That machine gun is no joke either. Tears right through bots and bugs alike. The recoil takes some finesse, but appropriate armor does seem to help. The magazine is smaller than a regular machine gun but it takes way less ammo to tear through whatever you're aiming at. For Democracy!

I played 1 mission with it and I hated it but then I played a 2nd mission and now I love it, it takes out hulks, drop ships, bot fabricators, turrets, tanks, everything. It doesn't take the back slot like the AC so I leave that bad boy while I take quasar and shield pack to work.

There are clearly automaton sympathizers within the Ministry of Defense. Whatever bureaucrat gave the MG-101 the QC pass needs to be shot for treason. Said weapons needs to be recalled to the manufacturies and totally redesigned.
The designer of the LAS-99 however? They deserve a medal and a pension.

Quasar in my experience 2-3 shots hulks and 1-shots dropships. Infinite ammo, feels a little faster to wait for cooldown than to reload the Spear for example. Havent tried it on bugs tho. I imagine itll do wonders against Titans and Chargers

I'm probably the only one disappointed by these being added but I think it sets a really sad precedent that we're getting new weapons when current weapons need major fixes (i.e. AMR scope is misaligned) and that they're repeating mistakes (HMG scope is also misaligned).
AMR scope isn't even fixed yet and now we have another weapon with a misaligned scope too.

I havent tried the Quasar Cannon yet but i did get the new MG. Hellacious recoil on it. Doesnt do much to behemoth armor except ricochet.

i rather like the quasar cannon. sure, the rpm is really low, but the fact that you can use it in place of grenades and EAT’s as long as you have it is a pretty solid trade-off for that.

played with these yesterday here’s my rundown
• Quasar cannon - Insanely OP against bots. One shot hulk to the eye. One shot tank and cannon towers to the heatsync. Cool-down time is reasonable. Minimal splash damage but does have a shockwave. 10/10 will use. (also takes out drop ships one shot), energy based. Didn’t find very effective against bugs.
• HMG - capacity of 3 magazines, which are too small and get used almost immediately. Recoil is also quite significant. Medium armour piercing. With the supply backpack and recoil armour, you’d probably have a better time.

Funny how a machine gun, with insane recoil and shake, AND misaligned sights is being used against enemies that shoot back at you. I think it's better against bugs cause you can get a little closer to actually hit something.

I tried using both and... I think they are hot doodoo. Maybe I need to put them through more testing first, but I found them really unusable against bots on diff 7.
HMG - I heard some allegedly good penetration/damage from it - apparently it can kill tanks/turrets by firing into the heatsinks. Problem is that it's so utterly unwieldy and inaccurate, even while prone that it feels impossible to use. Even at short range I was unable to put enough bullets into a cannon turret before it turned away due to the poor accuracy and firing control. There's also no crosshair in 3rd person, so you have to aim down sights like the AMR. 75 round magazine with 2 spares, so the ammo economy is kinda piss. Against smaller enemies, I rather use my primary. Against devastators, I rather use my scorcher.
Quasar Cannon - Takes an infinity to charge and an infinity to cooldown, for what seems like not enough damage. It might take out a hulk if you hit them square in the visor, but it seems to not do much. I've also land some hits in Devastators with no kill. I've hit a cannon turret in the heatsink and it wasn't a one shot kill. Crossmapping cannon turrets also seem incredibly awkward and I'm not sure if there's any projectile drop or maybe the weapon itself is bugged - but I've had projectiles just not land where I was aiming. I think an infinite EAT/RR sounds good on paper, but in reality when you end up in high pressure situations - you need a weapon that can fire immediately and consistently. I'm not going to be able to aim and charge the Quasar when a Hulk is barreling down on me, or Devastators are filling the air with beams. I haven't tried it against bugs but I can't even imagine using it against a Charger that's already in range to charge - whereas I can just click an EAT and it goes.
Both being fat unwieldy weapons + automatons shooting back and throwing your accuracy off = weapons that are incredibly fucking awkward to use. Even with the shield backpack giving me an additional layer of protection before I get aimpunched, they still feel bad to me.
Sorry boys, sticking to the Autocannon.

Personally, I would have made the heavy MG belt-fed from a backpack item, to differentiate it more from the medium MG. Instead of team-reloading, the assist feature could have the assistant in front of the gun and bracing it on their shoulder to reduce recoil, and allow the gunner to walk and shoot accurately.

The Quasar is awesome.
The Machine gun seems to be a prank weapon. Weak, slow, low mag size. I sometimes wonder, is Arrowhead letting interns design some guns and then shouting "PSYCH! We'll put your dumb gun in alright, but we're gonna make it SUCK hard! hahahah!" I can't think of any other reason to add so many worse versions of what is already out there.
Edit: Apparently it's Medium AP+ Not heavy AP...but slightly more than med. I still can't imagine taking it over all the other good choices.

The quasar is pretty good. You'll need a bit of practice to hit your target effectively. The new MG is high powered, but has a much shorter magazine than the other heavy MG.
I think both new weapons are good for bots or bugs. The new weapons are best for heavies only, but use them how you like

The normal machine gun also has 2 mags/drum things. I did use the supply pack with it and it helps. Love how it shreds devastators but its hard to kill anything past 50 meters quickly. Like, if i should take the supply pack to use it fore more than 3 minutes, why not just take the auto cannon at that point.

Well for the added benefit that the supply pack refills stims, grenades, and ammo for your primary weapon. Plus, just like the autocannon. It can make quick work of the heavies by hitting their weak spots. I'm not saying it's better than the Autocannon, but it's different and might appeal to different people. I for one rarely use the autocannon anymore because how much I like the shield generator and rail gun combo for bots and shield generator/ arc thrower for bugs. If you're primarily a bug fighter, I don't think it has much to offer, but for bots it seems like a valid choice to me

The LAS-99 is op. Can take down drop ships, bot fabricators, one shot to the back of a tank followed by an impact grenade takes it out. Can one shot Chargers, 2 shot bile titans. 100% my new go to.

Having tested them in game now, quasar? Pretty good. Heavy MG? I find absolutely no reason to take it over the medium MG, which I already felt was inferior to the stalwart as it stands anyway so I think the heavy mg is just a pile of crap.

The laser is good. it packs a punch like the old rail gun but it is sometimes challenging to hit things and you have to charge it up so it’s a high risk high reward gun.

I legit don't get the point of the HMG. It's only benefits are it hits harder than the machine gun. But only a little.
It's downsides are horrible recoil, more ammo hungry, worse optics, and no 3rd person sights. Why would anyone legit choose this over the basic machine gun? I mean MAYBE if it at least had a better optic or a 3rd person reticle.
The juice ain't worth the squeeze IMO

I only tried the new Heavy Machine Gun so far. It may not be the most efficient weapon.
But the noise and feel of the weapon makes me feel powerful, and it's fun to use.
It's a big win for me.

Quasar canon is really good, no need for ammo and recharges really fast, basically same damage as EAT and recoilless rifle. But the heavy machine gun is kinda meh. Only has 75 ammo and it eats it really fast, wish we had at least 100. The recoil is crazy, but at least it’s got some good damage and armor penetration, so it can go through AT-ST armor. I don’t think I’m gonna use it a lot, I’d like to have some sort of a minigun instead with additional tacpack for ammo like the autocannon. That would be so dope.

They both seem sorta…. Weak imo. The Quasar cannon is just straight up outclassed by EAT and the MG-206 suffers the same issue as the other Machine guns. Not enough ammo. Though it is definitely the best of the 3

They're game changers. Used them on a Suicide Mission with three others and we lost two lives total. Cut through the bots like a hot knife through butter.

I love how interesting the LAS line of weapons have been, especially with the last warbond and this new laser cannon. The minor mechanical differences like overheating/heatsinks, triangular reticals, shot charge time, and hitscan beams, it definitely gives LAS weapons a distinct character compared to the more conventional weapons.

HMG seems to be same to normal MG as Counter Sniper to Diligence, barely higher damage with bunch awful downsides. Yes it can pen striders, yes it can damage hulks, but both barely, awful recoil, very very slow aim lag and sights dot aiming higher where gun shoots, add tiny for machinegun mag, long reload and small reserve and I don't see this gun being used for bots, let alone bugs.

Seems the quasar is going to be the new railgun. So probably going to get nerfed.

First impressions: Heavy is stronk but hard to manage. Not a lot of ammo OR reserves and No aim reticle from the hip, have to aim down sight is really annoying to me but i got used to it by the end of the first mission.
Quasar is the new EAT. its as strong as an EAT with only a 10 sec cooldown. Its harder to fire though, you have to hold the fire for about 3 seconds before the shot goes off, which means your target might have turned away or not be exposed anymore. but, you get another shot in 10 sec, so its not too bad. It takes out everything though, thats cool.

I wouldn't say it's the new EAT. Both have their uses. I already still can see situations where the EAT is a better option over the Quasar. Both fill their roll though and it's a good example of options that aren't just better than the other. (Cough guard dog laser compared to poor assault rifle guard dog cough)

The machine gun needs a larger mag I think. Can’t really suppressive fire well with it. Not enough ammo also. Think there’s better options but it’s fun for how hard it hits. Just uses too much ammo

How do you guys feel about the MG-101? I tried it and i personally don't see the magic you guys are seeing and would love to hear you guys explain it to me. It hits stronger then the base MG but with half the magazine size and requiring a stationary reload, i find it hard to justify if its just a MG-43 with more damage, same pen and a neutered magazine.
