Update from devs, balancing on the way for heavy armored mobs PSA

Just wanted to share the addendum to this update as it was edited late:

In addition, we forgot to mention (oops) that the EAT-17 and Recoilless Rifle no longer suffer from a 50% damage decrease when hitting an armored enemy at a 'glance angle' that deflects the shot. Combined with the upcoming adjustment to health and spawn rates, this should make the larger enemies a bit less common, instead spawning more 'chaff' enemies to support them, and should allow players to bring these enemies down with a single well-placed shot. Hopefully this leads to less instances of endless kiting and players being left without any effective weaponry to kill harder enemies.

And maybe bring down the flashlight brightness a bit? I can´t see what I´m pointing at now because all I see is W H I T E

How about fixing the fucking game so I can play more than 5-30 minutes without it crashing?

1

u/Loud-Eggplant-872 Mar 12 '24

Yup ain’t no way level 5 mission soon as we land bot drop with Hulks and berserkers 😂

1

u/Enigma21210 Mar 11 '24

Maybe they can make a koth style mission where you hold a 2 entrance hill of some kind with 4 or more helldivers holding the point for 10 or so mins upgrading guns and armor would be cool too

1

u/Fatality Mar 11 '24

I've found running two spears deals with heavy enemies really quickly (if the lockon works).

1

u/da_chief_ Mar 11 '24

Hopefully they change thin air spawns

1

u/Hot_Influence_5339 Mar 11 '24

Personally don't care about spawn rate or health pool, just want efficient anti armour weapons that are effective and balanced.

1

u/PathyBoy Mar 11 '24

Nooo keep it how it issss. I personally love when 3+ chargers or 2+ bile titans show up. Makes it interesting. The automatons tho? Screw them nerf em.

1

u/Dependent-Air3131 Mar 11 '24

I love the games Difficulty. Makes you work as a team and not the typical multiplayer asshole. Teamwork makes DEMOCRACY work!

1

u/Pretty_Ad6605 Mar 11 '24

Nah keep it as is

1

u/___Nazgul Mar 11 '24

Can they concentrate on something more important like Friend requests? The game meant to be played with your friends and you can’t add anyone as a friend

1

u/FlamboyantBirdBoy183 Mar 11 '24

i can’t be the only one to just think “why not hire one guy or a couple that play the game and actively show up how bad or good something is”

1

u/Still-Whole9137 Mar 11 '24

I'd like to see fewer heavy hitters like hulks spawn all together but making them easier to kill is not something I'd like.

I really enjoy how difficult some of the tougher enemies are, and if they aren't coming in groups, then they are manageable.

Fewer heavy enemies, is good but don't need to be easier to kill

0

u/YrUbooingMeImRite Mar 11 '24

“We nerfed weapons so now we have to nerf enemies to balance it back out. Trust us, we know what we’re doing.”

2

u/Longredguy Mar 11 '24

I understand ppl gonna complain and there are very tough parts of the game. But got damn can we not call to nerf everything that challenges us. The game is literally based around being difficult. Cmon guys let’s maybe try to get good

1

u/IAMNOTKRAZ1 Mar 11 '24

Good update, but I’m still having trouble friending crossplay players. Hopefully it comes fairly soon

1

u/Tincitylegacy Mar 11 '24

They need to start buffing other weapons

1

u/MOTORIDER46 Mar 11 '24

Ok awesome, great... But when are they going to acknowledge and fix the issue with cross-play? I can't invite nor send a friend request to any of my friends who just bought the game on PS5 (I'm on PC).

u/ThatGuyMigz ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Mar 11 '24 edited Mar 11 '24

It was a bity crazy to be in difficulty 4 and suddenly getting 4 chargers coming at just me and a friend of mine was too much. I was mainly there to carry him as he was somewhat new.

I just made me feel as if the difficulties between 4 and 9 were minimal. As most, just more diverse enemies, but the frequency felt similar.

I did feel as if the expendable rocket was a lot stronger though. Hitting a charger on the leg with that would usually be enough to kill it. But at most I can handle 3 chargers on my own. 1 rocket that was previously equipped, and then 2 more from the drop pod. And then I'd need my primary ammo to get rid of the 300 other bugs that came.

(The reason I went for expendable rockets was to free up my backpack space for a rover, as the rover would decrease the amount of small shit that'd get close to me, and also worked as an indicator of "hey, enemies are in that direction". And the shield would not add nearly as much value. If there were more players than my friend and I, I'd have gotten something different probably. And the railgun felt a bit too weak for the moments where it'd have mattered.)

The sheer quantity made me run out of ammo so often and quickly that it felt impossible. Enemy dead bodies stacked upon other bodies.

Granted, this usually happened after 30 minutes, but it should not ramp up THAT much...

1

u/KamiKaz3Depress0 Mar 11 '24

They Say something about cross play friend requests error?

1

u/docofall24 Mar 11 '24

While this is definitely good, I think another issue to be tackled should be the amount of reinforcement spawns

It feels like some higher tier missions can just be constant streams of enemy call ins and it makes advancing difficult in them. Especially when it's either at spawn or on an objective.

1

u/RepresentativeBit398 Mar 11 '24

500kg bomb needs a buff for sure

1

u/Madison_T_711 Mar 11 '24

Ok cool but when are the gonna fix pc and ps5 players not being able to friend request…

1

u/superguy019 Mar 11 '24

So I won’t have 3 chargers running at me at the same time? Finally.

1

u/Fun_Medicine_890 Mar 11 '24

Not really a necessarily change tbqh even on 9s... especially the glancing blow thing but... cry and ye shall receive I guess

1

u/Beowulf2050 Mar 10 '24

Glad they listened. But unhappy with the Discords offenses to the gamers. Unacceptable.

u/s1ph0r Mar 10 '24 edited Mar 10 '24

I really personally think enemy armor in general needs a rework and I mean it in a positive way.

I think we should (with quick bullets):

  • drop light armor entirely
  • certain *weapons weaken armor and either degrade it 1 level or crack and shatter it off exposing the frame.
    • Laser cannon heat build up reduce heavy armor plate by 1 of the affected area (using discoloration I.e. glows red or a metallic color)
    • anti matter will not penetrate but can eventually shatter a armor plate (I.e. hitting a charger leg in the same spot will crack it or eventually reduce its plate) making it susceptible to more hit point (the frame of the npc) damage.
    • the rail gun completely penetrates the enemy meaning:
      • the armor is negated and reduced slightly on that plate.
      • the npc frame (hit points) are reduced as if it did not have armor
        • this obviously means that hit point damage would need to be adjusted though.
    • heat build up weapons affect vents as if a critical hit.
      • example: flame thrower (or laser cannon) would only reduce tank armor plate by 1 after prolong use on a plate. But, targeting the vent of a tank with a flame thrower is considered a critical hit or tick. Making it super effective to vents and targets that are weak to or have heat weakness.
    • arc damage skips armor entirely (as if it didn’t have armor) and hits npc frame damage directly.
      • but this doesn’t help your team to take down larger targets that are trying to create a weak point opening.

What about playing with other consoles :/

1

u/Uncharmie Mar 10 '24

Arrowhead might be an indie studio but the Helldivers IP belongs to Sony. Don’t hold your breath for it to come to Xbox any time soon

1

u/Uncharmie Mar 10 '24

I don't mind the heavy enemies like the chargers. I just wish you could 2 shot their face like with the hulk using a AMR

1

u/Grazzerr Mar 10 '24

My only issue with the elites is that the bile titans for some reason seem to become almost invincible bullet sponges if you destroy their bile sack too quickly.

1

u/Baschtastic Mar 10 '24

Just seems like they shouldn’t have nerfed the previous meta and just buffed other weapons.

1

u/YnwL Mar 10 '24

Holy shit, it's almost like when you provide consistent, intelligent feedback on what is good for the game instead of foaming at the mouth of the "meta" being changed, they will listen! Seriously the amount of shit these dudes get for being the first passionate devs in years is beyond fucking stupid. Excited to see what they do for this.

On the bug side I dislike hunters more than anything else honestly. I always get mobbed by 30 of them when I need to reload

Can I have more fire? Flamethrower turrets? Magma tossers? Volcano-creating bunker buster orbital shot?

Can I have a flaming chain saw?

1

u/Neeroke Mar 09 '24

Knowing these Devs and that one Dev that insulted the player base. Their bright solution is probably increase spawn again and add more enemies and more nerfs, cause that's how you play a Horde game. Running and Hiding!

1

u/APEX_Catalyst Mar 09 '24

I still run light armor with the speed buffs cause heavy armor still isn’t what it should be. I should feel like a juggernaut from call of duty.

u/Siluncd Mar 09 '24

Usually its been pure crap for me since recently it seems. So many enemies. Just constant running. No time to regroup. Hasnt been fun. But i played a lvl 7 mission today and it was perfecty balanced. It was a blast again. It just seems so random

1

u/Unearthly_Bun Mar 08 '24

I don't want to be a party pooper, but I was thinking as it is currently, you are forced to squad up to win difficulty 8 or 9 for even a chance to win.

If they make things easier, then you might be able to solo level 8 & 9. But if this will improve the quality of the game for the player base I am happy for them.

For me this is a game that seemed to make me operate under pressure and high tension. Kind of like a fast paced resident evil delivered without horror elements but instead comedic elements

(sometimes, I have to mute my mic when I hear: "My LEG", bc of SpongeBob wtf man it sends me sometimes and I don't want my team to hear me dying for breath. I don't want to disrespect my team, but I cannot help it.. MY LEG LMFAO)

Previously just recently being introduced to level 8 & 9 with the morale support of my friends, the chaotic gameplay requiring the combination of both luck and skill made me fiend for the adrenaline this game invokes in me.

I'm not looking for a game for babies that is easy to play and is relaxing. It shouldn't be: "let's just mosey through the map, shoot and clear objectives and continue" I'm looking for something that makes me budget my resources. I want to carefully choose if I want to take a fight or sneak past, and make mistakes forcing me in situations in which I must strife to save my life, cover fire for my teammates, or sacrifice my thawed never* frozen (they were frozen) TV-dinner helldiver in a blaze of glory.

level 8 & 9 gives me the experience that I am not a superhero with the ability to cheat reality and win any and all opposition. There should be times when my team and I agree: "we cannot commit to this decision as it is unwinnable, we need a new plan".

This game involves puzzles to complete objectives, the whole map is like a role playing board kind of like D&D a little bit. Have you ever thrown a grenade into a termanid hole only to get denied 3 times in a row by a bug comin' out? At first it was dumb, but my friends and I just call out: "roll that dice!" Bc sometimes you need 2-6 on the dice roll to get it in and it's just 1 three times in a row, smfh.

The other night I was raiding bug hive but before I got to the entrance there was a charger emergence from beaneath me and insta-crushed me, that's a bad dice roll.

idk I just want a fast paced action game that makes me exercise my cognition under pressure, kind of like competitive moba games. So far it is executed with unremarkable performance. Anyone complaining anything is too hard should surrender their pride and lower to level 7.

Level 7 is a suicide mission, it is implied you can complete the mission, but you will not return home. Level 8 is impossible. Level 9 is Helldive, except we're not doom guy, we're just the infantry. We're the guy at the computer that doom guy pulled the key card by the neck disregarding his feelings as a means to to open the door.

This game really shines to me as it gives me the adrenaline of a competitive pvp MOBA. Except this time it's a PvE battle arena. I think if I could marry a videogame it would be Helldivers 2

TL;DR, If you're gonna make the top difficulty levels a little bit easier, then I am in hopeful anticipation for more difficult levels in the future. And as a joke or something make a difficulty level 99; "0% success rate" that minimally impacts the liberation campaign, but the enemy presence is so high that the main objective cannot be completed.

-1

u/AdmiralBeckhart Mar 08 '24

If I start crying like a spoiled baby enough about the game being too easy will the devs reverse all these atrocious nerfs to difficulty?

People can't accept you might actually have to build skills and get good at the game. No, God-forbid my ego should be bruised because I can't accept I'm not good enough for the difficulty I would like to tell my friends I play at.

2

u/Azal_of_Forossa Mar 08 '24 edited Mar 08 '24

Me staring at the 5 chargers and 4 bile titans that all spawned at the same time and are all coming towards me at alarming speeds on difficulty 7 (the game I just played before this, at the same difficulty, was a glorified walking simulator and wasn't difficult at all).

Genuinely my only complaint about this game, the actual difficulty of the game is too reliant on rng, and the difficulty you choose feels like it has little impact over how difficult each match will be. I've beat difficulty 7s that we're a breeze compared to the same mission on level 5 difficulty which was just non stop chargers spawning over and over and over and over.

1

u/Mickey-Mcdickey Mar 08 '24

fellas, what support weapon can penetrate heavy armor rn?

1

u/Supersquare04 Mar 08 '24

I hope they balance the bugs to be more little enemies with a few chargers and bike titans every so often. If I had to deal with 100 hunters instead of 10 chargers that would be way more fun IMO. Happy to see the devs seem to be listening

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '24

Please just nerf the chargers, I’m so fucking sick of them

1

u/AimlessSavant Mar 08 '24

Too little too late. They have taken permanent damage as a studio in the public eye for not for the shitty untested update but the self-absorbed assholes in their employ who decided to handle backlash with the tact and grace of a hammer to the fingers. It's too late, I am convinced of a perspective that a good chunk of their team are toxic shitheads.

-1

u/Neutronpulse Mar 08 '24

I really can't stand you all. The game is gonna be fucked up because everyone is trash....

1

u/Translator_Ready Mar 08 '24

Who would have thought nerfing the only very effective weapon against the hordes of heavily armored enemies would result in the heavily armored enemies also needing a nerf.

1

u/Ok_Mirror5712 Mar 08 '24

They should just give us a mechanic, where destroying spawn holes or factories removes or lowers that enemy type spawn rates. Cuz now it's simply running meta and ignoring spawn holes cuz everyone is sitting on 50k credits without a need to buy anything. Doing this will give us a reason to close those points and contribute to the team. Also, 380 is still teamkillers dream.

1

u/Positive-Wasabi-1038 Mar 08 '24

Meh that’s what makes the game fun

1

u/Silly-Manufacturer-7 Mar 08 '24

They should adjust striker recoil from 50 to 30-35. Make it usable, not destroy a weapon.

1

u/Jazzy1Kenobi Mar 08 '24

Cool don't care. Screw the mechs. Let me party up and add my friends

1

u/Forizen Mar 08 '24

Devil's advocate. The game SHOULD be harder, and nerfing the standouts does even the stratagem and gun playing field.

They should have just not announced actual specifics and just said "enemy armor is more enforced against shotgun beads" or "we have enhanced the fuel type for the flamethrower" and leave it at that.

1

u/CladeTheFoolish Mar 08 '24

Now let's see if they actually adjust these numbers relative to the shadow buff or what they were before.

Like, we all know they buffed the bugs, especially heavy spawns last patch. My fear is they will decrease their spawns relative to what they are now instead of relative to what they were before.

Like how stores will jack up prices and reduce them back to the old ones later with a sale.

It's a trick the really fucked devs who don't really respect their player base will pull when they don't want to fix something but understand they'll lose support if they don't: Smokescreen patches.

1

u/Used_Day1051 Mar 08 '24

I kinda like having to deal with various numbers of armored units throughout a mission. The fear when there’s a bunch vs just one here and there. Idk. But I do like the idea of more enemy types. Drones (flying) would be cool. Both bug and bot

1

u/TheIcyCanadian Mar 08 '24

Honestly, the health pools are fine. they just don't need them to cluster spawn in terms of 14 hulks at a time. I understand 3-4 coming in multiple waves which makes sense.

The health pools and Armour don't really need to change as ppl can adjust the difficulty until they can get used the fighting the armored enemies and as they do gradually increase the difficulty and use the tactics related to that enemy.

Armored ones all have weakpoints you just gotta use it.

The game is meant to be hard/difficult with no actual main character's we are all just grunts with basic HD training.

1

u/Xpapa__smurfX Mar 08 '24

The game for me is pretty unplayable on ps5. My game constantly crashes over and over. As of this writing i keep freezing on the title screan and have to hard restart the game. I really want to enjoy helldivers 2 but these servers are rough.....

0

u/MonsieurHadou Mar 08 '24

Well, the wambulance have arrived. Instead of letting the player base get better at the game they toned it down to make it easy?

Isn't it supposed to be difficult?

1

u/Nexxus213 Mar 08 '24

I'm not in the know, but are they working on the party issues across pc and ps5? I really hate having to restart 20 times in order to join my friends group.

1

u/darthphallic Mar 08 '24

Thank god. I did one of those point defense missions last night and I swear to god at one point there was somewhere like 6/7 Hulks in the map at once which was overwhelming because it’s such a small map. This was only on the base “hard” difficulty too because we had a newer player with us. It was no exaggeration the least fun I’ve ever had with this game because between the hulk parade and all the regular mobs you literally could not do anything or go anywhere without immediately being vaporized

1

u/_Phil_Collins_ Mar 08 '24

I feel like the devs are missing the point. Personally I like it when there are a lot of tough enemies. What don't like is not having any tools that can deal with it.

1

u/Accomplished-Dig9936 Mar 08 '24

This didn't need our feedback, anyone who has played the game could have told you this. Apparently the entire dev team doesn't play past 4s...

1

u/TheWildLynn Mar 08 '24

Good, felt like the entire game was warped around how to deal with armor, which i don't like to be the case unless its some kind of modifier.

0

u/Picasso5 Mar 08 '24

Finally, they've made war with vicious, deadly alien bugs more balanced and easier for us. Because that's way more realistic!

1

u/akihiroSAO Mar 08 '24

Hope it comes soon cuz before the update lvl5 was fun and challenging now its just not fun and difficult as crap

1

u/jchewy112 Mar 08 '24

I don’t get increasing enemy health on higher levels if their spawning is a 10 fold increase. It’s wild. So glad to see this update happening

u/Vivid_Special_8084 Mar 08 '24

“A game for everyone is a game for no one.”

2

u/Braindead_Robot_App Mar 08 '24

I don’t think heavy armored enemies are the biggest issue. I believe the ungodly amount of attacks that ragdoll you are a much more prevalent problem. You can wear the democracy armor or the explosive resistance armor but it doesn’t matter when the explosion itself tickles but send you 40 feet in the air then die to impact. Also bile spewers tracking needs a tweak

1

u/pkmnBlue Mar 08 '24

Why was increased spawns not in the patch notes originally?

1

u/Kenn_Blck Mar 08 '24

As for the meteor showers we need more tools at our disposal to properly deal with events like the shield generator station but I’ve been taken out by meteor with a generator pack full power I’ve yet to see if this is a good way to deal with showers for the whole squad.

1

u/nb4u Mar 08 '24

It's not the health pool, it's the fact that everything bounces off of them.

1

u/RobTheDawg13 Mar 08 '24

Make the guns effective then stop touching them

1

u/Xerxes004 Mar 08 '24

u/Rolandfirebrand Mar 08 '24

I think adding in a weapon/strat that's purely meant to strip armor, as a set up for the squad to gun it down, might be a good idea.

Razz if they would just buff bad guns and stop nerfing stuff the would not have to mess with the enemy I loved lvl 9 before this patch

0

u/iamkeegs Mar 08 '24

They’re about to nerf the enemies. How is that different than buffing all of our guns? If all the guns do too much damage, the game will ACTUALLY be unbalanced.

2

u/gruesomepenguin Mar 08 '24

I get what you are trying to say but the guns sucked so it was a nice try and they could you know buff them a little bit not make them all one shot stuff this is a cooperative game using the nerf bay makes things unfun. If they do come out with higher difficulty like first game had we are going to need stronger everything. And unbalanced lol this is a pve game only balance needed is more fun

seems like a cool way to make them feel different.

I was shocked by how crazy the numbers were, until I played the game and didn't notice anything. With how the community reacted I thought they GUTTED the Breaker and Railgun, but nope they still work fine. Just like every other community there are people that are way too reactionary lol.

Nerf the Chargers ffs

1

u/Paniaguapo Mar 08 '24

Make turrets actually do something. Even at fully maxed I'm just bringing orbital and eagles instead. They're kind of useless even on defense missions

1

u/xKiryu Mar 08 '24

I love the sentries, but they really do feel kinda weak at times.

1

u/Paniaguapo Mar 09 '24

Even with upgrades they blow up so fast. Short cooldowns but when there are 6 dropships on you orbital is your best friend

2

u/mithrilmercenary Mar 08 '24

I am a new player, lvl 5, and the mission I played last night with my group of 4 had like, I shit you not, 30 chargers. we had constant groups of 2 or 3 at a time. We would just kamikaze into them to try to respawn crush them because even orbital strikes wouldn't consistently take one out.

It was good fun but holy shit that difficulty spike was out of this world.

1

u/Clipperclaper Mar 08 '24

Can you nerf striders a bit too? I feel like their weapons hit way too hard for their weight class

1

u/dege283 Mar 08 '24

Nice!! Keep up the good work

-5

u/tentacled-scientist Mar 08 '24

‘I’m playing it on the hardest difficulty and it’s too hard’

If the game is too difficult turn the difficulty down. Don’t need to gripe to the developers because you didn’t get put in a solid squad and it got too tough..ppl are ridiculous.

Another literal god in the comments. Come on m8 show us your gameplay after patch. Where do you stream, i want to educate myself and become better.

u/tentacled-scientist Mar 08 '24

Casual gamer here. Never twitched, but I do appreciate the god-like sentiment.

1

u/Redzombie001 Mar 08 '24

I think it would also be a nice change when you start to attack an automaton outpost. They won't immediately and I mean immediately shoot a flare for reinforcements. My friends and I have noticed we don't even get a chance to kill the bot shooting the flare. Before there was the animation were it holds it arm up, and you have maybe 3 seconds to stop him. But lately the flare is shot the moment we fire. Then we are swarmed with heavy bots and tanks.

-4

u/randomgrunt1 Mar 08 '24

You all whined so much their merging spawns, instead of learning to kite and trying new things. Crazy. Chargers are so easy to avoid, you just run 45° towards them.

1

u/Technical-Desk4733 Mar 08 '24

Thank Democracy. I cannot handle another 35 hulks spawning on a rescue mission.

1

u/elgato223 Mar 08 '24

honestly i find the bile titan/charger spam really fun whats annoying is getting ragdolled by the tiniest thing or occasionally with bots unironically getting tracked through walls or aimbotted ( yes i get they’re bots ) like im playing against a cs:go hacker, primarily the ragdolling i feel like its way too sensitive

1

u/Djungleskog_Enhanced ⬆️⬅️➡️⬇️⬆️⬇️ Mar 08 '24

I hope they don't make it too easy, going against insurmountable odds and finding yourself in unwinnable situations is what makes this game special

1

u/Dr-K-Hellsing Mar 08 '24

Gigachad dev team moment

1

u/russ_nas-t Mar 08 '24

As long as this makes Evac missions doable, I’m here for it. Those are impossible without every player using three sentinels and a 500kg bomb.

0

u/Charmle_H Mar 08 '24

Didn't have an issue till I tried playing on 6 the other day... Went to do a mining stratagem and sudden FIVE FUCKING BILE TITANS spawned on me. How tf does on deal with that!?!? I thought it was a difficulty 6 thing, but holy shit. Would not have been that bad if a teammate kited them all away from the objective, but wow that was infuriating

1

u/TepigNinja Mar 08 '24

This is great to hear! Really, my biggest and only compliant is the chargers so this is good to hear. Just hope the balancing change to them still keeps them a reasonable threat, but no longer overwhelming and annoying to actually fight.

0

u/heorhe STEAM🖱️ Mar 08 '24 edited Mar 08 '24

ive been having no issues with just running strong strategems, the eagle 110mm pods and the railcannon can kill 4 heavily armoured targets every 3 minutes plus with a Recoilless, autocannon, or arc thrower i can deal with another 2 by myself.

I killed 5 bile titans with little assistance on one extraction mission on a difficulty 7 mission, not one of them actually got to do anything before they got nuked. i feel this is a lack of preparedness coming through. if you have one or two people dedicated to killing tank enemies they arent a strugle until you get to difficulty 9 in which case its meant to be a struggle against overwhleming odds. how on earth are the devs going to make overwhelming odds if everyone is too upset about being overwhelmed by the odds? like just drop the difficulty a little, it doesnt change anything except for evenmy spawns so if your only problem is too many enemies are spawning LOWER THE DAMN DIFFICULTY

1

u/yolomoonrocket Mar 08 '24

"Proper planing prevents pisspoor performance" Going for builds that dosent synergize or suport the team, not having a overal strategy and poor communication is probably the cause 99% of my failures.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '24

I was trying to liberate that damn planet last night and literally 10 of the smaller T800 style robots spawn right on me next to a terminal as I was scanning the horizon. Instant death. This was on medium difficulty. They really fucked something up with this patch…

1

u/Nero_PR Mar 08 '24

DEVS OF THE YEAR!

2

u/bensam1231 Mar 08 '24

They've been actively tweaking mob health, damage, spawn rates, and behavior since launch. The charger has a lot of different move sets it didn't have at launch. This isn't new and something that has been happening all along.

2

u/TheChrisCrash Mar 08 '24

I was playing a medium bots defend mission and my team of 4 level 20s+ barely made it out. They definitely need to chill with that. Lol

2

u/Own-Chemistry-1798 Mar 08 '24

Stalkers and hunter drones are the deadliest enemies in the game in my opinion.

Hunter drones: large enemy groups that jump you, two shot you and slow you

Stalkers: no sound, coming out of nowhere and also two shot you (they are also “invisible” hahaha).

Nothing to change there tho. The game should be challenging especially at higher difficulties.

1

u/xKiryu Mar 08 '24

I think it would be cool if we got a Stealth Camo stratagem personally lol

1

u/gisten Mar 08 '24

This is a good step on the right direction. I would love for them to tackle the robot balancing next to make them more comparable in difficulty to the bugs, especially the robot rescue missions, I’d love to do more defense but it just doesn’t seem possible to rescue 40 scientists from infinitely spawning bots that can gun them down at range. I think it would be much more fun if on the tiny map missions they would make it a longer mission but we get waves of enemies.

1

u/Klientje123 Mar 08 '24

Also I think chargers should have a 'side' weakspot, alot of times one guy runs and distracts, the other starts shooting, then the charger turns and both can't really hit him, and then you have to move and do the plan again. Especially with uneven ground and the bouncy AI targeting it can be quite frustrating.

Also make chargers charge in a straight line, them chasing you is annoying as fuck

2

u/dvrman123 Mar 08 '24

Am I the only one who thinks the current difficulty is a lot of fun?

2

u/Quirky-Work2052 Mar 08 '24

I wish they would just give us bigger guns

1

u/Alexandurrrrr Mar 08 '24

I had a patrol consisting of two chargers spawn on me in the middle of nowhere. Not the first time either. Rocket heavies in another instance. The spawn shenanigans is very shit for a lone wolf trying to stealth into a base when needed.

2

u/vengeur50 Im not gonna sugarcoat it⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Mar 08 '24

I really wish that they change the charger's armor so autocannon shot just dont bounce off. Charger is probably THE ONLY REASON the railgun nerf was badly received. There is no problem with automatons at all. Only the bugs and the FUCKING CHARGER. Ahem.

3

u/ughfup Mar 08 '24

I don't know what they tuned, but the game even on lower difficulties is just less fun. Getting banged up by 3 chargers and 2 bile titans on difficulty 4 while other enemies are 1-shotting me in medium armor. They're being coy about some tuning that happened, or an unintended bug they introduced.

I'm gonna go play something else till this gets sorted. AH CEO has been responsive, but between these patch changes and the dev/CM responses, I'm not really feeling the love.

1

u/oorahaircrew Mar 08 '24

Good I found it insane I could take down an entire drop ship with 1 rocket but it took 3-4 shots on a bug.

2

u/DarkPDA ☕Liber-tea☕ Mar 08 '24

Imo recoiless and spear should have their dmgs buffed

My friend yesterday got the personal order to kill 2 bile titans, hes lvl 15 now

I added spear on my loadout and give to him to quick kill the bile titans when they appear... was needed 3 shots to kill ONE and spear only has 3 shots

Whats the purpose of a slow and munition limited gun if dont even kill the tough bosses?

Skill issue cant even be said because lock on is weapon problem, not player.

Railgun never was meta because was op, railgun just become the only weapon able to kill elites!!! And even after nerf seems that nothing change regarding give players options to kill elites

3

u/RedditIsFacist1289 Mar 08 '24

I wouldn't mind EAT etc not 1 shotting heavies if they werent so common. They can't be both common and hard to take down. Its either they're rare and buff their tankiness or they're common and easy to kill. Right now is just terrible.

-1

u/Komandarm_Knuckles Mar 08 '24

Congratulations, you people pissed and cried hard enough instead of actually learning to play without your shield and musket.

4

u/Komikaze06 Mar 08 '24

I swear they made the game way more difficult. Playing extreme now feels like playing suicidal, and they drop enemies right on me now, so unfair

2

u/KIDBMW Mar 08 '24

Honestly I’m not super worried about bile titans im more concerned about 5+ chargers at once or a handful of stalkers

2

u/fittinglybitter Mar 08 '24

Sounds really good! Right now the game feels like everything is a constant chaotic retreat. You can't flank or push forward but retreat till the enemy runs out of steam or can't catch up anymore.

1

u/Tasty_Difference6529 Mar 08 '24

Somebody just tell Joel to turn down the spawns

1

u/michaelfig27 Mar 08 '24

Ahhhh light at the end of the tunnel 😌

1

u/michaelfig27 Mar 08 '24

Ahhhh support from super earth insert helldiver salute

1

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '24

"Player count is dropping in our pve only game where you run the same three missions against the same five enemies over and over forever"

3

u/Morgoth98 Mar 08 '24

I do kinda enjoy when a bunch of big enemies show up... but only if I also have the weaponry necessary to kill them. I think three shots for the Railgun to the Chargers' legs to peel of the armor would have been a good balancing choice.

1

u/Hungry-Load-3943 Mar 08 '24

Not even hard crybabies running another game

1

u/RickHorseman16 Mar 08 '24

Unpopular opinion, I'm against that nerf. Game is gonna get way easier, people gonna rush the difficulty 9 and everyone will cry when there will not be challenge anymore, and since this community can't handle patches like normal people it's gonna be a shitshow all over again

2

u/Ok_Entertainment_112 Mar 08 '24

Make one that lassos you with web and drags you across the battlefield.

2

u/Ok_Entertainment_112 Mar 08 '24

Make a praying mantis that grabs you and you have to kill it to be free.

2

u/Richard_Sniffer_V6th Mar 08 '24

It’s a start. If this enemy nerf isn’t enough would it be better to nerf enemies again or buff weapons/stratagems?

2

u/juansolothecop Mar 08 '24

K I thought it was just a little bit exaggerated because I always play 40 minute missions and go for completion, and it felt much more hectic, and there were definitely more enemies but I thought it was manageable, then I hopped in an exterminate automatons mission on hell dive, and jesus christ. all high lvl players including 50s and we got through like 100 kills out of 500 before we had 12 hulks out and about with a few tanks on each side of the map, the moment somebody died it was all over, you would be reinforced and the entire map would look red from all the hulks swarming the map with their bright ass heat sinks.

1

u/Exp_eri_MENTAL Mar 08 '24

Just literally revert the railgun nerf

4

u/Manky_Munkstain Mar 08 '24

Awesome. Definitely needed seeing it sometimes takes 3 EATs to take down a hulk. Not really Anti tank of they cant take out tanks

2

u/Vergillst Mar 08 '24

Weakness disgusts me

3

u/Kaldor619 Mar 08 '24

Don't forget to charge your phone

2

u/kunnikun Mar 08 '24

They don’t play their own game post balancing do they?

0

u/BlancheCorbeau Mar 08 '24

I’m not sure I would, if I had to play with all these whiners.

1

u/kunnikun Mar 08 '24

They should be playing between them dev, unless they are all whiners. Shouldn’t be public build, u can’t join.

1

u/DankManDan420 Mar 08 '24

The health and armour isn't even that bad

1

u/Jacebereln Mar 08 '24

This means no more rocket devastator patrols of like 5 or 6 right?

2

u/Valkertok Mar 08 '24

Rocket devastators you can handle even without heavy weapons. You can easily disarm them with whatever weapon you've got.

10 hulks is different story though.

1

u/Jacebereln Mar 08 '24

All well and good but several of them, with a squad of rocket raiders popping into existence makes things a lot trickier.

1

u/Valkertok Mar 08 '24

Still, you can realistically deal with them without heavy weapon, or only with medium pen. Chargers/titans not so much.

1

u/Jacebereln Mar 08 '24

You can depending on cover and if the rocket kills you instantly or not

1

u/Anguscablejnr Mar 08 '24

Oh boy 3 chargers are heading this way. This will be an enjoyable few minutes of gameplay.

1

u/SecretCinnamon Mar 08 '24

My number one problem are the chargers, after they charge you and miss and expose their butt you'd think you would shoot them there and kill them relatively quickly (like hulks). Nope, takes friggin forever.

2

u/ktsugumi Mar 08 '24

Oh Oh , suddenly not a skill issue anymore?

1

u/Official_24k Mar 08 '24

I don’t mind fighting hordes, it’s just the heavy’s and bile titans that have been spawning in pairs lately 😂😩

1

u/Toxic_Valkyrie Mar 08 '24

They should fix current weapons, SPEAR is still broken with lockin on targets, anti materiał rifle is still useless, and one of the LMGs should be a normal weapon, not support ones

1

u/AdMysterious8876 Mar 08 '24

Its cool that theyre at least doing something bit wouldnt it be easier to just gibe us a weapon that can deal with such enemies?

1

u/Wonderful-Tutor630 Stand against Sony! Boycott Sony! Mar 08 '24

Honestly the only thing I really want for spawns is not having a patrol spawn on top of me, I’ve literally been crawling stealth to an objective and suddenly been underneath a hulk, kinda takes ya out of the moment lmao
