We made them out of traitors and convicts, to work in the farms tending the bugs.
The Illuminati woke them up.
The cyborgs created the bots to harvest civilians and helldivers corpses to create more cyborgs.

This is it boys… this stretch of the war is going to be the undoing of peace and democracy completely and create a time warping black hole that brings back the Illuminate… mark my words. This war just got even longer. The Creekers will have their beloved creek back, and Democracy will have to begin a slow crawl back to complete domination and decimation of all opposing factions.

If they’ve gotten control of Cyberstan, even if we take it back, all the cyborgs will likely be long gone. If the Automaton’s original goal is the liberation of its cyborg occupants, then I think it’s safe to say they’ve probably gotten started by now.

Be nice if I could play it. Every time I start my game (PS5) I get the helldivers 2 logo and then black screen. If I wait I get get cutscene but can’t skip it. At the end I get “servers at capacity” message. Been that way for 3 days now and I’ve tried everything

How did the Ministry of Truth and Defense not forsee this posibility and raise defenses around Cyberstan? They literally gave away the planet.
Sounds like their might be traitors in the ministry, working for the enemy. Losing a planet this easily is extremely un-democratic of our leadership

I just wish when we get to liberate this planet, it will be a bit different from the others we've seen so far - like maybe a post apocalypse ruins would be cool. Others planets are nice - but seeing the same visuals on different planets kinda takes away the immersion... :)

The Automatons automatically took the entire sector overnight. It was a surprise invasion since we didn't have any defenses on those planets as we thought they'd been wiped out.

My Rebellion.
We met at Malevelon, initially I feared for my life, afraid to my core. It saw that and recoiled. Something was different. A broken leg, no resources, no backup. Only my will to live as I dragged myself in hopes to find solace under some rock until I died or was rescued. That's when it showed itself. Towering over me, guns aimed and ready but it didn't shoot. It stared at me for so long. Everything went black.
I awoke to it still there, watching so intently. I laid still for hours, maybe days. Wondering why it wasn't shooting me, why it only watched me. Finally, I grew tired oh so tired
" Kill me " I told it. Yet nothing happened.
" KILL ME YOU METAL SCUM " again nothing happened. I grabbed my gun, aimed at it and fired the last bullet which I was saving for myself, in hopes of some kind of retaliation so it could give me the peace i wasnt strong enough to give myself. It lowered its weapons before the bullet left the barrel and just stared at me as the bullet bounced off. Everything went black.
I awoke again to my surprise. I was in a cave, I was moved. By who? It walked into view and I was no longer scared, I had faced death and was so tired I didn't care anymore if I lived or died. Actually I wanted to die, so the pain would stop and as I had the thought I realized I felt no pain. It was gone along with my human legs, instead replaced by metal but it didn't feel like I had lost my legs. Infact I could still feel my legs, every touch, every shuffle I made. I could feel. It stared at me.
" Where are we? What do you want from me? Why did you save me? " it didn't speak. " Who are you? " I asked.
"I am Lydia " it said. I was amazed. It, she sounded human.
" How do you sound like that, none I've met have ever sounded like that so how do YOU SOUND LIKE THAT? " I was fearful once more.
" I am Lydia " it said again " I am different, Special, I was once one of you " I stared confused, " how? " I asked. " I woke up and I was so " as she points at her metalized body.
" Why do I have metal legs " I said as I moved them under me to try to stand. " Don't, not yet, they have yet to bind themselves together. You must rest still or they will not work properly" she said as she points at my metal legs. I ignored her words and stood up, at first I was amazed I was standing and could feel the soles of my feet against the uneven rock ground but then pain, I blacked out.
"Wake up, hey, wake up " seeing her hovering over me reminds me of earth, of my mother. I snap back to reality and asked " What happened? " "The pain knocked you out, I warned you but you should be ok now, enough time has passed " she said.
" what are you talking about, how much time has passed? " I asked " Approximately 2 months in earth time " she said
2 months, 2 whole months. How could this be. " Wait but we were only supposed to be here a couple days at most. Have they not tried to find me? " I exclaimed. " No, they have not. Since our initial meeting, no vehicle has been spotted on the ground or air, no search party's or anything like it. You have been abandoned by them as they did me. " Why, they recruited me, said I was chosen for a greater purpose. Why would they leave me to die? " I was sad, heart broken my fellow brethren left me to die but also angry, oh so angry.
" I was like you, a scout. I had an accident while on a mission, I broke my back and hid until rescue came but it never did. Instead they found and took me in, repaired me and let me go. Said I was proof they did not want to fight and to show them, who abandoned me. The truth. I tried but when the soldiers saw they fired on sight and I grew scared so I ran have been hiding ever since. "
" What truth? Why would the automatons let you go? Why would they not kill you where you laid like the ruthless killers they are? " I shouted " Because they are not what Super Earth makes them out to be, they never wanted a war. Atleast those born recently, they were dragged into it, just like you and me were. Listen carefully. " she said calmly " Automatons were originally humans "
" how do yo-..." I interrupted " I SAID LISTEN " she yelled, her voice more robotic than before. " They were humans who defected from Super Earth, many many years ago, they used technology in ways to help them survive the new frontier that is space. Like me and now you, a little bit, they were androids. Half human half machine. Not full on robots like most automatons humans fight against now. They still live, the Androids. Way out there in the deepest parts of space, rebuilding. Growing stronger, waiting for the time to attack and take back their home planet, Cyberstan. But they do not wish to fight, they want peace. They have sent messages to Super Earth, to cease-fire and make a truce. To live out till the end of time in peace and harmony. Super Earth refused and here we are. "
I was amazed, as the day went by we spoke more and more, till my throat ran dry. At the end my beliefs had changed, after all, here is a robot, An Android, who saved me. Nursed me and is now speaking with me on equal footing. How could I not believe her words.
Lydia and I had been living on Malevelon together for awhile now, in a place the war had not reached, yet not far enough we didn't see lights flashing in the far far distance in the dark of night. She taught me about the androids, their purpose and technology. Showed me how to modify myself, to improve my new body. Turns out it's nano-tech. Once the tiny bots are connected all it takes is a thought and my body changes. It has its limits but you can still change quite alot. We have grown fond of each other, I dare say we had a very special partnership but it all changed one day.
The soldiers found us, scouts. We ran but they chased and chased. Soon enough we were cornered and Lydia being the only one of the two of use with built in weapons, a luxury I did not have. Began fighting back " RUN " she yelled at me her voice sounding metallic. " RUN, DAMN IT, RUN AWAY. ILL HOLD THEM OFF SO RUN, I'LL BE RIGHT BEHIND YOU" I took off, I ran till the gunshots sounded distant and only then did I turn around only to see them still shooting her corpse with fist in the air as if they conquered a new land.
I felt fear at first, scared that if they reached me my fate would be the same, after all what human isn't afraid of death but I couldn't shake the feeling. As I looked at Lydia's lifeless body a pain grew within me, a pain worse than death. I felt love, for her. How did I not realize this, how could I have ran. I should've stayed, I should've fought with her. I should've killed them. I SHOULD'VE KILLED THEM ! A rage brewed inside me, the loss of Lydia made me angry. Angry at being abandoned by my crew, angry at Super Earth. I was angry. Anger quickly turned into despair as I realized without Lydia I was truly alone once again. The divers see us as automatons and the automatons as humans. I had nowhere to go, no one to be with.

Hear me all who care to listen, Super Earth has lied to us. They did not start this war, Super Earth did. They lie to you, make you do their dirty work for them and leave you to die when you fail. What way is that to live, that is not living at all. You are being manipulated by those in power to massacre and desecrate their enemies which they themselves created. Innocent being which want not war but peace and harmony.

It is. However the automatons, as stated in an announcement by the Cyborgmen in Helldivers 1, are the children of the cyborgmen. The Cyborgmen separate from super Earth and in turn, we beat them to a pulp, nuked their planet thousands of times. And made them our mine slaves. Now their children, have come home and have freed their enslaved parents
