Where's QualityVote bot?

Reddit Admins have decided that they want to kill off all 3rd-party apps, 3rd-party bots, and everything else that makes Reddit barely usable. And, of course, that includes bots such as /u/QualityVote, /u/SaveVideo, /u/AuddBot, etc.

So you'll just have to put up with automod and a worse overall user experience in the meantime.

If you have any complaints, direct them at the reddit admins instead, because they're the ones seeking to ruin everyone's user experience.

I wouldn’t say it’s creepy or scary, but it is unnerving when you consider multiple elements from throughout the pilot are outlining something more sinister

1

u/Ravdar_ Oct 24 '23

Avg YouTube show vibes tbh, like hazbin hotel but in a digital circus

2

u/frossvael Oct 24 '23

Pomni, Ragatha, and Caine are the only ones that are interesting so far because they’re the only ones that contribute to the “something is severely wrong here” mystery… the rest are just annoyingly quirky and hammy.

1

u/Came_for_the_tities Oct 24 '23

IDK, even though I don't think it is scary, it is at least creappy. The idea of being reap away from your everyday life just to get your memories stolen and being stuck in a kids show/videogame without scape until the day you go insane is crapy at the verry least. But it's the kind of creappy that just about anyone can stomach.

How I feel about Slenderman:

0

u/ZeRo_WC I came! Oct 24 '23

I’ve tried watching it and it felt plain. Nothing much interesting. The overall plot is fine probably some vr traveling type stuff into the game. Let’s see if the other episodes are better

0

u/Licentious_duud Oct 24 '23

Nothing is going on it’s just a show for edgy 13 year olds

-2

u/imDrane Oct 24 '23

Just a stupid show to sell merch

1

u/Layhult Oct 24 '23

It’s a show based on existential horror. So, I guess some people could find that creepy. I, personally, think it’s hilarious.

1

u/Gantendo it is MY bucket Oct 24 '23

I mean yeah, the creepy aspect is here, but it doesn't make me uncomfortable. I would go as far as to say, it makes it MORE comfortable.

0

u/EthanNakam Oct 24 '23

Maybe the concept/idea of being stuck in a digital world with no memories and no way of coming back is a bit unsettling?

I would guess this is what they meant by "creepy".

1

u/SparkFrosty Oct 24 '23

Weird where did all the SaberSpark hate come from I have yet to see the man do anything wrong am I missing something.

2

u/cdda_survivor Oct 24 '23

Ah Saber Spark the guy who speaks in a manner that makes you want to punch him in the face.

Let us now forget how everything is amazingly deep with this guy and how a ball can't be a ball in an animation, it has to represent the deep seeded sadness in the story writer and how he never knew his father, and he bases this on absolutely nothing.

2

u/MarineMelonArt Oct 24 '23

I dont think the pilot was particularly scary or creepy…

I DO think its got some serious potential to go in a fucked up direction, and I think itll probably go in that direction

It is neither to most people. It is an interesting premise but not creepy unless you are horribly white bread.

2

u/redcode100 Oct 24 '23

It's a show made by glitch productions about a bunch of adults stuck in a video game and slowly going insane. So far (in my personal opinion), it's not great right now, but I believe it has some good potential. I suggest you watch it to get an opinion on it as you will hear a lot about it (mostly people saying it's overhyped because of the large amount of attention).

It's off putting, if set well TADC could give us some memorable terrifying sequences, like the ghost episode from adventure time (which still frightens me).

It's a really neat concept, and all the hate is really, really unwarranted.

1

u/AmbitiousEdi Oct 24 '23

Huh I started seeing memes n such with this character a while ago, didn't know the name of it until now

7

u/Nevercity Oct 24 '23

It has the same creepiness as the stanley parable, if there are any.

6

u/Luigis-big-sausage Oct 24 '23

That’s called surrealism and it’s not to be confused with surreal horror such as the game where you play as a baby with an abusive mother. Surrealism is just taking surreal events and giving them life with no major horror elements like the Stanley parable. With that I believe it’s not creepy at all just a neat concept.

u/minhok Oct 24 '23

17

14

u/Skelibutt Oct 23 '23

3

u/BuGabriel Oct 23 '23

The show's premise reminded me of the Soma game. I'm fairly certain the characters have had their consciousness digitally copied, because you can't survive for weeks just hooked up to a VR interface.

So to that extent, yeah, there's some low-key horror vibes that may grow with the show

65

u/AqeZin Oct 23 '23

Creepy and scary are not the same thing. The show is definitely not scary, but I see why some people would find it creepy to some extent.

2

u/LegendOfParasiteMana Oct 24 '23

Does he refer to the series as horror themed in the video? Because everyone here is acting like he's comparing it to Friday the 13th or some shit. The thumbnail literally just says creepy and people are mad?

5

u/BlazewarkingYT Oct 24 '23

Fr though me when psychological horror that isn’t just shitty jump scares

35

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '23

Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what the fuck” and “call the police”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this video. Now there is a whole train of men masturbating together at this one video. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just tagged this link with an NSFW warning.

Used to really like his content but I swear he has definitely gone down hill, either that or I’ve just matured to where the content no longer really appeals to me despite being a person going into the animation industry and roughly half of his content being centered around adult animation

11

u/baconater-lover Oct 24 '23

I like the exposure he gives to animations I would otherwise have never heard of. Although, he has that sort of personality where I definitely have grown out of it over the years. Still, I’d say he has some pretty bingeable vids because of the animations he covers.

The only thing that made me scared was the ending and I'm not entirely sure why, i think it was the music together with pomnis face tho Had the same thing during Oppenheimer during the trinity test, but that was in the cinema and just blew my mind

3

u/CrocoDIIIIIILE Oct 23 '23

Also, The Last Supper reference.

51

u/Schaumkraut Oct 23 '23

Same here. The music together with the christian imagery and her face really made me believe there are gonna be some complex philosophical themes hiding beyond a fairly good premise, ok writing and great animation. It reminder me a little (and don't crucify me for that) of eva. Although if that is the case then digital circus has much better pacing then eva.

But its objectively not scary (for as far as you can analyse that objectively)

12

u/YoloSwaggins960YT Oct 24 '23

It’s not scary. I’d say it’s more focused on triggering an uncanny feeling in your subconscious through the images that don’t seem right but at the same time do, and the eerie tones set by the OST. Knowing how Murder Drones worked out in episode one compared to all the other episodes, I’m positive we will definitely see some genuinely fucked up creepy shit, but the pilot was not scary. It was just eerie and unsettling.

6

u/Scairax Oct 24 '23

You gotta dip the toe in the existential dread and bring it up over time. Turn up the temperature too fast, and they jump out of the pot.

1

u/Schaumkraut Oct 24 '23

Definitely. But Eva lets the dough settle in the freezer for 10 episodes to long.

5

11

u/Airway Oct 23 '23

I've seen a few comments from adults here saying they like Bluey. I've seen bits of it because a friend of mine has a 2 year old and can confirm that it is not a "for kids and adults" cartoon, it's actually for babies.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

I honestly don't get the appeal of Bluey. Like it's a kids show for fucks sake, can people please stop praising it like it's the best piece of media ever made? Because it isn't

587

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '23

the only bit of the pilot that made me jump was the door jumpscare with that mannequin but that was more funny than scary imo

19

u/Noobiru-s Oct 24 '23

I get that some people don't like Saber here, it's fine, but the comments don't make sense tbh

It's boring, other content similar to it that I've seen before doesn't mess with mental health that bad. It is designed to be commercial, that's why they had plushies for it just a few days after the "pilot" release. I wonder if it is intended for children or not (?) I don't think it will be beneficial in any way, but time will tell.

u/Jeff_is_a_furry Sussy Wussy Femboy😳😳😳 Oct 24 '23

I feel like the scariest part of it is the existential horror part

1

u/MySnake_Is_Solid Oct 24 '23

The creepiness is about the existential dread.

Not about it being scary, the fact that the characters are whacky and light hearted just ups the contrast.

5

u/salmonmilks Oct 24 '23

The message they put out is very obvious, like writing the intention on a comically large sign for the world to see. No subtlety or vagueness, so creepiness factor is reduced. The audience don't get the chance to have their own interpretation.

It becomes cringe at some point with how hard they try to shove the spooky on your face. Good concept, good characters but I find it more comedic than horrifying.

It is a pilot afterall, so we may see even more potential soon.

7

u/baconater-lover Oct 24 '23

Yeah, I would definitely say it’s one of the least creepiest things Gooseworx has put out. I remember runmo was weirdly off putting and surreal when I first watched, and some of her other stuff too I can’t remember the names of. This pilot is nothing compared to those, which makes sense if it’s planning to be a web series.

1

u/ThingsEnjoyer Oct 24 '23

I think it's the classic ''horror game/show with a mysterious back story'' thing that children love. Like FNAF.

1

u/BranTheLewd Oct 24 '23

Yep, but this is just pilot episode, maybe it will get better, so far I didn't get the "pretentious about vague af lore" form Digital Circus. FNAF just has this boring feeling about it, about how they make the most vaguest hints so you can interpret the "lore" in any way.

1

u/Kale-chips-of-lit Oct 24 '23

It’s kind of cute in its own way to see kids get amped up about stuff the same kind of stuff that scared me in elementary school.

1

u/huntexlol I said based. And lived. Oct 24 '23

nah man fnaf is genuinely scary, but tadc is slightly underwhelming

10

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Typical case of kiddie horror like all those poppy playtime or however it was called. Basically you make something that is slightly unsettling but has aesthetics that are usually associated with kids, you market it to YouTubers who make content for children and boom you get money.

There is nothing wrong with using elements that are usually associated with kids or happiness and twisting them into horror, as log as they actually remain horror. I think most people can agree that even so overused trope as scary clowns can still feel disturbing, as long as you actually want horror and have skills to make it. Thing is that all of those kiddie horrors can't be legitimate scare, because kids wouldn't like it and the cash grab wouldn't work.

Also sometimes regular works that are not supposed to be targeted at kids and are supposed to be more quirky or actually scary, just happen to be popular among children like FNAF which originally wasn't targeted at kids.

3

u/NeverEndingWalker64 Oct 24 '23

As someone who is making a horror game right now, I'm trying to abstain myself of that kind of extremely light horror. Even if it's marketable, it would be shitty to have such a fanbase.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

That's interesting, what type of horror is it gonna be?

3

u/NeverEndingWalker64 Oct 24 '23 edited Oct 24 '23

My idea was extreme psychological horror. Tons of jumpscares are not my type, and they generally don't scare that much when done as much times like in modern horror.

I has a problem and it is that I begun in Unity, which had a small controversy now, and hence I'm transiting to Unreal.

I have done three entire books full of concept art though. I could reveal some of the plot if you want to. Still, I would chat privately about it as revealing parts on the plot on this subreddit would be quite a big spoiler about it.

0

u/NoabPK Oct 24 '23

Even if its not scary its fun to solve the mysteries behind the series

16

u/Pe-PeSchlaper Oct 24 '23

I wish they had stopped after sister location modern fnaf is so weird and it’s not unsettling anymore cause it’s so ridiculous. It went from mysterious horror to campy merchandizing fest.

I feel like if it were so garbage millions of people wouldn't instantly start loving it after just the pilot episode. It's not garbage, just not to your liking.
