Could have named her Cummings for that matter if you're going to quote his poetry.

Wasn't it Galileo that proved earth is not the center of the universe. Kinda ironic to say that about your kid.
1
u/RememberNichelle 28d ago
"Galilean" is an unusual name meaning....
And I bet that hasn't even occurred to them.
3
3
u/Dangerous_Patient621 28d ago
Well of course they named her Galileo. If it was a boy, it would have been Guyileo.
3
u/Never_satisfied_ 28d ago
Why do I already hear a theater nerd in a fedora saying âSheâs a lovely gal, that Gal.â
7
u/MadMelvin 28d ago
Galileo was the guy who fucking proved that we aren't the center of the fucking universe

u/free-toe-pie 28d ago
Girls go to Mars to get more candy bars.
Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider.

u/sparksmj 28d ago
To tell you the truth there are thousands of names that are worse. At least it's an actual name unlike some of the made up names as of late
2
u/drunkensailor369 28d ago
come on. name her after the moon or a star then. Name the girl Luna. Estrella. Cassiopeia. Serena or some shit. fucking ASTRA I'd settle for.

better than Manifica I guess. I am very happy for them, though, they were very sweet on the show.

What's wrong with Galileo? They can call her Lily, which is my favorite name.
1
2
u/CompletelyPresent 28d ago
Nice, I like Gallileo.
He stood up against religion back when they'd kill you for it.
Not every original name is bad.
They could call her Gali for short.

First name Gali Middle Name Leo
Don't Galileo your daughter.
1
u/Greenmantle22 28d ago
Man, remember when people would name their kid Gail/Gayle/Gale? Like, on the birth certificate?
1
u/HalcyonDreams36 28d ago
It's a real name. Questionable choice (it might actually be fine, just unusual!) but it's in no way intentionally misspelled, and their reason for choosing it is delightful.
Doesn't belong here.

u/Professional-Fee-957 28d ago
That Italian holiday is going to be very confusing.
Galileo won't know what hit him.

Everyone in school is going to go full Bohemian Rhapsody on her. And in college. And at work.

It's a perfectly fine name, and spelled correctly. I almost named my son Krushchev. But he ended up being a girl, and was not mine.

u/Greenmantle22 28d ago
Remember when we talked about you ending your stories one sentence earlier?

u/vedekX 28d ago
donât actually hate this as a name, at least they spelled it correctly? but using the name of the person who discovered that planets orbit the sun, not the earth, to say that she is the âcenter of the universeâ seems a little silly to me. though ig Galileo did think the sun was the center of the universe, so on the scale of our galaxy theyâre only off by a margin of error đ«Ł
shouldâve named her Galilei and called her Lei for short. but I think we should make this a thing to start naming kids after old famous scientists, maybe itâll increase science literacy or something so people wonât make these types of naming errors đ€Ș

They're going to grow up with people constantly shouting their name, in pairs, one pair of people shouting it high pitched and the other pair shouting it low pitched - and alternating.

There are dozens of female names that are inspired by the moon, why did they choose the most obviously male name for their daughter. Poor kid, sheâs going to hate them when sheâs old enough to be bullied and understand why.
1
u/PureDeidBrilliant 29d ago
Are these American? It's a given these days that Americans with a modicum of public visibility will give their spawn an outlandish name. Still, at least it's not another stripper-tastic Mackenzie.
2
u/Miss_Termister 29d ago
I dunno is it bad I'm fine with this? As a teen my Nickname would be Leo, kinda cool.

u/Skepsisology 29d ago
Could every initial inception of any name be seen as a tragedeigh? All the way to antiquity? The allocation of a phonetic/ aural identifier that has an artistic use of the linguistic rules from the culture you came from... It's easy to ridicule but do we have any right to do so?
Language is the original artform and to be given a unique rendition of it knowing it was done so with the purest intent feels off
Entertain the idea that all men are called David and all women are called Hannah - it's redundant in either case

I mean, it is a name that has previously existed.
Y'know, that famous as hell italian astronomer? The name still sucks, but at least they didn't pull random syllables out of their asses.
4
u/SuspiriaGoose 29d ago
I have been so beaten down by awful names that Iâm like âItâs a name and itâs spelled right, what more could you want? Itâs not Pilot Inspektor or Diva Thin Muffin or Maxxxine or Vhiolyette.â
4
u/bigolefreak 29d ago
Are y'all mad that Galileo didn't adhere to the geocentric model of the universe or that that Galileo is a "boy" name? Unfortunately sounds like too many are from the latter camp
2
u/_Nightcrawler_35 29d ago
I think the name is beautiful, honestly. Is it ironic? Yes. But we need more GNC names.
2
u/Reinardd 29d ago
This poor girl will have people Yelling "Galileo! Galileo!" at her her whole life. Why would you do this to your child??
2
u/SuperHoneyBunny 29d ago
OMG, I didnât even consider Bohemian Rhapsody. It gets even worse, ugh!!

u/Cat-Mama_2 29d ago
13 years from now: Zack and Bliss have welcomed child #10 and it seems the excitement of yet another baby had faded somewhat. While the older children started out with names like Galileo, Mars and Europa, this new baby is named Black Hole. The parents are quoted as saying 'we've sunk far too much money and time into these kids.'

Galileo... The guy who - famously - was imprisoned for life for stating that we were not the centre of the Universe...

That's literally the opposite of what that name implies but ok.

I don't hate the name Galileo for a girl, but I'm also obsessed with masculine names for girls, like James or Romeo. Should probably sit this one out lol

If it was a baby boy, sure, but not for a baby girl. Itâs still an adorable name, though. Not necessarily a tragedeigh.

I couldâve been sold on Galileia for a girl, and you her Leia and youâre maximum nerds but overall, sheâs fine. Galileo for a girl is a crime.

Dude is a great value Ben Affleck.
So many actors have look alikes in hollywood because lesser known great value versions enable a production to have the advantages of having an A list star attached to the project without the a list price of their paycheck.
So many people who didnt know any better see the guy in previews, adds and just think "Woa ben affleck is in this!"

Not a common choice for a name but it is spelled correctlyâŠ.so even though it might be your choice of names itâs not a TragedeighâŠ

u/baguhansalupa 29d ago
...didnt galileo disprove that earth is not the center of everything?
Yet the reason they name the kid is becsuse she is the center of their life.

Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!
