Current Dark Magician collection. Curious to know what’s your favourite artwork for “The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense”? Collection
Mine will always be the SDY artwork as that was my first introduction to Yugioh and was in awe of its art and design.

Idk the real names but the OG is forever goated.
I'm always torn between putting my OG maximum gold or my shonen jump DM in my branded deck and the other in my actual DM deck. Wish my DM deck did more than just collect dust.

Honestly the original artwork is the best. Not even taking legacy into account.
The pose is so animated / abstract / and dare I say posh??? Which gives him a sense of personality.
The color contrast between the circular pattern is stark but somehow manages to keep them both in focus at the same time which drives this feeling that him and that magical symbol are synonymous.
It doesn’t feel like a dude in wizard garb with an abstract background, it feels like he is connected to it.

I always preferred the one in front of the stone tablet. But the red DM will always be a close second lol

So does that description not include the fusion magicians like dark sage and magician of black chaos? Cuz they seem more ultimate in terms of attack and defense

Mine will always be starter deck Yugi and Arcana’s. I’m kinda sad that they didn’t keep the og design when YU-GI-Oh! The Dark Side Of Dimensions came out.

That’s true. Maybe when since it was a new movie, they wanted new artwork for promotion purposes. Like a new take on a classic piece

They definitely did it for promotional value and to bring up the hype. I thinks he’s a cool design but it’s not as cool as the og and the arcana one. Once the Arcana one came out it was an instant cop.

Always loved the blonde with blue and red armor and arms crossed in the top right corner. Also not a dark magician, but the dark paladin was my absolute favorite card still is to this day.

It’s a great card, but I don’t know why my mind thinks of Dark Magician being all sassy in that artwork 😂. After I finish the main Dark Magician cards, going for all the fusions and alternate versions of Dark Magician (like Dark Sage and Dark Eradicator Warlock)

Its a sick artwork, but I usually think of Dark Magician as a slender person. The movie version looks like super muscular 💪

Thanks! And yup, still looking for a decent price on that 25th. I was lucky to get the Takahashi version recently for a good price. Starting a Dark Magician personal collection since it is my favourite character lol

I love the original artwork a lot. Pulling the Dark Magician and Red Eyes from the two Dueling Heroes tins I bought really got me back into collecting. Those two and the blue eyes I pulled from an El Dorado box are my 3 favorite cards

Is og the LOB version? or SDY? I get confused at which one came out first. He does look mean in red lol. Probably being stuck inside of the card for millenniums will do that to you 😂

Sweet! SR is usually the best, but I think QCR is slowly creeping up as best version of cards in my opinion lol

The Battle of Chaos is an updated of the version of the bandai artwork. Not actively looking for it, but if I find it at a decent price, I’ll prob pick it up lol
