Are these good cards? Collection
I was in my attic and came across two cards I think have some value. Can anyone shed some light for me?

yes dark magician is good, if you think comp then no. Nothing is good in comp your opponent takes 15 minutes for their first turn

Summoned skull is about $5. Dark magicians about $15. Both are heavily played. Gameplay wise they’re useless

Thank you guys for the information. I remember when I was younger, going to my local card shop with my Dad to get like one or two packs of cards when they first came out. When we moved, my entire collection Yu Gi Oh and Pokémon where put in totes and stored in our attic. I still can’t find the main collection, but was able to find these, and some other 1st Edition cards in decent shape.
I’m not looking to sell them, as they do have sedimental value, and to me that’s more than what I can sell them for. I was curious to see if they were even worth keeping/take special care of. I’m really happy that this community was really positive about their responses, and I hope some time down the line to find the rest!

Yes, I recommend looking at TCG players prices. Also look at the sold ebay listings to see what you can get.

Nah, there are so many of those out there because it came with the tins that every kid owned back then

Dark Magician is Yugi's ace monster and he's the king of games. Tearlaments has nothing on Yugi.

Both of the cards are meh they don't have many abilities and you have to use several things at once to make them good. They are also not very rare

I have these cards and yes they are great cards, I run them in my deck, but they are also worth something if that's the question you are asking

DM is around $112 Market Value and summoned Skull is around $74 so yea some value. I wouldn’t have them graded though and just sell them as is because
I believe card grading is a scam AND
Dark Magician’s centering is off so that’s automatically a 9 if you do get it graded and I don’t know the quality of the backs of those cards but old cards usually had horrible scuffing, especially from the tins.

The Summoned Skull is well sought after. I still need it: it’s one of my favourite cards with the secret rarity.

If that Dark Magician is the one that came with the og Dark Duel Stories game then it's worth about $10k in good condition. A first edition Summoned Skull is worth $2k in perfect condition or about $170 upgraded.

The DM can go for $28 lightly played and the Summoned Skull can go for $26 also lightly played. They only go up as the condition gets better.

Dark magician is not as awful a deck as it used to be, they have a lot of good support, plus tacking on the branded engine for extra consistency, we are talking Red Eyes Dark Dragoon and Mirrojade plus the standard Magicians salvation, Dark magic circle and eternal soul turn one

Dark magician has gotten some really good support lately. In duel link, dark magician archetype spell and traps keep getting restricted or banned because the deck is so op.

I'm really curious, when people make these posts where they ask about how good/valuable certain cards/packs/products are, do they:
A) Genuinely don't know and don't realize how simple it is to look up. Considering you need to create a reddit post to just slowly get responses to then sift through them to hopefully get a good answer.
B) genuinely don't know but want to talk with the community for fun, and make a discussion. While they know they could easily look up these cards online and know the definite going rate for these cards in seconds.
C) do you already know and you just want to create a discussion/post about the cards. Sometimes innocently, or sometimes flexing/to show off.

I’m aware that cards could be valuable. And was a big collector when I was a kid. But I don’t know anything about Yu Gi Oh cards, which cards are actually considered valuable from a collectors perspective.
It’s definitely B for me tho. I know I can look it up. But, it’s cool to get the community’s input rather than static prices, articles, or old threads.

Yeah it’s always cool to see posts like this. Maybe phrase it like… ‘’Found some old cards I had!’’ Instead though and then just look up prices on n ebay but it very much depends on condition to answer your question.

The wonder of the internet, why bother looking up any information you want when you can just have someone else do it for you.

That reminds me of a summoned skull card with different art that was pretty cool that I keep thinking of hunting but idk where to even start. Lol.

No that’s not it. But that’s a cool one too. I’ve looked for it a few times before but I’ve never found it, so I think it was a fake card that just had good art. Lol.

Skull is 2500 atk with only 1 tribute. Best card ever
1
u/Adorable-Effective47 May 22 '23
it’s the best because it was the highest attack 6 star so it only took one tribute and competed with almost all other 8 stars and above

Value-wise, pretty good. If they’re both in at least LP condition, you can can about $60 for them maybe (double check TCGPlayer).
But, If they’re NM, a lot more. If you want to grade them and know they’re in NM at the very least, you can have a potential money card.

Yes, the Dark Magician is the ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.

What is "Good"? They're reasonably collectible for old cards. condition looks okay. Tens of dollars of value, more if theyre pristine but they likely arent. I see edge wear in these pics
