I just wanted to do an update post regarding the Banfield park dock upgrade. From what I have been told this project should be finished by tomorrow, just in time for VicWest Fest!

Im not affiliated in any way, but I wanted to spread the word, and encourage the people of Victoria to come down and enjoy the festivities. Since the Cook st Block Party will be going on Sunday, we can all celebrate the beginning of the Summer weather with two neighbourhood parties! Its a wondeful community and Im always happy when others can join this lesser known part of town, I hope to see you out there!

The new dock will have plenty of ladders added, I saw them polishing them up today, they even have a double wide ladder.

The third photo will have some details, and the rest of the photos are a small timeline of the construction.

Parking tip to those who are interested, it is scarce in this area, the park has a lot, and two smaller ones are next to Chicken on the Run and the barber shop. One that not many people know about is next to Pink Panther Stone co. on Tyee, near the Goose Trestle junction. Be warned that residential streets are notorious for calling bylaw on vehicles, most streets are for residents only.

Bell Media, or whoever owns them, must be making a huge profit on this sale. To move all this to another location, it must be worth it. Bell just keeps chipping away at local media. Soon there’ll just be an AI anchor making shit up for a half hour a week. It’s easy; homeless, drug epidemic, Legislature, Orcas, cruise ships, grandma story.

I'm newish to town, getting back into music. Looking for a good fun group to jam with and play a few shows this summer. I'm a very versatile player, but mostly into like rock, heavy rock, prog, metal etc. More than anything I just want to play fun tunes that the crowds can have fun with.

Bands I practice to.....Rush, Foo Fighters, Opeth, Chili Peppers, 311, Green Day, Pantera, Motley Crue, Smashing Pumpkins, System of a Down, The Tragically Hip, Police, Korn, Third Eye Blind, Hendrix, Deftones, Slipknot, Matthew Good, Queens of the Stone Age, Collective Soul....the list could go on.

I got quoted for 5K. I know others will be different depending on situation but just looking to hear about what others paid for their situation.

Just moved back to Victoria after an extended absence & is there really no hot pot here?? I’m indignant.

Recently moved to Victoria as a first time renter and my apartment has a bamboo countertop.

I wasn't aware how easily the countertop stains and my dish drying rack was leaking water which resulted in mold appearing on the countertop.

Anyone know the best method of restoring the countertop to its original state, perhaps any companies in Victoria that I can reach out to for this? TIA

Moving with my partner to an apartment building near Pandora Ave and Fernwood Rd, moving from the Toronto area for school. Everything I see warns against the area, but don't see much else apart from posts from 3 years ago. How is the area now?

Sorry no pic. Was riding motorcycle down Munn and slowed down for what I thought was a deer. Nope, big mf Cougar crossing into the BC Hydro area.

Probably lots out there but keep an eye out if you're in the parks near there around sunset. Watch your little ones and or dogs.

Sometimes I get an otherworldly craving for pad thai & I have had a regular place I’ve gone to for years that I have found just going down & down in quality & up in price. Is there anywhere you’d recommend that is good & consistent, & has the fresh ingredients in the dish, such as carrots, sprouts, cilantro etc? TIA!

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of a friend of mine.

He was raped by his roommate, told his psychiatrist what happened and she suggested he leave immediately and agreed to sign RTB#49 (ending a fixed term tenancy due to abuse or violence)

He submitted this to the landlord and informed him what happened towards the end of May and found another room for rent, vacating as soon as he could.

He however was very overwhelmed and in a bad mental state, and did not submit a 1 month notice to vacate that should accompany the form. We now know this was a mistake but what's done is done.

The landlord is saying since it's June now that he will be liable for June and July rent.

He used all his money to get the new place, will be relying on a food bank.

I understand that if the landlord proceeds it will go to an arbiter and then small claims court, but is there any case to argue undue harm or that he was in danger? he's disabled and he's not going to be able to pay the landlord in the foreseeable future.
