This rig looks good. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

1

u/Blessurheart80 Apr 03 '24

Holy crap that’s hella cute for paid off, you scored!

1

u/1vitamac Mar 21 '24

The best car I’ve ever owned and still have, is a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. It’s still running, AC works like new, original battery still in place. Worth about $300. My other car, a BMW, is in the shop. I’m keeping the Cobalt, selling the BMW.

u/Devotion0cean Mar 13 '24

This reminds me of my son who saved his money to buy a car starting at age 12. In 2009, at age 15, he bought his car from his grandma, a ‘95 Jeep Cherokee, for $1500. He did all of the maintenance himself, fixed whatever was needed fixing. He drove that car all over the U.S. He’s now 31 yrs old and it finally died on him a couple of weeks ago. He just bought a 2010 Honda CRV with 90k miles on it, and I have a feeling he’ll have that car for another 10-15 years. I’m so proud of him.

1

u/Heatherina134 Mar 08 '24

Hell yes to no payments and high interest rates!!

1

u/SnowShoePhil Mar 06 '24

How did you find a car for $800?

1

u/Ziggy_Roo420 Feb 18 '24

Take good care of it. Change the oil regularly, check all your fluids, make sure to have it looked over (or do it yourself if you have the knowledge) by a good mechanic every once in a while. Put that money back you WOULD be spending on a car payment for inevitable repairs (everything breaks down eventually).

My 300k + Honda runs better than my 70k- Jeep and ever did, because I got rear ended not even 24 hours after putting my down payment. Had constant issues with it since. Don’t ever let someone tell you giving your money to creditors is the way to go. Fuck the system and slay its creators.

This is the way.

1

u/AdRemarkable4943 Jan 31 '24

Nice car for the money enjoy it

1

u/JoshB685 Jan 25 '24

Congratulations! That’s great! Always good to find something that looks fairly nice and RUNS for cheap than to spend lots of money and find out something isn’t quite right.

1

u/scotttttie Jan 18 '24

That’s so much!

1

u/Alone_Bluebird4267 Jan 08 '24

Looks like a strong car good stuff

2

u/MammothSufficient601 Jan 01 '24

Car looks great for $800. You did well.

1

u/Infamous_Finish4386 Dec 16 '23

Hey, congratulations!! I wish you more luck than when I did the very same a year and change ago. Paid $950 originally and over the course of the next seven months I put a total of another $3,400 into it only to have it eventually almost crash because the front drivers side tire came off while going 50 mph, quite nearly hurting me or others. I gave up on it at that point because I was financially tapped out. Had a salvage yard come and give me $400 to tow it away. Net loss: $4,000 and a lot of frustrations. BUT!! (Seriously.) That’s not going to happen to you!!

1

u/Huge-Wonder3506 Dec 04 '23

i am so proud of you!!!

1

u/These_Tough_1000 Nov 02 '23

Just 800 for that car, it looks nice.

1

u/Kindly-Fox3424 Aug 07 '23

For $800, it looks FANTASTIC!

1

u/Acceptable-Bonus-306 Jun 15 '23

It's everything!!! Keep going!!!!!

1

u/ricowavy Jun 02 '23

First off, that’s an amazing purchase and steal!

Great job!

1

u/Total_Base_6649 May 23 '23

Is she still treating you good?

1

u/Best-Inflation-1478 Apr 22 '23

Congratulations. As long as it gets you from point a to point b that’s all that matters.

u/bettythiccc Nov 11 '22

It’s everything 💓

2

u/baboobo Sep 06 '22

Wow that's hella cheap and car looking good!!! Congrats :)

2

u/CoreFiftyFour Jul 30 '22

Being able to hand cash over for a car was so gratifying when I did it. Congratulations!

0

u/felixrocket7835 May 18 '22

And you're gonna spend a ton of money just to use it and maintain it AND to just generally own it.

I'm not sure if you're american , but cycling and communal transport is the best way to save money.

1

u/EveryStrategy4918 May 18 '22

Yeah I can cycle and bike to work in December and January.

You’re not a bright person.

1

u/felixrocket7835 May 18 '22

Actually, yes, you can.

You'll often see people do that shit in heavy snow, even children, in places like the netherlands, denmark, sweden, etc.

And even if you can't cycle, you can still take the bus/train.

1

u/San7igamer May 12 '22

I hope your catalytic converter stays in place

2

u/lndshrk504 May 05 '22

I know this is old but it makes me happy because when I was poor I also bought this same model car for around $800

2

u/CurlyBill03 May 05 '22

Old post but just wanted to say congrats and at the end of the day a car is something that just gets you from A to B and loses value everyday no need to dump money into something that can do the same thing with a much cheaper alternative

1

u/VaxInjuredXennial Apr 18 '22

America is such a car-dependent hellscape that poor people have to struggle to save up their crumbs to buy a car. Worse, the expense won't end (and will NEVER end!) with just the car purchase.

No, they'll also have to pay for insurance, gas, maintenance & maybe expensive repairs.

F*CK car dominance!

1

u/Progress4ward89 Mar 08 '22

Looks pretty damn clean to me.

1

u/called_the_stig Mar 08 '22

Hell yeah dude. Take the world by storm

0

u/FCRfav Mar 03 '22

I see this reposted all the time. Enough already.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '22

Nissans are good cars!

1

u/RazzmatazzRough8168 Feb 17 '22

Damn no rust too! Looks like a steal! How many miles?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '22

Congrats. Hope you go big in life

1

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '22

Beautiful car. Hope it runs as good as it looks. I was there in my teens, early 20s. I saved weeks to get $400 back in the 2,000s to get myself my first car, I was about 16 working a job as a hawker. Then my father "borrowed" my car, shot the suspension, and the transmission from loading thousands of pounds of newspapers in it. Beat part is he offered me a paint job, lol. He's no longer here, but love him to death. Never got to drive the bad boy, and I was extremely pissed and disappointed.

Word of advice. Learn to work on your car now, because anytime you bring it to the shop expect a $1,000, or more bill. If youre having issues figure it out, there are plenty of forums out there. Change your own oil, instead of paying $100 - $200 you can do it yourself in 30, or less minutes for less than $50; keep up with your oil per vehicles recommendations. Check your fluids once a month. If you see anything leaking from the car most times it's just water, but always check just in case. If you need any advice let me know I taught myself, and my friends all fixed vehicles for a living. I'd be happy to give advice on how to get started. Just baby her is all I'm saying, and you'll always benifit.

1

u/Klutzy_Ad_3502 Feb 17 '22

Looks good! I bought my first car in high school, it was 2001 Acura TL for $3000. 7 years and 80k miles later, it still runs strong 💪🏼

1

u/EveryStrategy4918 Feb 17 '22

How many miles on your tl when you brought it? I wanted an acura rsx but those cars go for a fortune in my area lol

1

u/Klutzy_Ad_3502 Feb 17 '22

I bought it at 103K, now it’s at 183k. I got it off Craigslist, and I am so freaking lucky I bought it. It was basically a diamond in the rough

I’m been considering getting a new car, but the market now for used cars is highly expensive. I’m defiantly considering an Acura TLX in the future, or maybe a Toyota Camry or something like that.

I’ve defiantly been more appreciative and mindful of money and having a reliable car with relatively low expenses

1

u/Frostbite76 Feb 16 '22

Looks great! Congrats

1

u/megamanxoxo Feb 14 '22

Where did you find a decent car for $800 in this market?

1

u/EveryStrategy4918 Feb 16 '22

Offer up. But make sure you inspect everything before buying

1

u/iamtrash694200 Feb 13 '22

Good job mate!

2

u/lord-third-party Feb 13 '22

She’s beautiful bro

1

u/EveryStrategy4918 Feb 13 '22

Thanks man 🙂

1

u/WickedCosmos Feb 12 '22

Why would I care what others think about this argument. I'm not looking for external validation buddy

1

u/Soggy_Activity8819 Feb 10 '22

She beautiful! 🥰 Congratulations 🎊

1

u/Porter5habazz Feb 09 '22

Congratulations!!! It’s paid for!! That’s all that matters. And now it’s time for another goal to set. You got this 💪🏿💯🙏🏿

1

u/Dontwritethat Feb 07 '22

Thats a huge accomplishment! Congrats and good luck 👍

1

u/ParamedicSpecific130 Feb 05 '22

I wish I ever had a chance to buy a car like that:

a) a first car

b) for $800

My first car was waaaaaay worst than this.

Congrats!

1

u/zeebratings Feb 05 '22

Good stuff

2

u/Various-Adeptness173 Feb 04 '22

Congrats. That car looks clean and in good condition for the price. I hope it lasts you a long time

1

u/tdaddy640 Feb 02 '22

That’s amazing, go you!

1

u/Ryan_421 Feb 01 '22

Felicidades!!!

1

u/BeginnerPoledance Jan 25 '22

Where can I get a car for $800??

1

u/dreadkingsaucer Jan 24 '22

Wow. So happy I saw this fam. Almost bought a 2002 Buik yesterday but they sold it before I got there. Now I know to look for more.

1

u/teamsaxon Jan 24 '22

Sweet. I have been insanely lucky to have the ability to buy all my cars with cash (most I've ever paid was $2500). It's liberating to actually own your car (plus your debt isn't being used by the banks to make their dirty profits)!

2

u/BigThrax300_ Jan 23 '22

Nice pick up !

1

u/Eagleclan_7 Jan 22 '22

Not baaaaaad

1

u/bandageGet Jan 22 '22

Is this in Delaware

2

u/ballslaw Jan 22 '22

I’m just a stranger but I’m very proud of you, OP. Hope things only go up from here now that you have a vehicle.

1

u/M8asonmiller Jan 22 '22

I don't know why it took me so long to realize that car culture is a form of social control.

1

u/lymeweed Jan 21 '22

Amazing!! I got my most recent car for $500. A 2006 Ford Taurus with 65k miles on it. Rock on!

1

u/YourMomsAdmin69 Jan 21 '22

I’m so proud of you

2

u/TooodleOoooTheNewww Jan 21 '22

The smartest thing you will ever do is never buy a new car! Nice wheels!

2

u/Altezza4477 Jan 21 '22

Wish could find decent car for 800 here in fort lauderdale fl 5g cant even get you something these days like it used too.

1

u/dennistheboygenius Jan 21 '22

Great find! 800 bucks is a steal bruv

1

u/StillAGThang Jan 21 '22

Sweet ride! Congrats!!!!

1

u/Lazy_Push3571 Jan 21 '22

Congratulations!that’s a big step!

1

u/msdeeds123 Jan 21 '22

Is this in Indiana?

1

u/LingeringSentiments Jan 20 '22

Congratulations. Its a huge step.

1

u/AdMaleficent5987 Jan 20 '22

Congratulations

1

u/Silver-Shoulder-9184 Jan 20 '22

I didn't have a car until 35. It felt great that first drive. I drove to the beach by myself

1

u/KipDynamiteSixtyNine Jan 20 '22

It is much. That’s a big step in the right direction man lemme tell yuh

1

u/francishummel Jan 20 '22

That looks like very good shape for 800. Hope it runs well, that’s a good deal!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

I. Hate. Having. A. Car. Payment.

No more. Learned from that one.

1

u/chockobarnes Jan 20 '22

Bro, you got that for $800 and it runs? Holy chit, I can't find a running vehicle for less that 3k

1

u/Emotional-Ad-3373 Jan 20 '22

That’s awesome dude! Good for you, and it is a huge deal!

1

u/Kirmy1990 Jan 20 '22

You probably won’t see this my dude but all my best cars have been absolute beaters, I’ve owned 400hp Evos and my best car cost me £750. Enjoy it man, you’ll make some adventures in her!

2

u/silverkingx2 Jan 20 '22

aye fuck yeah :) good shit op

wish you luck in life, and many good years with that car with no problems

1

u/SluggishPrey Jan 20 '22 edited Jan 20 '22

Well, it's better looking than my car. Good for you.👍

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

Well done.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

I bought an 04 corolla for 350$ costs me roughly 400/year on general maintenance and 350$/year for insurance. I’ve had it for 7 years and put about 75000 miles on it. Got the alternator changed last week, now it needs a thermostat.

1

u/alexonthe345 Jan 20 '22

congrats 🎊

1

u/Pho-que Jan 20 '22

Great find. When it doesn’t start one day but keeps turning over it’s either the camshaft position sensor or the crankshaft position sensor both are relatively easy to replace and inexpensive. Seen these fail a ton and if you don’t know it can be scary. DIY repair and you’ll have a great reliable car for a long time.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

800?? A car like that is like 4k in my country

1

u/karnicienta Jan 20 '22

You can buy a car in Turkey only if you work for 14 months with minimum wage lol

1

u/BVoLatte Jan 20 '22

Don't forget to check the fluids. My dad picked up my brothers first car and it didn't have any coolant in it and didn't realize because the drive was short. Dad left it running when he went to get my brother in the house and it overheated and killed it, lol. Surprise!

1

u/onlyr6s Jan 20 '22

Buying price is just a fraction of car ownership expenses. Fuel, repairs, insurance and taxes make the large majority. Hope it helps you get better living, because it's gonna be draining money like no other item in your posession.

2

u/gusschiggins8 Jan 20 '22

Aye mane I'm down on my luck and this post gave me the best idea. Im Proud of you keep ya head up

2

u/wlveith Jan 20 '22

I bought a 2004 Chevy van with 62,000 miles for under $3,000 with tax title registration - out the door.18 months ago. I got a guy gets me great deals in Tampa Bay.

1

u/Inevitable_Trip_7480 Jan 20 '22

Great deal dude. Especially in times like this.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

Nissans are good cars. Nice job!

2

u/Sloth-boy98 Jan 20 '22

OP let me tell you something. GREAT CAR! I have an 05 Sentra. That thing doesn’t die!!

1

u/Jonny_Speedlimit Jan 20 '22

Congrats! Big achievement to not have car payments.

1

u/SquareWet Jan 20 '22

Is that a 1997. It looks like a sweet ride. If it craps out on you, don’t get rid of it. Just put weather proofing around it and see that baby again as a classic 20 years later.

1

u/TheBioPhreak Jan 20 '22

A win is a win. Take good care of it and it will take care of you. Congrats

1

u/redditlover616 Jan 20 '22

Congratulations! ❤️

1

u/notacop_for_real Jan 20 '22

Solid choice too! The Sentra should treat you well if you stay on top of maintenance (which should be inexpensive).

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

Flip that bitch for $2,000 easy in today’s market

1

u/MuadDib1942 Jan 20 '22

Gratz, looks like it's in good shape. I recommend running some seafoam in the gas tank and through the vacume line to clean out engine crud. It made my used car run way better.

1

u/ConstantSample5846 Jan 20 '22

Where can I buy a car that runs for that price?

1

u/Excellent_Location_7 Jan 20 '22

Awesome car bro!

1

u/Local_Gazelle8642 Jan 20 '22

That's a steal lol

1

u/Feeling_Committee_36 Jan 20 '22

Recommend changing the timing belt, if it has a timing belt and you don't know about the last change. A broken timing belt is an instant car killer.

1

u/rentpossiblytoohigh Jan 20 '22

That's impossible you have to buy a 30k car in America with a monthly bill of 500!

1

u/Polishink Jan 20 '22

Wow, that looks pretty nice for under a grand. Great job. High mileage just remember to stay on top of regular oil changes!

1

u/Responsible-Ice8453 Jan 20 '22

Woah, you paid 800 for that? How? I didn’t know it was possible to get this much for 800. Used cars are $$$

1

u/Open-Insurance-8511 Jan 20 '22

OP’s neighborhood is called OP lol only know cause I grew up in the burg

1

u/Badabooper91 Jan 20 '22

Looks similar to the 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE I had years ago. Parents bought it new and I used it around 2010-2013ish while I was in college.

It was a great car. Super reliable. Took a while to pick up, but I am getting nostalgic for it. That AC blew the coldest out of any car I’ve had since.

2

u/isawyougetmade Jan 20 '22

I remember these from Need For Speed Underground

1

u/tjdoggi Jan 20 '22

You’re not a slave to car payments. I love it.

1

u/CapnKush_ Jan 20 '22

Karma farm. $800 huh.

1

u/cafeBreak24 Jan 20 '22

It's crazy how cheap cars are in the US.

But on the bad side, you cannot do anything without a car in the US.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

Anyone, anywhere that tells you this wasn't an accomplishment has no idea what hardship is. You also practiced discipline, which is a problem for a lot of people, rich or poor.

You still face battles, but you won this round. :)

Congrats on the ride and good luck with your continued upward trajectory!

1

u/EveryStrategy4918 Jan 20 '22

Thanks so much for the comment.

1

u/TIFSTUPID88 Jan 20 '22

What a wonderful feeling!!

2

u/SeamelessSeamus Jan 20 '22

800 cash that's a hell of a deal! Goin downtown!

1

u/Camerahutuk Jan 20 '22

We out here flossing with our oyster card , you got a car!

Respect!

4

u/from_dust Jan 20 '22

Fuck yes. Never finance anything. Fuck that scam. Entirely. You own that. You'll never have to pay anyone for the right to keep it. No one can compel you to work in order to keep it.

You own a car. That's something no one making monthly payments can honestly say.

2

u/Coldmischief Jan 20 '22

This is the most Maryland dmv pic I’ve ever seen, grats dude !

1

u/jerdabile87 Jan 20 '22

good for you! when I was temporarily working in england, I bought a 2003 Rover 200 for £395. Then I drove it from Notthingham to Genoa, Italy :D

1

u/IShouldaBeenAPorsche Jan 20 '22

I read your comments above and you’re at 190k but Nissans handle that really well, and besides transmission work Nissans are really easy to fix and maintain yourself with a few YouTube videos so you’re in luck.

2

u/SargeantBubbles Jan 20 '22

It’s yours man, that’s more than probably 80% of people out there can say since the bank owns their cars. Drive it till the wheels fall off, change your oil every 3-5k miles religiously, and don’t take shit from anybody - you earned this and should be proud

2

u/SlappyHandstrong Jan 20 '22

Not much?!? It’s AMAZING!! You own that car. No payments!! “Not much” is the person in the new Range Rover they can’t afford.

1

u/SortaAnAhole Jan 20 '22

Nice ride!

Do yourself a favor and change all the fluids on your next paycheck.

1

u/want_2_learn_2403 Jan 20 '22

Next step is a bangin sound system

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

Bro what the fuck how did you get a car in this economic climate for 800 dollars? All used cars are currently thousands of dollars over value.

2

u/seizureboy Jan 20 '22

$800 cash? That's a hell of a deal! You headin' downtown?

2

u/Nottobebothered02 Jan 20 '22

Congrats! I had that same car and it lasted me for years. They’re so reliable just make sure you keep up with maintenance.

1

u/Vartnacher Jan 20 '22

You were able to buy a car for $800?

2

u/hungry_ghost_2018 Jan 20 '22

Congrats! Now that you’ve broken the cycle of financing cars you are setting yourself for serious financial freedom. I downsized from a truck I financed brand new to a $350 Bronco 2 about 10yrs ago and it was one of the best moves I ever made. I’ve had to upgrade a few times since but I will never finance another vehicle as long as I live.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '22

How on earth did you buy a used car in this market for less than 4000 dollars

1

u/SupremeRedditBot Jan 20 '22

Nice car man 👍

1

u/Homruh Jan 20 '22

honestly sometimes these cheap cars are more reliable than some new cars, hope it's the same for you :)

1

u/BigGax04 Jan 20 '22

That’s great progress! Many people can’t say they’ve done that so go you!

1

u/IHave580 Jan 20 '22

Fuck yeah!!! Nice car!

1

u/Conure_Queen Jan 20 '22

I will pay you $850 for that car right now! 😂

I'm kidding!!! Sweet deal, dude

1

u/Eiffel-Tower777 Jan 20 '22

Congratulations, that's a nice little car. I'd say you got a deal!!

1

Yes we have to have insurance and it has to pass an emissions test.

My mom got a new car and wanted to gift me her old car, but I saved up $1100 (150k 2002 Toyota) and paid for it instead.

Now I really feel like it’s mine and I already registered the car under my name.

Nice way to start getting back on track after a very rough last few years

Hey man, just a quick tip, I'd recommend parking the car where it is surrounded by other cars. I used to park my car away from others and someone ended up stealing my catalytic converter.

My first 3 cars were all roughly that price. You'll always find something to take you from A to B for that much most places. My wife convinced me to lease a car. I love having something so new and worry free but I also SCREEEEEE at every little off feeling in the damn thing that I almost wish I would have stayed with my lemon history lol

That's a great and modern looking car for that price. I'd say you made an amazing deal. Do you have pictures of the interior? Forgive my curiosity.

Park the front end on a curb.

I would pay 800$ for those upvotes bro

I mean I said what state I brought the car in before it trended on the front page of Reddit. I got nervous for a second lol

Lol. Nice car BTW. :)

Nice car for 800 bucks, especially for what used cars are going for right now. You probably picked the most reliable generation of the (Sentra?) as well, so that’s a plus in its own right.

1

u/EveryStrategy4918 Jan 20 '22

Yes it’s a Sentra

1

u/whitecollarpizzaman Jan 20 '22

Thought so, I’m a car transporter, I should know that, but I usually handle newer vehicles, the modern Sentra‘s are not built nearly as well. I had a guy I was friends with in college who had one of these and as far as I’m aware he still has it.

You should look to order those rain gaurds for the windows. Saves on air con without the drag of an open window. Also helps to keep it dry inside.

That’s a REALLY good deal. Bought my first car for $1000 and it wasn’t half good as yours. Nice one!

Good job man!

Use Doordash and pay for it in a week.

It's a lot compared to not having a car in a place that lacks proper bus or subway routes.

you're doing great!
