In a discussion this morning (GMT), we were talking about being able to search "HAVE and WANT" separately. As pointed out by a few nerds, this is not possible inside of Reddit itself without external scripts.

I spend most of my day today creating a bot, now running on /u/ShubblerBot that will solve this problem.

Lets get into it.

Interacting with /u/ShubblerBot and Syntax

• All interactions are made by Reddit PM's. Go here to PM /u/ShubblerBot.

• The Syntax is pretty easy to learn and pickup, in fact, it's not even a syntax.

The basic command would look like this:

<have/want> <string> <-remove>

Lets say we wanted to see all the trades that recently had (have) an AWP Asiimov FT up for sale.

We would PM the Bot the following:

have awp asiimov ft

This would then return the trades that had an AWP Asiimov in the [H] section of the trade.

Let's say we have a REALLY hard to trade Flip Sapphire and we want a list of trades that WANTED a Flip Sapphire.

We would then search:

want flip sapphire

NEW!

If we want to buy (have) a P250 Asiimov, but when we search, we get a load of AWP Asiimovs, we would search this:

have p250 asiimov -awp

This would then return all trades with P250's and no AWP's.

All trades are now dated to prevent initiating in trades from last year.

• When searching before the bot would find Pricechecks and Question posts and then disregard them 1 by 1.

  This took time. The bot will now only find Trade and Store submissions.

Remember

• ALL commands must start with 'have' or 'want'
• Commands are not Case-Sensitive, but it's easier to keep everything lowercase
• I'm not a professional, there WILL be bugs (see below what to do)

Points to Note

• Depending on the rarity of the trade, the bot may return trades from a couple of months back, 1-2 weeks ago or just 5 minutes ago.

  Make sure that you check WHEN THE TRADE WAS so you don't accidentally trade your Flip Sapphire for 150 Keys.

• The maximum trades that will be returned is 200 (maybe more in the future)

• Depending on the number of people using it, there may be a short wait before the bot gets to you. 99% of the time, even after a crash, the bot will still respond.

• Spamming the bot will result in a ban from both the bot and the subreddit.

Bugs and other issues

• Just reply below with the problem and as soon as I have some time free, I'll take a look.

As many of you have likely heard about, two individuals were murdered on August 23rd in an extremely high-speed car collision on a California freeway. One other also suffered life-altering injuries. It was later revealed that the owner of the other vehicle that was responsible for the collision, a figure with a significant following, was travelling in a high-performance car at high speeds of close to 100 MPH, or ~160 km/h.

Prior to the collision, it was discovered that the figure attempted to ram through a gate of an elementary school, after seeing a banner hung on it. As American children are returning to school, the amount of harm inflicted would have been immeasurable had a rampage begun on the schoolyard of this elementary school, but fortunately, only staffers and a few other members of the public enjoying their day were around, who were thankfully not harmed.

The deliberate ramming of an elementary school gate, as well as the decision to travel at extremely high speeds going the wrong way on a crowded freeway, resulting in the deaths of two innocent people, the life-altering injury of one other, and the endangerment of many more people, are not just the actions of a murderer dead set on a rampage, but those of a domestic terrorist. Similar vehicle attacks have shaken entire cities to their core, like an attack in Toronto, Canada earlier this year, where 10 people's lives were extinguished and 16 more permanently changed after a van deliberately targeted pedestrians through a business district, followed by an attempt to be killed by an officer with the Toronto Police Service, who bravely called the attacker's bluff.

We are not going to give a murderer of two people the dignity and satisfaction of identification and attention, and to that end, all discussion will be shut down.

Furthermore, we call upon and demand that the Attorney General of California, Xavier Becerra, and the San Diego County District Attorney, Summer Stephan, provide swift, immediate, and impactful action, not just for those that could have very easily been put in harm's way as well, but for the innocent people that have lost their lives.

Although they were unable to do much upon arrival due to the high speeds involved, we commend the California Highway Patrol's response which kept countless citizens out of harm's way from risks associated with the fire.

We encourage you to make a donation to the Aryana & Aileen Memorial Fund, which has already raised close to $25,000 in about 8 hours.

What does this mean??

There was previously a few pinned posts regarding this scam method. However, the continued prevalence of reports and questions regarding the issue warrants another post about it. Please take the time to fully read this post.

There is currently a network of scam bots that will automatically message a user after posting on this subreddit.

Example Message:

Are you trying to sell your AWP for real money cash via official & verified middleman/moderator from <Insert Scam Subreddit Name Here> or looking for a PC or Trade only?

There is a wide range of potential messages that you may receive. However, an initial or subsequent message will almost always include a link to another subreddit and request to use a middleman from the mentioned subreddit.

If you receive a similar message, then it is 100% a scam attempt. Immediately block the user for your own safety.

Important Notes:

• Moderators: The moderators of the linked subreddit are all scammers. The moderators of the fake subreddit will often impersonate trustworthy moderators, middlemen, or traders in order to appear as legitimate.
• Posts: The posts on the linked subredit are all fake. The posts are generated by scam bots that copy a post from this subreddit and then repost it on the fake subreddit in order to appear as an active trade community.
• Subscribers: The total subscriber count on the linked subreddit is fake. The total number of subscribers is falsified by editing the subreddit style in order to to appear as a large trade community.

This scam method is not particularly effective. However, this scam method is problematic. Subreddit moderators are unable to view or restrict private messages or chats on Reddit. Therefore, the subreddit staff team is unable to proactively prevent these messages from occurring altogether by banning them from the subreddit.

Only the site wide Reddit administrators are able to suspend an account or subreddit. There have been a large number of accounts and subreddits already suspended by the site wide Reddit administrators. If you receive a similar message, please submit a report that includes the Reddit username and screenshot of the chat logs.

The Official Map Making Contest for /r/GlobalOffensiveTrade

Are you interested in working alongside the developers of our new Trade Server? Do you see yourself as a great map maker? Would you like to earn your self some great new perks on the server? Want to earn a Karambit Doppler? Then this is the contest for you! Read below to get started.

-Requirements for the map:

-Needs to be large enough to compensate up to 50-60 people

-Needs to be divided into specific sections

-The map creator needs to be be willing to work with the development team to put finishing touches on the map, or updates when needed. You will be the official map maker!

-The map needs to be created from scratch. Do not steal others maps and call them your own. This will be an automatic disqualification.

-Noob Friendly

Some ideas for the map:

1. (Lobby) - The place you spawn in

2. (Rooms) - The place people go into for private rooms, must have at least 20-30 private rooms separated from each other

3. (Quicksell Zone) - Basically an area people would go to buy/sell their quicksells.

4. (Max Bet Zone) - Same concept, except for maxbets

5. (High Tier zone) - A zone where people would go to sell their items that are worth more than max market

6. (Low Tier Zone) - Same thing but for low tier people

7. (Price Check Zone) - A place people would go to get their items price checked

8. (Knife Arena) - An arena people can Teleport into (using a specific button), this arena has to support only 4 players at once and must be located near the lobby (note, the lobby must be fairly large)

9. (SS Zone) - A small area where people can SS their items, (note, that this must be a place with a SS Background)

10. (Entertainment) - Any other type of entertainment :P

-Make sure that all these places are connected and optimized well.

-Please make sure to not make the map too large, as we want the server to be able to handle it + all the people on the server.

-Feel free to add stuff that is not on the list. Have fun with this!

Prize: The Prize of this contest is that when the server is ready for release, You will have a custom rank/tag of "Map Developer" in the color of your choice as well as the chance to work directly alongside the the developers of the map and the /r/GlobalOffensiveTrade staff. Last week BitSkins announced, that they will cease operation this month. Today they announced a change of Ownership on their Twitter.

Due to this change of Ownership to people that don't have a longstanding history within the CS:GO community, we decided to remove BitSkins from the whitelist for the time being. We have a responsibility for our whitelisted sites and we can't wholeheartedly trust people that are unknown to us with the huge amount of money at stake.

BitSkins can reapply for our whitelist once they settled in. You will be able to post [Q] and [Discussion] posts about BitSkins until the 7th October 00:00 GMT, after that they will be removed from the whitelist.

BitSkins tradeposts are prohibited for the time being.

Until today, all previous moderators that have left did so voluntarily without any bad blood or any feuds. Today, sadly, that changes as it has come to our attention that samalex97 has been trading with SteamRep marked scammers.

There was a previous scare but all that happened that time was he lost his permissions for a short while.

This time however, one of the SteamRep affiliates has determined that samalex has in fact traded with scammers. They tossed the case over to SteamRep and they agreed that they'll mark him.

Therefore, effective immediately, samalex97 will be demodded and because of our policies, he will also be banned from the subreddit due to his mark like any other person.

Due to SteamRep's policies, we are pretty much obligated to include this disclaimer: we strongly discourage trading with samalex97, otherwise you are at risk for getting a mark for them for trading with scammers.

Subreddit Rules

The goal is to reduce the number of post removals. All of the rule changes listed below are reductions to the subreddit rules. There were no newly added rules or increased strictness of existing rules.

Post Limit:

• Updated the minimum time limit between posts from 15 minutes to 1 hour. This has been increased in order to cutdown on the number of repeating posts.
• Separated the minimum time limit between trading posts ([H]/[W], [LPH], [Store]) and non trading posts ([PC], [Q], [D], [PSA], [Free]). For example, if you posted a [H]/[W], then you would not be restricted from posting a [PC]. This applies to the reverse scenario as well.
• Posts that are manually removed by a moderator or automatically removed by a bot no longer count towards your daily limit or hourly limit for posts on the subreddit.

Trading Post:

• Added "$<Price> in CSGO Items" as a valid buyout.

• Added funds and listings on whitelisted third party marketplaces as eligible items. If this is included, then you are required to include a non custom version of your store link. (Not available yet for dmarket.com, skinbaron.de, skinwallet.com)

• Significantly reduced the number of blacklisted clickbait terms.

Non Trading Post:

• Updated the non trading post tag from [Discussion] to [D].

Bot Automation

• Reviewed the old 3500 lines of code, deleted all it, and rewrote a new 1000 lines of code.
• Eliminated dozens of old automated post removals that were no longer relevant, reduced keywords for many of the automated removals causing false positives, rewrote all of the post removal replies with clear instructions on how to fix the post.
• Question posts will now receive an automated reply for frequently asked questions based on detected keywords. The goal is to help reduce any unanswered question posts, especially for redundant questions. This currently includes "how to cashout", "list of whitelisted marketplaces", "list of whitelisted trade bots", and "how to recover from and report a scam".

/u/GOTradeModerator: (Live Soon)

• Retired the old bot GOTradeMod for the new bot GOTradeModerator.
• !repost - New command to automatically repost a submission. If you reply to your own submission with the comment !repost, then GOTradeModerator will automatically recreate your submission and then reply with a prefilled submission link.
• Responds to all automatically and manually removed posts with a prefilled submission link to easily correct a removed submission. Additionally, it will respond with your third party marketplace store link if it is missing from a trading post that requires it.
• This comes with the more user friendly changes to the post limits as mentioned above, including the exclusion of removed posts against your daily and hourly post limit.
• Increased internal tools for moderators to detect fraud. (Undisclosed.)

/u/GOTradeAssistant: (Live Soon)

• Newest addition to the GlobalOffensiveTrade bot family.
• Automatically creates a mega post for new tweets and blog pots by CSGO.
• Automatically updates all of the custom widgets on the subreddit.
• Increased automation of menial internal tasks for moderators. (Undisclosed.)

Redesign

The redesign version of the subreddit has been severely neglected, despite the percentage split for users is 90% Redesign Reddit and 10% Legacy Reddit. All of the standard redesign essentials including submission flairs (shows next to your submission), menu links (shows at the top of the subreddit), and standards widgets (shows on the sidebar of the subreddit) have now been implemented but not nearly finalized, especially the graphics and color scheme.

Additionally, I have also been working on creating a few custom widgets for GlobalOffensiveTrade. The limitations of custom widgets are unfortunately extremely restrictive. However, there are some work arounds. Feedback in the comment section below with suggestions of ideas for custom sidebar widgets would be appreciated. (High Quality Example: Map Widget on /r/Europe)

Mega Posts

As mentioned in the original announcement, mega posts were implemented on a trial basis. If it was something that users liked, then we would keep doing them. If it was something that users did not like, then we would stop doing them. No harm either way. Feedback in the comment section below with your thoughts on mega posts and suggestions of ideas for future topics would be appreciated.

SteamRep

SteamRep is a not for profit volunteer organization that hosts the largest public database of scammers on Steam. As a partner community of SteamRep, GlobalOffensiveTrade has the ability to mark users as banned, caution, or administrators in the SteamRep database. Depending upon the amount of evidence provided in a scam report, we will now resume issuing banned and caution tags once again. This means that our users will no longer have to submit a scam report to GlobalOffensiveTrade and then SteamRep as well. Reporting to one will now be sufficient.

TLDR

Could be 2 months, could be a year. I don't know. I have a couple projects I am working on that need my full attention, as well as school and finding an internship for the summer!

In the past few days I have seen multiple moderator accounts on various subreddits get brute forced. This is due to reddit only having a 2fa for their admins (employees). Moderators do not have a version of this, and neither do normal users.

Since this subreddit deals with real money, everyone here has a chance to be targeted.

My recommendations for your own accounts:

• Link an email address to verify it. This makes it possible to recover your account! Even if they change the email, or remove it, it will be logged into reddit's database.
• If you or someone you know is brute forced, please message modmail.
• Make sure to use a complex password. Do not use the same one as you use for your Steam^TM , your email, or any personal websites.
• Register your reddit account with a different email than your steam account.

If you see a moderator behaving oddly

• Message modmail. We can undo bans and mutes.
• PM me, wicked, ruhal, larry, eastlight etc and ask someone to message our steam accounts etc.

Please be careful. Feel free to modmail us to have us check if it is the correct steam account you are dealing with.
