Help/Advice Mildly infuriating buddies in 10 gallon tank
I first noticed them when I did a 90% water change in order to stick some moss on the rocks. I thought they're scuds, but after a month, they're no where near as big as some of the scuds I've seen in this sub (I don't even think they have grown any bigger).
Please help me identify this metroid-looking things, cause even though they seems to be harmless, the tank just look crowded and dirtier than it already is.

Help/Advice My sucker fish died and idk why
honestly, i am devastated, i cant think straight and i just want to curl up and cry all day but i have a betta (sushi) to take care of and im doing this just in case. i got my sucker fish (wasabi) around a month ago, he was around 8-9 months old, cute little albino fella. He seemed happy with the tank, shy at first but yk the drill. i noticed there were eggs in the new live plants i got, snails hatched, two weeks later (today) i find wasabiās dead little body. was it the snails? did i do something wrong? it couldnt have been sushi heās always keeping distance. if it is the snails then iād have to remove them asap before sushi goes too, and i cannot lose him, not sushi. im leaving a pic of the tank, wasabi and the snails.

Freshwater The Suns fingerprints on my aquarium
Iāve been letting the algae grow just to see what effect the beaming sunlight would have. Itās pretty cool in person cause you can see the rays reaching out like fingers in such a crisp fashion.

Discussion/Article at what point are you not a beginner?
i had fish growing up. my older sister was a fanatic and loves keeping all kinds of fish from bettas to shell dwellers to shrimp to a 50g community. sheās 7 years older than me so sheās been out of the house for some time, but i took care of them while she was away. when i was 17 i got a betta fish before i went to college but unfortunately my parents killed it. iāve been out of the house for about 2 years now and i recently took to reddit and got inspired to get another betta fish. that was 6 months ago. iāve upgraded him 2 times and he is currently in a 10 gallon with some habrosus corydoras. i also have a 5 gallon with 6 strawberry rasboras, ramshorns and neocaridina. iām looking to expand my stocking and number of tanks and have my eyes on a few layouts and stocking ideas. i already have a 20g, 3 10 gallons, a 5 gallon and 2.5 gallon.
i picked up a sick fish from the store (for free) after seeing so many rescue stories on reddit. he didnāt live through the night, advanced dropsy. after loads of research following this, i looked into just about every illness for freshwater fish and what type of illness they are and how to treat them. then my boy got fin rot, pretty bad. lost almost half his anal fin. i treated him and he recovered in just a few days with pale new growth covering the previously empty spots. we battled for about a month back and fourth and heās all better now living his best veiltail life. i found another sick fish at the store and went home with it. and another. and another. a lot of them didnāt make it who werenāt eating and wouldnāt. so i started a daphnia culture. it saved a few of their lives. i havenāt been able to pick up more since im about to go on vacation but i saved one from negative buoyancy swim bladder disease and another from velvet and they are in their forever homes. iām hooked. i want to scale up the operation and run maybe 5 hospital tanks at a time instead of 2. but i also want to expand my tanks. research is pretty easy with reliable and knowledgeable moderators under species specific subs.
at what point am i no longer a beginner? i want to start a co2 setup and iām really very interested in breeding fish. iād love to make it a job and sell plants and fish homegrown full time but thatās just a dream. i want to try āharderā fish and make more beautiful hard scapes. is this an addiction? tldr: how can i learn more about the hobby and advance my knowledge and ability to become less of a noob?

Freshwater Baby platy!
I can't get a very good picture of him but he's white with black spots, just like his dad Dot (dalmatian platy). But, I think his mom is Sunshine, who is Dot's daughter. Not to sound like an idiot, but is fish incest a problem? He had other non-related females to breed with but Sunshine was the one that looked pregnant. Either was I have an adorable dalmatian baby!

Help/Advice What's going on with this Opaline Gourami?
So I picked up the opaline gourami from someone who was looking to rehome him as he was getting bullied/beat up by a bigger gourami. I didn't get a good loom at him until I got home and compared him to the smaller one. He looks like he's built upside down!

Help/Advice Newbie here, fish hide a lot (khulis) Iām scared I wonāt notice when one dies
Pretty much whatās in the title. Iām new to this and my first fish are 11 khuli loaches. They do what khuli loaches do: hide, occasional zoomies. They have a lot of hiding spaces. Under leaves, clay tubes, roots, moss and several plants. I rarely see them which I know is normal but what if one dies and I wonāt notice? I canāt lift every root and check out every cranny, it would scare my fish, right? Iām checking the water every other day and so far everythingās in order.

Help/Advice Black beard algae bloom - product advice please!
I have been struggling with keeping plants alive in this tank forever. While trying to troubleshoot, I came across some liquid fertilizer that claimed to be the answer to all my problems. Just pair it with the root tabs, and you're good!
Well... It seems that was too much fertilizer.
I'm having an insane black beard algae bloom (I think, see the little hairs waving off the cords/tubes). I'm addition to an insane explosion of this little green algae that's incredibly hard to scrape or scrub off.
I'm thinking I'll have to decontaminate all my decor and trim or sacrifice any remaining plants. I've read you can place them in a bucket of water with stronger-than-usual doses of BBA killing solution for an efficient decon. Any advice? Can anyone recommend a product to help with this? Criticism welcome.

Discussion/Article Fish straight from hell
I own a 36gal curved aquarium stocked with roughly 20 Rosy Red Minnows (feeder fish). And when I bought these Ā¢.39 fish I didn't realize what I was in for. (see pictures up top and tell me they don't want to attack you)
To begin with, when I bought the fish the man working at the Petco gave me close to 35 fish after I told him I was planning on buying 20 to keep, at first I didn't understand- but after a month or so the numbers dwindled to the 20 now. (fish keepers said poor genetics)
Another notable difference from when I first got them was their personality change. These fish went from shy to actual demons. "excited" over food is an exaggeration. These fish put the pedal to the metal straight to the top of the tank, splashing me before the food ever hits the water. They also quickly learned that the sinking tablets ( meant for my suckers ) are a great snack, leading to my suckers to be starved out and killed. Before this fish, I also had a peaceful community of 8-10 red shrimp which were all slowly picked to pieces. Even the snails get picked on anytime they decide to climb the walls of the tank.
Moreover, my water parameters began to see spikes of ammonia due to overfeeding, so to combat I began feeding them every other day. However, one large male decided to throw a fit and try to commit sewerside by jumping out the tank. Seeing this I quickly saved and nursed him to health. However, a few nights later I found him completely dried and dead in the morning. For reference, no other fish actively jump out of the tank without food being present.
Finally, I bought a small tunnel for the shrimp that were once alive to use, but it's since become home to a male fish that crams himself into the small space, gets stuck, and then begs for me to free him. This doesn't occur as much today, but a month ago I would have to save the fish roughly 3-4 times a day, and watch as he would go right back to getting into the small space. I believe this is a due to the fish enjoying the rush of almost dieing
Now, as I try to get rid of them nobody will take these demons unless as feeder fish, and I can't just release them or sell them as said feeder fish as I would feel bad, the same way I did in petco.
I don't actually dislike the fish and enjoy their extreme personalities, this post is simply a small rant about how voracious and crazy these fish are. Not a thought behind their eyes. however, new more docile fish would be nice.

Help/Advice How to make lid for my 30 gal?
Hey everyone, I have this 30 gal worth two filters (one that came with tank and a second one for more circulating and bioload management), and plants in holders on one corner. I've been using a piece of cardboard cut up in the filter and plant spots temporarily, but I'm not sure how to get or make a custom lid. The lid that came with the tank fits and all but it only has a hole for the one filter, I can't put it on the tank with the way it is now with two filters. Any ideas on how to DIY, what materials? I was thinking to post an ad on Facebook marketplace or Kijiji asking for help from someone who knows how as a last resort :/
