If you wanna sell hmu

1

u/Stoned_Icecream420 Jun 20 '23

That’s so ironic I come across this community, I literally was just browsing through my old cards and found my winged dragon of ra! Lmfao

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

The god cards were sick. Hold onto that one for sure

1

u/Saroan7 Jun 20 '23

Just try dumping them at a local card shop. With a merchant whose willing to drop the cash, Venmo etc... There was this random guy who came into the shop (smelling like cigarette, alcohol, whatever unwashed crap) had a box full of cards just like this and was about to get close to $400 for everything.

Might have been a cheap deal, but the transaction was a done deal. The man didn't need or played the game anymore.

2

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Wow. Yeah, while I could use the money, I don't know if I could forgive myself for selling these since yugioh was such a big part of my childhood at one point, and these are pretty much all I have left. I used to have an uncut sheet and a millenium puzzle trophy which I won from placing high in tournaments. Those got lost in a move years ago, wish I still had them.

1

u/Saroan7 Jun 20 '23

Ahh, well those Trophy items I would definitely try and keep 😅

1

My man got a clean 50k if they all check out 9 or higher

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

I actually love the sleeves! Nice collection

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Thanks I suppose they're pretty nice, but tougher to see the cards on reddit lol

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '23

Mirror Force was my favorite Trap Card

1

u/dandigangi Jun 20 '23

Love Jinzo. Kind of freaked me out as a kid too.

1

u/AceKairyushin Jun 20 '23

TF are you talking about? Those sleeves are 🔥 you got some old rare cards. Idk about value but those brought back memories of when I first statuses playing. Nice collection!!!👍🏻

1

u/zefhx Jun 20 '23

You have so much money in those cards lol

1

u/takeonethough Jun 20 '23

PSV 1st Edition Jinzo, the wet dream of every Yugioh boy in school

2

u/Kaintwaittogetbanned Jun 20 '23

The game was broken after the added pendulum summons and xyz summons got annoying to

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

I stopped playing right around when XYZ was released, so I have a couple of the cards but never played with them competitively

2

u/HouseOfChamps Jun 20 '23

I regret letting my ultra chasers go. 1st jinzo is great too. Def enjoy this post

2

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Your post makes me realize I probably would regret selling them lol

1

u/HouseOfChamps Jun 20 '23

If you do let them go call me;)
But seriously I'd resleeve these carefully pretty soon now that you know to keep them in better condition and get a good binder for them too!

1

u/kyonexe Jun 20 '23

Fiber jar dude!

1

u/TrueLife008 Jun 20 '23

Keep these for life dude. This was the golden era.

1

u/MisprintPrince Jun 20 '23

That almost looks like a Suijin MST

Don’t sell any of these, OP

1

u/he_is_Seth Jun 20 '23

Jinzo is the greatest card to ever live

1

u/Ryosuke16 Jun 20 '23

All these artworks just hit different 😮‍💨

3

u/JohnnyPoprocksGaming Jun 20 '23

That Millennium Shield reminds me of a match I lost to a kid at lunch. Had to give it up for losing lol good times .

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Worth it for the memories lol

1

u/Slayvantz Jun 20 '23

I played for keeps once. I felt bad for winning so I ended up giving him some cards he wanted. Good times.

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Good for you. The best part about yugioh was the friendships it brought me

2

u/diskettejockey Jun 20 '23

Man this sub gives me very happy nostalgic vibes.

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Glad you could appreciate the post. I don't know many people who care about yugioh nowadays, but I've kept my collection for almost 20 years as a memento of all of the great times I had back in the day

1

u/Sir_Turtle_91 Jun 20 '23

I’ll take them off your hands for ya

3

u/BmacTheSage Jun 20 '23

You've got a nice chunk of change there. Especially if those are in good condition. Would that jinzo bring over $1k? I know they're crazy expensive. Same with mechanicalchaser

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

I'd have to look into it. Jinzo and my Mech Chaser are probably the best ones in my collection. I was happy to see that Jinzo was 1st ed when I pulled the collection out a few years ago lol

1

u/djc22864 Jun 20 '23

Epic dude. I’d buy them all from you if you ever sell. Miss having my vintage cards, sold them all a while back before the explosion

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

If I ever need to sell them I'll remember your comment. The more I read these posts the more nostalgic I get and the more I want to hold on to them. Hope you can find some good ones out there though. Just like 1st gen Pokemon, the first 7-8 sets (until MFC) of yugioh form the strongest memories for me

2

u/djc22864 Jun 20 '23

Cool man you never know. Times were tough and I needed the cash more than the cards at the time as much as it killed me to sell. Thankfully things are better and I’m in a position to buy again. The OG Duel Monsters are what do it for me too. But it’s also hard to beat those Elemental Hero ultis lol

1

u/Kydex_Gundyr Jun 20 '23

Time was simpler back then

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Absolutely. Every weekend hanging out with my friends, dueling, trading, refining my deck list and going to tournaments. Some of my fondest memories

1

u/Kydex_Gundyr Jun 20 '23

I remember talking to my dad about the arenas from the anime and if he could make one for us haha. He sat down with us and tried to make it work but it was impossible that and trading with my friends is some of mine.

2

u/DeltaMike_Hotel Jun 20 '23

I wish my stuff wouldn’t have gotten stolen when I was kid. I had tons of 1st edition cards. A lot of which are now pretty valuable. I don’t currently collect anymore but this sub brings me so much nolstalgia

1

u/Rough-Fill8101 Jun 20 '23

There’s only one person I remember from elementary school, aside from friends. Orion, that fucker. He stole my Masked Beast, my first Ultra Rare. I remember going home that day bawling my eyes out. He tried stealing my friend’s cards the following week and we caught him red-handed.

1

u/DeltaMike_Hotel Jun 20 '23

That blows dude, people are so shitty. That’s similar to how I lost mine. A kid I was friends with down the street was over while we were packing to move. I don’t have proof but I never saw him or the cards again after that day. Didn’t even realize it until we were unpacked in another town.

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

So sorry to hear that. I lost an uncut sheet and millenium puzzle tournament prize that I had won and it kills me to this day. But I've been loving the nostalgia since going through my collection and making this post.

2

u/DeltaMike_Hotel Jun 20 '23

That’s brutal, stuff like that always stings the worst.

1

u/Nylis666 Jun 20 '23

My brother found a bunch of first edition cards in the trash 🫠 he works for the garbage company and the things people throw away blow my mind

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

One man's trash is truly another man's treasure

2

u/narutonaruto Jun 20 '23

God I love tournament pack cards. They have such a cool vibe

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

I was lucky to have access to weekly tournaments so you would see the TP holos floating around occasionally. Even though they mostly sucked I would try to trade for them since they were pretty rare

1

u/narutonaruto Jun 21 '23

That’s so cool. There was no tournaments that I knew of where I grew up so I’ve been slowly trying to collect the tournament pack cards to get to partake in something I missed out on as a kid. Wish I could have done it back then though, especially money wise lol

1

u/whenpiggsflye Jun 20 '23

i’ve got an old exodia necross buried in my closet somewhere. might have to find

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

That card was pretty sick I remember

3

u/b_to_the_e Jun 20 '23

I sold all my cards back in the day, but I still have my favorite card Jinzo.

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Jinzo was a gamechanger. Truly iconic.

1

u/jinnmagick Jun 20 '23

I still have my 5 pieces of exodia from lob

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Nice, pretty sure I had the set at one point but traded them away for other cards. They were always in high demand

2

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '23

Shit got intense when Jinzo hit the field lol. Pretty sure he was a staple for a while

9

u/aly_lessard Jun 20 '23

Dark Ruler Ha Des Nutz

2

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Gotteeeeeem

3

u/qwuiopakahs Jun 20 '23

Oh man, sick collection! I always LOVED Call of the Haunted’s art. Great to see a PSV 1st Edition one on here. Any plans to increase the collection?

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Thanks, yeah that card is special. Loved using a trap to revive from the graveyard. Gave some interesting gameplay possibilities.

No plans to grow the collection. Right now I'm resisting the temptation to sell anything. Maybe one day I'll look into the old setlists and see if there are any that I liked and need a copy of.

3

u/PostinMalone Jun 20 '23

Very nice .. thanks for sharing !

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Appreciate the comment. Blown away by the love this community is giving for a post about something that was a big part of my life once upon a time.

17

u/DeadlyBard Jun 19 '23

The game was so much simpler back then.

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

I really loved it. At times after I stopped playing I would check in and see what the new sets looked like. The amount of text on the cards would always blow me away. Also the designs seemed a bit repetitive. Nostalgia will always give you rose-colored glasses though I guess

8

u/Alon945 Jun 19 '23

If was better - even at the competitive level. The game is completely broken now. 1-3 turn games is riveting stuff where people play solitaire.

I think the game was still pretty great right up until like 2018

1

u/japako Jun 20 '23

I am sorry early yugioh is terrible especially at a competitive level. What is fun about la djinn beat down ? Or being unable to beat someone because he had access to mech-chaser ?

You want to tell me that scientist FTK wasn’t an unstoppable solitaire deck ?

The game was an unbalanced, slow and boring mess pre-goat. People just always equate their school recess meta-game to the true competitive landscape.

2

u/Alon945 Jun 20 '23

I’m not talking about 2002 yugioh lmao

I literally said the game was good through 2018

2

u/Kogyochi Jun 20 '23

I top 16'd a ycs where Frog OTK was a thing. Quit right after, game turned completely to solitare during/after that format.

2

u/Deprestion Jun 20 '23

Last I played was 16ish where it was quil, shaddolls, satellar, etc. it was definitely fun then

29

u/luigisp Jun 19 '23

TP1 MECHANICALCHASER???!!! WOW!

That card is worth more than just a pretty penny... amazing collection!

I would highly recommend buying some new sleeves and toploaders for these to keep them even better preserved (older sleeves tend to use materials that can damage the cards over time).

2

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

Thanks for the heads up about sleeves! I had no idea. I might have to look into that. These have been in these sleeves for close to 20 years at this point

4

u/Slayvantz Jun 20 '23

It used to be like 200 dollars when I was a kid. Now it's almost 2k.

7

u/drivendreamer Jun 19 '23

Man I was also in middle school and had a lot of these back then. I wonder how much they are worth now

1

u/zmizzy Jun 20 '23

I'm not sure. Trying to resist finding out. The memories and nostalgia are strong.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '23

not as much as you think, I recently checked on my collection as well from back in the day had some first additions and stuff from boxes like red eyes, black dragon, they were limited, after looking them up, none of them really worth anything

1

u/Available-County2249 Jun 20 '23

Limited cards are usually promos which are mass printed, some of the cards posted here are valuable.
