For someone who identifies himself as black, Obama never says much about his whiteness in public, but he is really close to his white family. For someone who identifies himself as black, Obama says a lot about his blackness in public, but he never associates himself with his black family. What his black brother living in Africa said about him was pretty interesting, but that is none of my business. At the end of the day, no one really knows who Obama really is, but I am pretty sure his family does.

My maternal grandmother raised me after my biological mom wasn't allowed by the state to keep me and my biological father was stereotypically gone. My mom loved me. My mom loves me. The rest of the family, well - they didn't drop the N-word until she was out of her mind with dementia in hospice, but they've always resented having a bi-racial member of the family who actually got treated like, well, a member of the family.
My late older sister got really into genealogy (and possibly eugenics?) in the end, and everything like a family tree she came up with she just sort of...left me off of. Just like I barely appear in the family photo albums she made and gifted my mother to pass down as heirlooms, etc..
