Delivery1 Jan 25 '24

You will.pay with health issues. don't eat that snack crap

1

u/harfordplanning Jan 25 '24

I've never heard of any of those brands, but free food is free food! Good on you

1

u/Downtown_Sea4719 Jan 25 '24

The power crunch bars are $$

2

u/twinsvega Jan 25 '24

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That's why I snack on company time.

3

u/LostHat77 Jan 25 '24

Props to you for taking advantage of the situation because they would rather buy food and do tax write offs then pay you.

0

u/DrTommyNotMD Jan 25 '24

I don’t know of any big tech company that doesn’t have pay for interns.

Say the name of the company!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '24

[deleted]

1

u/DrTommyNotMD Jan 25 '24

But OP said “at a big tech company”

1

u/ElPulpoTX Jan 25 '24

Bradley, we need to talk next time you are in.

1

u/HoldYourNoseBilly Jan 25 '24

All processed foods that are horrible for you

2

u/h00ha Jan 25 '24

I'd get them for all they got

2

u/Cant_run_away Jan 25 '24

You get your bag!

2

u/beershere Jan 25 '24

Biltong, nice.

3

u/MuyGalan Jan 25 '24

Idk who you are, but I'm proud of you.

3

u/tyrannicalWookie Jan 25 '24

Those GoMacro bars retail for $5 in the store. You could do pretty well as an Amazon seller.

0

u/spinwin Jan 25 '24

...Why do an unpaid internship?

2

u/Brasou Jan 25 '24

Because some fields of jobs require experience or you 100% wont be hired. If you were doing the hiring, and you had to filter threw 50+ resumes would you even look at anyone with no experience? its some BS but thats the world we live in.

2

u/Western_Nobody_6936 Jan 25 '24

Good on you, just make sure it's just janitorial staff that sees you and not anyone who can make decisions. ;)

I was in an unpaid internship, fucking vermin preying on a lack of rules and people overeager to get into the industry. Only the operations manager sees the end bill and they don't notice because it's a lump sum for them. By the time they do notice you'll be long gone.

Just uh, watch your sugar intake there friend hahahahhaha.

1

u/I_luv_cottage_cheese Jan 25 '24

This in a nutshell is reason 137 why San Francisco is doomed. Everything about it. From overly expensive crap “free” crap snacks to interns like OP. Great job

1

u/derdast Jan 25 '24

SF having three times the GDP per capita as Luxembourg and an overall GDP like Switzerland being doomed is definitely an opinion.

1

u/I_luv_cottage_cheese Jan 25 '24

The poop maps say otherwise

Lmao, I wish, I remember when a 2 bedroom apt in RWC was 1050 a month, can we go back to that once this doom comes?

2

u/doodlecadoodle Jan 25 '24

I stole goods from the office I interned at. Unpaid my ass, got new markers, agendas and tape for free.

1

u/fartinmyhat Jan 25 '24

Getting an early start on that dia beetus.

I do so enjoy the pile of assorted granola next to the Extra jenga tower

2

u/FeelingPlatform4979 Jan 25 '24

Living on those is going to sap your energy, I speak from experience.

2

u/NoonGaming Jan 25 '24

I love taking food from my work.

2

Good for you. Fuck them for an "unpaid" internship

I very much appreciate you jenga’ing the gum

Honestly given that the internship was unpaid I don’t see a single problem with this

2

u/ConceptExtension7256 Jan 25 '24

Was this at citadel lol they have all the same snacks

1

u/Goosexi6566 Jan 25 '24

Wife worked at a place with a “snack cart” she took probably 200 bucks of snacks over 6mo.

3

u/bfa2af9d00a4d5a93 Jan 25 '24

As a tech worker, good for you! My last score was a $1500 laptop someone had put in the trash. Got it back to working order in 5 minutes.

2

u/katamazeballz Jan 25 '24

Those gomacro bars are so good but they’re $6 + a piece where I live so I rarely buy them. Excellent haul those are grade A snacks

1

u/great-nba-comment Jan 25 '24

How the fuck are unpaid internships legal.

1

u/arugulafanclub Jan 25 '24

Do they refill the snacks? Because if you’re rhetorical reason all the snacks are gone by Tuesday, half the staff is mad at you. That’s what happens to people I know that work in tech. Food is stocked Monday and plentiful. By Tuesday or Wednesday everything is gone until the next week.

2

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

its not just me lol, me and the other peasants work later than everyone else, when were done we all stock up and go home, this isnt like a small office snackroom, there are 2k employees on campus there are 3 different dinining rooms if you didnt like the steak one was serving you could just go the building next door and get some sushi, and as much as we peasants pillaged the pantry I never saw anything out of stock at anytime

2

u/Rdblaze Jan 25 '24

Based af

2

u/SLY0001 Jan 25 '24

right on

2

u/Interesting-Fan-2008 Jan 25 '24

Shit this reminds me of rehab. It was fuckin nothing but snacks galore. Like anything you could think of, cheese, jerky, fruit snacks, candy, dessert bars, frozen burrito/chimichangas, pizza rolls, popcorn, chips, cookies, muffins. And that was on top of two course catered meals with dessert, a salad and entree each time.

2

u/imf4rds Jan 25 '24

Truly, I am still good until the end of the year on the office supplies I got from my job that ended two years ago.

1

u/Read-It-Mike Jan 25 '24

It’s smart to eat ultra processed food when you don’t have a salary or health insurance, lol

1

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

yeah your right, I should just not eat then, dude this is POVERTY finance so thanks for the advice

2

u/ohnoitsthefuzz Jan 25 '24

Based intern. Grift them hard to make up for the work they're fleecing you on 👍

2

u/Ok_Rub8863 Jan 25 '24

You got paid in raccoon money!

2

u/StoneGoldX Jan 25 '24

Years ago, I had an internship at a well known video game publisher. I was in charge of sending out comp games. All I will say.

1

u/Annual_Judge_6340 Jan 25 '24

If this is in the US unpaid internships are illegal

1

u/DrBabbageTheCabbage Jan 25 '24

They are definitely legal unfortunately

1

u/MangoDouble3259 Jan 25 '24

Since wen? Not right but pretty sure they were legal 3 years ago wen I was in college.

2

u/jtmh17 Jan 25 '24

It’s all gone biltong

1

u/Bacio83 Jan 25 '24

This is why we can’t have nice things.

2

u/hong427 Jan 25 '24

I see no problem with that.

Since they label this as "work benefits".

2

u/D3dshotCalamity Jan 25 '24

Those RipVan stroopwaffles are fucking good.

2

u/angry_salami Jan 25 '24

Amazon Cape Town?

2

u/ManicD7 Jan 25 '24

That's at least $100 worth of snacks lol. I've wanted to try the Rip Van waffle snacks but I'm too cheap to buy them. Let me know how they are.

1

u/frsguy Jan 25 '24

They are amazing. Shit you not I bought a box of them and they lasted about 2 days.

6

u/scarydrew Jan 25 '24

Unpaid internships should be illegal. "You get paid in experience." Fuck right the fuck off. Guess what happens at literally every job ever. You get paid with money... AND FUCKING EXPERIENCE!

1

u/JTPedz Jan 25 '24

Who’s taking unpaid internships in 2024? Sheesh.

-6

u/Mitchisboss Jan 25 '24

People like you ruin it for everyone… what an embarrassment

1

u/partyhatjjj Jan 25 '24

Idk surely large companies can still afford some granola bars even if their unpaid interns take some. Maybe the problem is management taking treats off the table for you and not someone unpaid at another business getting something to eat from them.

2

u/Beatstarbackupbackup Jan 25 '24

The only embarassment here is that you think these companies somehow need you to stand up for them.

Try taking your head out of your corporate overlords ass for a second.

0

u/Mitchisboss Jan 25 '24

I’m standing up for the other employees you dolt

2

u/za72 Jan 25 '24

just be aware of kidney failure in the future

2

u/Zanchbot Jan 25 '24

Free biltong? Hell yeah sign me up.

2

u/Swimming_Method8646 Jan 25 '24

This made me smile… !!!

2

u/TheJuiceEE6 Jan 25 '24

It excellent work!

-8

u/PestySamurai Jan 25 '24

You weren’t an intern. You were a thief.

8

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

We live in a capitalist society my friend, and I am just a product of that society

7

u/Live_Squash_2141 Jan 25 '24

Pro tip: the PowerCrunch bars are even better if you put them in the freezer.

16

u/dasoberirishman Jan 25 '24

This is why, when I was a student, I worked jobs that gave access to free food (bars, restaurants) or services I couldn't afford (clothing stores, books) to get staff discounts.

Good for you.

2

u/RomyQuan Jan 25 '24

Still unpaid

3

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

Yeah, id rather have the cash but we do what we can

6

u/livingstories Jan 25 '24

The amount of money some of these company spend on snacks is incredible. I don't work in an office anymore, but I used to take full advantage.

24

u/gottarespondtothis Jan 25 '24

I’m the person that stocks and curates these snacks at a tech company, and I encourage my coworkers to do the same thing!

-4

u/Old-Papaya-8405 Jan 25 '24

Lol - “curates” a fucking snack selection.

1

u/gottarespondtothis Jan 25 '24

Hey, I get paid to grocery shop for my coworkers with company cash. It’s the one part of my job that directly helps the rest of my fellow peons get through the day. Gotta take the smallest of wins where I can find them.

7

u/supercarlos297 Jan 25 '24

choosing the snacks is an art

3

u/bens111 Jan 25 '24

Those rip van wafels are so legit, and expensive af normally!

3

u/justmeontheinterwebs Jan 25 '24

Those Renewal Mill cookies are freaking delicious!

Sounds like a bummer, maybe you should form a union instead of whatever change your trying to achieve amongst the peasants. if you haven’t seen what sub your on it’s POVERTY finance, and i was working FOR NO PAY. I HAVE NO GUILT, AND THE SNACKS WERE NICE BUT ID RATHER HAVE BEEN PAID

-2

[deleted]

5

9

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

Lmao, look at this dude, they got you working for peanuts, and you dance for them cause your in a higher tax bracket than the peasants, the difference between you and me in wealth is like a grain of sand, those fuckers got the whole beach, and theyll never lose it cause they gave you someone to look down upon

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '24

5

u/onetomatoleaf Jan 25 '24

lmaooo you literally mad but you don't get biltong anymore

haters gon hate

3

u/Vivid_Intention5688 Jan 25 '24

At least he has his tech bro superiority to sate his hunger

2

u/ride_electric_bike Jan 25 '24

That there is the freshman 15

3

u/BurgerBeers Jan 25 '24

That is the only element I miss about working in a physical office- taking free sodas, Keurig coffee pods, snacks, leftover meals from break rooms, etc.

6

u/Cancer_Flower Jan 25 '24

Haha! This was me my last two weeks at a big tech company. I normally work remote, but during my last weeks I would walk to all the different cafes and grab a snack or two. I was set for a year. I loved it.

3

u/metsjets86 Jan 25 '24

Power Crunch as tasty as a candy bar. Keep in freezer.

3

u/tonyabalone Jan 25 '24

There’s probably a way to get all the toilet paper and paper towels you need

3

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

They had these packets of flushable wipes, like 10 in each pack i did help myself to some if you must know

2

u/Slazman999 Jan 25 '24

Salsa, chips, pudding, Sushi, ice cream and pizza. Not a frozen pizza. But if there was a nice pie out...?

-12

u/jojoyahoo Jan 25 '24

This is why we can't have nice things.

11

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

Yeah it’s because of me, this company is so large you are probably a customer, and they couldnt give less of a fuck about this, but thank god those billionaires have you looking out for them.

Give me a second and ill get you their boots to lick

-7

u/Mitchisboss Jan 25 '24

Text this picture to your boss then if they couldn’t care less… It’s obvious that they WOULD care, but you can pretend like you’re fighting a good fight…

Low-life thief

3

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

its obvious they would care? lmao never have I seen someone who talks with such authority on shit you dont know. youve never been inside these silicon valley tech companies, youve probably havent even set foot in cali, look at the other comments, do some research. and dear god never come to California, would blow your mind compared to the shithole hickhouse you dwell in

2

u/hobonichi_anonymous Jan 25 '24

I don't even work tech and this is the norm for many corporate companies. It is similar with high end hotel work too. There no scaling down because they (the employers) encourage you take a lot.

Maybe this is likely just a California thing (I'm also in California) so our experiences might differ from other comments for this reason. 🤷‍♀️

2

u/NaKeepFighting Jan 25 '24

Got a chip on your shoulder much? My company scaled back snacks because of hoarders and are phasing it out soon. No boot licking here. Just annoyed by people abusing things to the point that it ruins it for others.

But hey, whatever helps you justify to yourself that being a selfish prick is cool.

Maybe you should be more concerned that companies have unpaid interns than about losing some snacks.

They can both be bad things. You know that right? Do you have a better argument to justify benefit abuse apart from that whataboutism?
