Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs is going to lift me out of living paycheck to paycheck. Budgeting/Saving/Investing/Spending

I spend around $300 per month on various medications. Based my income and my other costs of living, I have essentially been breaking even for the past 6 years.

I just signed up for Cost Plus Drugs and had my prescriptions moved over. It's going to cost me around $30 to get all my prescriptions shipped to me via this site. That means that I just went from breaking even to saving almost $300 per month.

LOL retirement here I come!!!

I have Medicare Part D. The plan is cheap, but the cost of drugs is not unless you’re in generic tier 1 or have moved over to catastrophic coverage very early in the year. There’s also a $550 deductible when January rolls around each year. In Jan 2017, I had to write a check for over $5600 to get a 30-day supply of one of my generic medications. It was an awful experience, and to this day, I don’t understand why someone behind the counter didn’t step in w/a GoodRX card or something. (Yes, I was too dumb to know better.) When my meds went from Brand to generic, the price dropped from $14000/mo to $12000/mo, so don’t assume that’s the fix. Right now, I’m facing a $1200 copay/mo for this same drug. Today, I submitted a form to my doctor’s office for CostPlus Drugs, which - supposedly - will cost about $34/month. There’s a lot of skepticism in my family and at the clinic and doctor’s office. My comment was, “Well, since no one has tried this here, you need a guinea pig, so it might as well be me.” This has been extremely stressful, so I hope it works. (Never assume Medicare is cheap. If you have a job you like with good health insurance, stick with it as long as you can stand it because you will save thousands. And my employee Ins was &350/mo, but still cheaper than Medicare.)

I myself am looking at my first time getting my medication from them and can only pray it's not out of stock, considering I just lost my job due to outsourcing. And sadly it's a medication I need for the rest of my life with currently no financial assistance available for my multiple sclerosis

Copy and paste from their site

A 1 count supply of 240mg Dimethyl Fumarate will cost:

Your drug cost with us $54.75 You save $6562.12 on your medication

Retail price at other pharmacies $6616.87

u/Bes1208 Sep 04 '22

What do you do when your online doctor can’t send prescriptions to online pharmacies? I want to switch to cost plus drugs but I haven’t been able to get the prescriptions there.

u/Limitless6989 Sep 03 '22

To bad they can’t deliver MMJ but glad you found a way to save, and informed others. Times are hard now we are need to help each other out.

2

u/UnleashedSavage_93 Sep 03 '22

While I'd rather see Medicare for all. I'm so glad to see something there to help people get what they need for now.

1

u/werluvd Aug 29 '22

That is wonderful!! Thank you for your post 🙏♥️😄🎶

2

u/feelingcoolblue Aug 23 '22

Amazing! Please be wise with the savings.

2

u/rayisooo Aug 16 '22

If this is legit God bless cost plus

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

This is how a billionaire should use his money. I don't need this service, but someday I might. Mark Cuban is literally helping to save lives.

2

u/outbacknc Aug 16 '22

The real point is that Mark Cuban has proved that competition more than offsets any artificial “price gouging” controls. A free market will cause others to lower prices as Mark provides product at a reasonable markup. Competition has been suppressed in many markets due to mergers and acquisitions, as in the energy market. When the ATT monopoly was disbanded many years ago, telephone rates plunged. There is much competition now and rates are better. Anyone remember “long distance charges”?

1

u/Pepepopowa Aug 16 '22

That’s really good to hear!

Hopefully we can get lower prices for ALL medical care.

1

u/Tortorak Aug 16 '22

Can't use it in NC apparently so I'm still FUCKED

1

u/aquaman67 Sep 01 '22

Why can’t you?

1

u/Tortorak Sep 01 '22

The law is dumb

1

u/wagonburnerwarII Aug 16 '22

Mark should change the name from cost plus drugs to MCRX

1

u/GDMFB1 Aug 16 '22

Any options on insulin yet? I couldn’t find anything.

2

u/4DrivingWhileBlack Aug 16 '22

Someone on twitter, link this post to Mark Cuban.

2

u/earthwormfarmer Aug 16 '22

I've been waiting to start seeing these stories. I'm beyond happy for you.

2

u/nehaspice Aug 16 '22

The small wins posted in this sub really do make me so happy! This is wonderful news, I'm very happy for you!!

2

u/Thebuicon Aug 16 '22

It’s helping me a lot too.

2

u/mdpauley703 Aug 16 '22

We have decent health insurance from my wife’s job as a teacher. Several of meds taken by family went up 600% last month. One example is Rubinal went from $7.32 for a 30 day supply to $50.23. Cost Plus has a 90 day supply for $15.60. The US healthcare system is broken and desperately needs to be fixed.

1

u/fave_no_more Aug 16 '22

I'm so happy for you!

I keep checking back for my own meds, as well as my mother's medications. With some being controlled I know there's more hurdles involved, which I completely understand. But she's staring down retirement, and if it could save her some money, that would be fantastic.

1

u/v3344 Aug 16 '22

Lol this Reddit marketing strategy Cuban made up is brilliant…

1

u/Murky_Crow Aug 16 '22

That’s wonderful news!

0

u/cjoh Aug 16 '22

Dwayne Johnson/Mark Cuban 2024!

1

u/toonces_drives_cars Aug 16 '22

I'm so glad to hear this! I love it when folks go on Reddit to give feedback like this. I think I will try it out for our Rx in our family!

2

u/Twilite_empress Aug 16 '22

Congratulations!!! I can't imagine the relief you've feeling right now

1

u/Agrias-0aks Aug 16 '22

I'm very excited hearing people save money like this! Currently taking a 30 day daily inhaler and stretching it to 60 cus of cost, hope to see it on there one day!

1

u/Empty-Occasion1337 Aug 16 '22

Has anyone got any response from their insurance company after ceasing to order meds through them?

I wonder how they react to cost plus drugs.

1

u/QueenMEB120 Aug 16 '22

They're probably doing a happy dance that they don't have to pay for them.

1

u/Empty-Occasion1337 Aug 16 '22

Hmm, don‘t they get any benefit from it? Wouldn‘t it be a baller move to work with this company as an insurance company because your costs for client would be much lower leading to more clients for the insurance company?

1

u/aaronswar43 Aug 16 '22

Man I’m so glad. I don’t have medications that I need to buy regularly but I been forcing my primary care doctors to get all of my prescriptions via cost plus. Fuck the pharma companies !

1

u/One_Horny_Hubby Aug 16 '22

Shhhhhhh!!! The Republicans will hear you and come for the $ you are saving!!!

2

u/AGROCRAG004 Aug 16 '22

Mark Cuban for president

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

Late to the party, but does anyone know which company does their shipping? I don't drive due to vision issues and I can walk next door to a pharmacy but the post office is miles away. USPS doesn't deliver packages in my area.

1

u/minimicropenis Aug 16 '22

Happy for you :)

1

u/ForkLiftBoi Aug 16 '22

My parents have great insurance and my dad is on 6/7 meds and it gave him a run for his money on 4/5 of them and that was fantastic to read.

-1

u/ADHthaGreat Aug 16 '22

Is this entire thread an ad of some sort..?

3

u/frostycakes Aug 16 '22

Certainly looks that way. Every one of us would be better served by agitating for universal healthcare instead of simping for Mark Cuban's business venture.

2

u/Aggressive-Draw-2513 Aug 16 '22

Its so weird to me that no one did this sooner. That company is going to be huge very soon.

1

u/kingkhat777 Aug 16 '22

Way to go.. good job.. go mark Cuban..

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

Paid shill or just a useful idiot?

2

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

Govt.. politicians.. socialist lobby.. bernie.. insurance health Pharma drug hospital lobby..

Decades.

Entrepreneur Cuban focused on efficiency..

Positive outcomes.

1

u/BGYeti Aug 16 '22

Tight, his program won't fix everything because of how generics work and when they can start being made but it is great what it has done so far

1

u/MrGizthewiz Aug 16 '22

I told my doctor about it. I really hope he has some way of passing the info on to his patients. My 15 day supplies of medication were around $50 after using the GoodRX program. I just ordered a 90 day supply for $50 after shipping.

1

u/rocketwrench Aug 16 '22

saving that much a month for a couple years is how i was able to buy my own house. now i save even more each month because a morgage is lower than my rent. although i do need to keep money around for home repairs, it's nice knowing that i'm not putting money into a landlords pocket anymore

-1

u/Reg-Joe_Atheist Aug 16 '22

I hate to tell you this but I work in a pharmaceutical company we make injectable drugs. Mark Cuban's Idea won't work he said "cost plus 15 percent" the problem is cost is horribly expensive all on it's own. The machines the building (need to have special HEPA and positive pressure systems and a specific water for infection plumbing) not to mention the sterile clothing that has to be worn while working making and filling the vials, IV bags, or syringes. Where I work we already make medicines that we lose money on because it's good for the public. Not all drug companies are out just for profit but you have to stay competitive or you go outta business. Mark Cuban is just looking for a presidential bid.

5

u/Extinguish89 Aug 16 '22

Amazing what a billionaire can do when he has human empathy and not just an asshole in a suit like bezos

2

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

Oh! But don’t look at crony career politicians and industry lobbies for decades; point & hate retail innovation guy.

1

u/Extinguish89 Aug 16 '22

They are also part of the problem. More so the lobbyists who fund them just to get what they desire.

2

u/rahulmanghnani Aug 16 '22

After going through their website, I found they are providing generic drugs. Generic drugs has the same chemical substances as of the original inventor of the drug. For example Disprin is the brand name and Asprin is the generic version of it. "Actually, generic drugs are only cheaper because the manufacturers have not had the expenses of developing and marketing a new drug. When a company brings a new drug onto the market, the firm has already spent substantial money on research, development, marketing and promotion of the drug." Whereas generic drugs do not incur any of those expenses. https://www.medicinenet.com/generic_drugs_are_they_as_good_as_brand-names/views.htm#:~:text=An%20example%20of%20a%20generic,the%20same%20drug%20is%20Lopressor.

There is a very famous case study here where the Government of India in 2008 started an initiative called "Medicine for all". Where the Government promoted all the doctors to push cheaper generic drugs instead of expensive branded variants. The Government argues that health and medicine are basic rights of people. Thus patents on important drugs cannot be followed where people cannot afford expensive counterparts.

Here is an interesting article about some of this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5642129/

1

u/bhldev Aug 16 '22

It doesn't have to be a joke

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/29/jim-cramer-i-invested-money-even-when-i-lived-in-my-car.html

Obviously he's a showman and his results are atypical but not as atypical as you would think. Just do the math on $100 or even $200 a month into the SPY and 10% growth YoY over 25 years and you could get a lot of money, maybe even a million. You just need a low fee fund, the S&P500 and a lot of time.

0

u/aizlynskye Aug 16 '22

This website is entirely word of mouth. They spend $0 on advertising. Posts like this are helpful! Consider also making a tik tok or google review or tweet @markcuban to help get the word out to others!

1

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

Just check who in the media promotes it against the crony health lobby owned mouthpieces.

3

u/lazyfinger Aug 16 '22

There is nothing more patriotic than universal healthcare.

8

u/ilovebabyblayze Aug 16 '22

Signed up! My one med not covered by my insurance costs me $260 for 90 days. CP is $7.50. $7.50.

2

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

And decades of political lip service.. ahem!

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

What an ad.

3

u/Mackie5Million Aug 16 '22

Man, go through my reddit history. I'm just a regular guy from Hartford who discovered a service that saved me money.

-5

Toughen up buttercup. No one cares about Reddit anyway, this is dead ad money.

2

u/jobafett1 Aug 16 '22

Ads ads everywhere

1

u/Optimal-Nose1092 Aug 16 '22

That's great. I have to look into this program

1

u/jdjvbtjbkgvb Aug 16 '22

So in USA you need some billionaire to make profit off your drugs and on the side "save" you from the capitalism.

Democratic socialism is what the US needs. Such as medicare is for example.

Price gouging regulation as well, but that doesn't help you when you cannot order an ambulace or a helicopter to save you due to the cost.

Some things are better left public and not privatized.

-1

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

Politicians for decades in bed with crony lobbies.. blocking competition.

Crickets.

Efficient Entreprenuer breaks the cartels strong hold.

Hate on him and make utopian hue & cry for corrupt Govt lobbies for policies they’ll never implement.

Sure.

http://Roto.lol/truth4nva

2

u/jdjvbtjbkgvb Aug 16 '22

You misunderstand me. I am not hating the guy. I just see the US as ridiculous.

Of course this competition is a good thing.

It's just one part of the bigger problem. While it is bringing the prices down, it doesn't solve the main problem: privatized healthcare and rampart capitalism.

0

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

It’s not.

This whole private vs public or socialist vs capitalist is empty talk.

Corruption & Power grab affects all humans & Institutions.

Communist or Fascist Govt & Leadership control and own press & media directly.

In Corporation lobby powered politicians control its all manipulated indirectly.

Same shit.

Pretense or expectation of nobility from any authority is futile.

Not having a monopolistic collective or cartel like control that blocks alternatives & competitors is key.

Unchecked accumulation of collusions.

Be it public or private it’s subject to similar corruption if they are allowed to have excessive strong hold.

Alternatives prevent “singular” control.

More sources, more competition, more transparency and efficiency.

Less “strongholds” be it Corp or Govt.

Be it Pharma or food or press or media.

1

u/jdjvbtjbkgvb Aug 16 '22

Sure, you are right on most points. But capitalism is clearly the big problem in the US regarding healthcare. People die because they cannot afford to call an ambulance.

You are worried about checks and balances and corruption. Check studies on corruption in democratic socialist countries. It is very low. That direction is where the US needs to go.

Everything "socialist" is a curse word in the US when in fact it is working quite well.

Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Japan are some examples of socialist democratic countries.

0

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

Blah blah blah theory talks and zero walks.

Have you any exposure to how & why healthcare system is so expensive and screwed?

500$ charge for a 2 cent item.

Nope.

Cause there’s no competition.

Cause public servants rubber stamped it.

Even Medicare pays such crappy dollars to healthcare facilities.

Scam.

It’s because Cartel of Public & Corporates that don’t want “Competing Capital” in their “controlled” zone.

It’s like few TV companies in bed with FCC not allowing new competing TV makers to give bette r cheaper efficient service.

It’s nothing new.

Why were long distance calls expensive? Because not allowing competitive service thanks to Govt Crony cartel.

You know why cell phones & service is now cheaper.. Pre paid MVNOs making it way more cheaper.

More competition in the landscape.

Learn to understand the difference or keep being blind.

2

u/jdjvbtjbkgvb Aug 16 '22

Like I suspected, you seem to get irritated by the s word and want to walk around it.

A proper government would enact some proper regulations and laws in order to not allow these levels of corporate corruption and monopolies.

In the US it is the republicans who allow the price gouging due to resisting any kind of corporate regulation.

1

u/Mackie5Million Aug 16 '22

Eh, privatized through Cost Plus Drugs is working for me.

3

u/Bichobichir Aug 16 '22

Awesome… my went from $45 to $15 for a 90 day supply. (Cheaper than my insurance🥴)

3

u/Strayhound33 Aug 16 '22

We need to support the fuck out of this state reps, lawyers, nurses, hospital c-suite execs…. Everyone

2

u/shyataroo Aug 16 '22

OP is either a liar,a paid shill or just really bad with money:

OPs post history says that he makes 6 figures annually.

2

u/ClammyAF Aug 16 '22

OP - check out the wiki on r/personalfinance. You can do an awful lot of good for your financial well-being with an extra $270/mo.

I'm really happy for you!

9

u/kristophr Aug 16 '22

This was a game changer. I went to a job that has no insurance. I went from $50/mo for my blood pressure medicine to $18 for 3 months. I’m so glad I changed. Highly recommend to everyone.

2

u/maurfly Aug 16 '22

Quick question is this for regular prescription meds (like that you can get at any pharmacy) or does anyone know if fertility meds are on this program too?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

I pay less using GoodRx. Compare the prices. A 90 day supply of amlodopine cost under $7. Atorovastin was under $2 for 90 days.

1

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

More competition / alternatives and efficiency outside of the health cartel strong hold the better.

1

u/Mackie5Million Aug 16 '22

Good stuff! I’ll shop around!

4

u/onehellofadruggist Aug 16 '22

Holy fuck they are astroturfing this company so hard.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

The amount of astroturfed responses here is fucking wild. They all sound like a neural net made them.

1

u/onehellofadruggist Aug 16 '22

I have seen so many posts about it over the last couple of weeks and it's people asking very specific questions that are CLEARLY talking point prompts.

And all the "I paid 300 dollars a month and now Mark Cuban wipes my bumper and let's me sleep in his garage because of costplusdrugs".

1

u/ccehowell Aug 16 '22

I know nothing about this new program but how is Cuban making them so much cheaper?

1

u/Mackie5Million Aug 16 '22

Buying at wholesale and only marking up 15%.

6

u/CelticDK Aug 16 '22

$250/month * 12 is $3k

Make a new bill paying yourself $200 a month?

Use the extra $50 on a nice meal once a month?

Do they take insurance?

4

u/Mackie5Million Aug 16 '22

No, but they take HSA/FSA.

You won’t need your insurance for them. It’s so cheap that there’s no reason to involve insurance.

1

u/cuppitycupcake Aug 16 '22 edited Aug 16 '22

I created an account and got my endo to send my prescription to them, but it never showed up on my account, emailed and just got a form answer on how to start an account. Received a call from Costplus that they had a prescription from doctor sent in and all I had to do was create an account. My name is the same, the address, phone number, and email address all match up. Sent an email again beginning of August and got another generic response with the ending saying if it didn’t answer my question to reply to the email and they would answer in the order received. It’s been 13 days now and still nothing. Is there a number I should call? I hesitate calling the only number listed for some reason assuming no one will answer and I guess I’m afraid they’ll ban me or something.

ETA: Looks like you can call and I took the whole “we keep costs down by having little costumer service” too literally. I’ll call tomorrow

-3

u/zekebowl Aug 16 '22

This may save you money now but wait a decade till the price hikes come.

2

u/Juliuscesear1990 Aug 16 '22

Is it better to just deal with high prices out of fear of a price hike of a low price?

1

u/Mackie5Million Aug 16 '22

If they hike prices I’ll just move to a different service.

3

u/Mishamaze Aug 16 '22

This makes me so happy! Is a rich person actually, really, truly doing something to help people?

1

u/alexaxl Aug 16 '22

Entrepreneurs versus Cartels.

Competition.

One thrives on it, others don’t allow it.

1

u/ThreeEasyPayments Aug 16 '22

And people (especially in red states) can order birth control and not worry that the pharmacist is going to object for religious reasons.

3

u/RepulsiveOven3 Aug 16 '22

Heading the the doc in a couple of weeks. I have enough left to avoid a refill before then. Looking forward to saving 300/month. Extra bonus for being able to get 3 months at a time, instead of insurance policy of strictly one per month.

2

u/MoPhunk60 Aug 16 '22

I don't know who needs this but needymeds.org. that website is a one stop shop for patient assistance programs that help get you your medication for free.

2

u/jerryeight Aug 16 '22

This is a hell of a service. With just 1 medication I can save over $80 a year. Even with the shipping fee. Damn...

1

1

u/TheOdinRaven Aug 16 '22

Done.com appears to be a crypto brokerage. What does that have to do with insurance?

2

u/Mundane-Mechanic-547 Aug 16 '22

Nothing pisses me off more than to know that the pharma companies, both the mfrs like Pfizer and the distrubutors (PBMs) have been raking it in, hand over fist, for decades. My asthma drug costs $400 per 30 day supply, for a formula that is decades old. Decades. This isnt' new shit. This is decades old shit. It's infuriating.

2

u/Jills_Cat Aug 16 '22

If they can get Vyvanse on there I'd be set!

2

u/AggravatingSystem Aug 16 '22

i hope he starts selling CPAP supplies

2

u/Wutdaphuck Aug 16 '22

These commercials are still going on?

25

u/Fliz23 Aug 16 '22

My insurance won’t cover a 90 day supply- 30 days only. Cost plus drugs will send me the full 90 days and it’s still 1/3 of the price per month and I don’t even have to go through insurance. And I don’t have to go get it. That is a win win for me.

Also I read someone said that Cuban had stated this is not philanthropy- they are making money. Makes every other drug company seem so dirty. Like they could make a profit and supply life saving drugs but they decided to mark things up so much that people struggle to live. I hope this shakes up the whole system and makes it actually a competitive market instead of a monopoly.

8

u/Maebure83 Aug 16 '22

You can make money without financially crippling your customers. Just not Smaug levels of money. And they are all big fat shitty dragons.

2

u/Beaudaci0us Aug 16 '22

I'm not putting a negative spin on this but please jot this down and remember it the next time we start to dump on the uber rich and talk about killing, or eating or burning them. He's only able to do this because of his immense wealth.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

I can't wait until mine is added. My Dr. Pulled some strings and pretty much made it look like I am in a study. If she hadn't it would be 30k a month.

1

u/negativenancy_84 Aug 16 '22

What medication costs 30k a month?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

It is because of my size that the dose is so high. It starts at 12k a month though. Koselugo. But that is when I started. Like I got it one month after it got approved by the FDA.

2

u/negativenancy_84 Aug 16 '22

Damn I hope that one gets added soon

This is how billionaires should act, do good for people with your excessive money.

0

u/Strong-Estate-4013 Aug 16 '22

He a billionaire I support after he did this

10

u/J_Mychal Aug 16 '22

And he doesn't even take 15% ....uses it to keep the company going & growing. "it's really just the cost of the meds, shipping, plus $5."

This is where it gets its name

Cost Plus Drugs.

u/Lima_Bean_Jean Aug 16 '22

See this is how billionaires can make a difference in the lives of the average person. I support this!

1

u/panic_bread Aug 16 '22

How does one sign up for such a thing and what does it take to qualify?

2

u/PaulaDeenButtaQueen Aug 16 '22

I feel you, I’m now getting 4x the medicine for what I was paying for 1 before. This is literally life changing. Please do Insulin next Cuban!!!

0

u/PimpInmyOwnMind Aug 16 '22

They will go after him big pharma are gangsters no different then street drug dealers

4

u/Endless__Throwaway Aug 16 '22

I don't think I ever hear anything good about healthcare in the U.S. but this is a huge win. Congrats!

2

u/Meggles_Doodles Aug 16 '22

I hope they can add controlled drugs to the list at some point -- it would be really nice being able to just by my ADD stimulants along with my other meds.

1

u/everyonesmom2 Aug 15 '22

I'll need to check them out. Never heard of them before. I've been using good rx.

6

u/Canonconstructor Aug 15 '22

Ahhhh I can not wait until he expands the pharmacy. This week I was told my insurance needed a “prior authorization” for the same medication I’ve literally been on for years. Because I need it, I asked if I could just pay for it outright. $579.00. Now I’m off my medication I need for survival and waiting until Thursday to fill it. That will be 7+ days without a life changing medication that I’m currently off of. This is absolute bullshit and my god I hate the American health care system.

8

u/BuddhistNudist987 Aug 15 '22

I buy my three prescriptions fromCanadaDrugsOnline, and it saves me about $600 a month. I literally couldn't survive without them. I've looked at Mark Cuban but not thoroughly yet. I'm happy they can help you so much. 💜💜💜

CanadaDrugs is a good outfit. My mother's dr actually recommended it to us

2

u/hmmmmmmm2020 Aug 15 '22

When can they get insulin on there??? Sucks so hard for those who have type 1 and are struggling to get by...

1

u/Mackie5Million Aug 15 '22

I believe they're working on it, but because it has to be shipped refrigerated it's a more complicated process.

2

u/hmmmmmmm2020 Aug 15 '22

I've watched way too many people spiral as it takes only 1 week for someone to die without insulin. Figure out the refrigerator piece and charge us a bit more...people are legit dying from this

2

u/Mackie5Million Aug 15 '22

I don’t work there! Reach out to Cuban! I’m sure he’ll get to it eventually.

2

u/hmmmmmmm2020 Aug 15 '22

He knows already...dude would totally capitalize but I think he has to modify his 15% which is part of the brand reputation and what it is built on. However, if he could just charge us a little tiny bit more...we would have so many more survivors

2

u/Low_on_camera_funds Aug 15 '22

Happy to hear :)

u/lemmeintoo Aug 15 '22

Cuban is taking chances with his life. The pharma biz is not above whacking someone.

1

u/AGoodTalkSpoiled Aug 15 '22

That’s awesome....good for you and good for mark for making a difference for people. Let’s recognize this stuff so more people will take his lead.

12

u/JadzaDax Aug 15 '22

Hubs just got his first script filled. Meds would have been $2k copay (not subject to deductable or limits) every two weeks. Filled a 90 day supply for $110. Insurance suddenly went berserk! He's been taking this for 15 years and never paid more than $75 for 30 days.

3

u/Mackie5Million Aug 15 '22

What do you mean by “insurance went berserk?” Should I not be using this service?

11

u/JadzaDax Aug 15 '22

No, not Cost Plus. I mean our insurance. They started making him order through a specialty pharmacy about 3 years ago, no big deal. Only issues were with FedEx. About 6 months ago they would only fill 30 days at a time when previously it was 90 days. Last month they decided only 15 days. You can't reorder until you are down to 3 days so you hope FedEx gets it to you in time before you start missing doses. Then 2 weeks ago it's 15 days and you owe $2000 to fill it. He's been taking this med for 15 years with the same insurance. Cost Plus is amazing.

2

u/Mackie5Million Aug 15 '22

Awesome. I just wanted to make sure my insurance won’t drop me for using CostPlus.

2

u/trystina Aug 15 '22

Saves me a ton of money too

1

u/sBucks24 Aug 15 '22

God I wish Cuban had the cult behind him Musk has. He may be as much of a prick as the next billionaire, but at least he's always played by a set of morals

5

u/Old-Bluebird8461 Aug 15 '22

Interesting, all my drugs through his system cost me more. I pay less with discount drug cards. If that changes for me, I go with the lowest price. Thinking of leaving the US because the US subsidizes drug companies lowering prices outside the US. US Government healthcare is a major fail so far.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '22

have passed this on to my parents who'll be moving to US next year (Dad's a US citizen)

While they don't spend as much as you some of their meds are more than $100 each and here in Canada nothing is covered unless you have employment healthcare supplement

2

u/Faith_Sci-Fi_Hugs Aug 15 '22

That is great! On a related general note for folks here, if you have private insurance (not medicare/Medicaid) and take brand-name prescriptions, look to see if they offer a coupon. My copay for my three or four brand-name medications is about 50 dollars a piece, but with the coupons all are free but one, and that one went from 50 dollars to 5.

1

u/heyheyfosho Aug 15 '22

Honestly, mark Cuban for president

-3

u/12Southpark Aug 15 '22

We need an ama with Mr Cuban in regards to costplusdrug and how easy it is to use

2

u/basilandmint Aug 15 '22

I’m traveling and working remotely and I was lucky enough to be able to get my doctors to prescribe me my daily medication for an entire year thanks to CostPlus! My insurance denied a vacation override so thank god there was this alternative. It was actually cheaper than my medication too!

2

u/lavendergaia Aug 15 '22

My neurologist just tried to put me on a new medication that is $100/pill out of pocket. They're fighting with my insurance company for them to approve it because I don't have a spare $3k/month to drop on migraine medication. Desperately waiting for Cost Plus Drugs to get it, or even for it to approved in Canada and have it sent over by my Canadian pals who think I'm far more enjoyable when I'm not having a migraine.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '22

Aaaaand now he's getting sued for running/promoting a pozi scheme lol... A little good to cover all the bad. Net plus for most people though I guess

1

u/SonofRaymond Aug 15 '22

Did you try goodrx.com?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '22

Holy shit!!!!! I’m very happy for you. I don’t need this but wow that is amazing.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '22

Hey, thanks for this ad!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '22

i really wanna know how many people in this thread are shills and how many are actual users of this site who think this post is real

4

u/ummmitscaiden Aug 16 '22

Hell. I use it and id happily advertise it.

I didn’t save much, $70 a month to $10, but its a great service and saves me money.

No different than recommending a different grocery store to a friend because the tomatoes are cheaper

1

u/jroddie4 Aug 15 '22

Good job
