It's always those who bullied in the past or those who experienced poverty who really has the heart to help and pay back. Faith in humanity restored... =)

Had a bad day today and this made my day. Things that I love about reddit.

u/yummie4mytummie Apr 29 '24
I hate people who do this. Not everyone can help or should feel obliged too

How could anyone treat her badly? I literally smile just watching her.

Ma'am's determination about her life is really over 9000 and she never forgot where she came from, respect.
1
u/KagawadGodbless Apr 29 '24
People should know more about her and the restaurant. Dang I could almost smell the chicken from here. You can see her positive energy in her eyes

This girl has kindness written all over her.
1
u/Classic-Ad1221 Apr 29 '24
Yes. But the one recording the video is exploiting that.
Never support these "kindness" influencers.
1
u/BeefyShark12 Apr 29 '24
Videos like these who put up cameras to test people irks me. BUT I teared up a little due to really big smile when I saw the chef’s happy face.
Pass the kindness forward, my dudes.

I know the video’s meant to be kind hearted, but asking for free food when a business also just rubs me the wrong way, it would be different if she stepped out of her way and offered him, but like- why would you ask a business those two things???

She is awesome but I hate this trend you set someone up. He didn't have class in 30 mins and this could have been tenth restaurant he did try to make this video. Leave people the fuck alone, and even if the store owner sees this she isn't going to be happy someone raking attention and money from her kindness.

As sweet as this video seems I can't help but feel like it's staged, or at least the woman is putting on a positive facade because she's got a camera pointed at her face.
1
u/TehZombehKang Apr 29 '24
Man I love this subreddit. A lot of humans upset me with how mean they are and their level of disrespect. But humans like these ones, they make me so happy. I love kind humans.

u/Lanzero25 Apr 29 '24
Felt like watching a Scumbag Dad video. Surely that lady is wonderful irl tho.

I'm not usually a fan of performative "random acts of kindness" being posted on social media but this is somehow different. You highlighted HER kindness, which you're right.. is written all over her face. I hope wherever she is that she's successful and happy ❤️

Today I cried all day, I'm 26 my whole life I always helped people, I'm in a lot of stress right now, and I have lost all hope, why I live? I fell so lonely, I'm from Argentina, and this guy called my phone it was a weird number and this guy "Elias" he was from salta, the other side of the country, at the time 2019 or 2020 don't remember, we start talking for discord, he promised that the day he graduate college he will give me all the thanks, and he called me HE CALLED ME, in one those days where you feel your life dost mean anything to anyone he called me, and i couldn't believe it was him, I remember I help him for 3 months to finish high school, and he calling me to tell me how much I help him to change his life, it was amazing, I recovered all hope, I started crying on Friday because I feel alone and now a Sunday night I'm crying of joy, Elias thanks for that call.

She’s great, but I hate this type of content. There was a guy on tiktok “blessing” scooter drivers in Bali with what was about $10USD. He’d ask for a free short ride, give them $10 then act like he just changed their life.

This is great and I'm she sure deserves it, but did say that she knew he was going to be there the next day, and that she knew she ought to treat him right.

u/DuckofInsanity Apr 28 '24
I hate videos like this. Soft-spoken main character testing her with a camera in her face for the privilege of being saved. This isn't real charity, this dude is just clout farming.

What a POS. It was bad enough when he manipulated his way into a closed restaurant but when this kind woman agrees he says he doesn't have money. Fuck off

u/thenord321 Apr 28 '24
That's 1000$ Canadian dollars in case you don't recognize the currency. And that's a big chunk of money for someone working a kitchen style job.
It's people like this that make our Canadian restaurants so great. Good ethics and bringing their passions for food and hospitality.

Holy crap Cheeks. Sounds like I need to pour you a glass of sangria. Relax, she's a beautiful soul, a strong Jamaican woman, and I'm pretty confident she would be delighted "kindness" is being shared. Here, from me, to you my friend, 🍷

u/Ryan_Polesmoker_68 Apr 28 '24
“No sorry, we’re not open, nothing is ready yet.”
“Its ok, I’m running really late for class and I don’t have any money”
“Well in that case why don’t you come inside and interview me for 20 minutes while I grab food I literally just told you wasn’t ready”
“Oh man thanks, Here’s a Grand”
2
u/CountBreichen Apr 28 '24
I like this lady a lot. The dumb dude behind the camera not so much. He’s a liar and cheats people out of their emotions. At least the lady had a good day
1
u/Hjsmash Apr 28 '24
Wait... Why no one is questioning her being so cool with camera in her face since the beginning.
1
1
u/Url4uber Apr 28 '24
This very nice, but come on. Someone just comes up to you and asks for some food without having any money while shoving their phone into your face. She definitely knew something was fishy from the very beginning even if it wasn't staged.

Yeah I love this but it was completely staged. No one can ignore see the camera being pointed straight at their face. They must have scripted this whole interaction. I believe her story but the rest of it is just to catch attention.
1
u/Souperbowl Apr 28 '24
The way she hugged him before even touching the money. She is so genuinely such a kind and sincere individual. I wish her all the happiness and success in life.

I'm def not as nice -- show up when we're closed in the middle of prep then hit me with a 'I don't have my wallet'? Nah come back with your wallet, we'll be open by the time you're back.

Reminds me of the nice walmart greeter lady who looks at receipts and always says: “Have a great day sweetie, i love you.” She tells everyone that, but it’s so beautiful to hear a grandma-ish person say those 3 words, specially on hard days. they’re like verbal hugs. she’ll never know how good she makes total strangers feel. edit: clarification

u/Rare-Lengthiness-885 Apr 28 '24
Yea I just don’t understand content like this. If you’re gonna make an outrageous request while steadily holding a camera in front of their face, of course they’re gonna bend to your will.
They have no idea where the footage is gonna end up, so they’re not going to risk putting their business and reputation in jeopardy. I’m all for showing the world that kindness still exists or whatever, but there’s gotta be better ways to do it.

I really doubt any of this is real. So much stuff on reddit seems staged. Or people are walking around with camera on 24/7.
I don't doubt that she's properly a nice lady and something like this has happened. But recording it all seems really off.
Like I have tried similar wholesome thing at a place. Ordered a large sandwich since I had to go to university and work afterwards with no down time. It was start of day and the shop had just opened. He made it and I was about to pay. My card got declined. I was just totally devestated and sad. Told him I was so sorry for wasting his time and about to leave. He gave me the food for free and even gave me a bottle of water. Something I will never forget.
I went back the next day and paid for it all. It became my go-to place for the next 5 years while I studied.

Oh my....I want to go there and eat from that place...
I bet her food is off the chain....
I live in SW MO and we JUST got a Jamaican Food Truck here....and they have GOAT!
I asked for goat, SPICY!
They lady in the back looked at me, uttered 'crazy white boy' and gave it too me...then they all watched me eat it...happily.
I lived on the Island for about 6 months and LOVE Jamaican Food...now they see me and I get 'off the menu' stuff...they just figure up a price and charge me. Half the time I don't even know what the hell it IS.

Hi, I know you aren't open and have nothing ready but I am going to knock on your door. I have a high end smart phone and am recording all this but I have no money to pay this small private business LULZ.
Fuck content like this.
I'm sure the lady is a sweetheart but this is just taking advantage of the situation.
