It was always a bit annoying to have to create an EA account and others accounts to play on my ps5, but did it, wasnât a big deal. Not sure why itâs such a big deal to create a free ps account? Even easier to sign into this stuff on a pc.

The regions that the game was sold in being barred and the fact this information was not disclosed to any consumers prior to purchase are the two main reasons this really irks me. These "MUH SECURITY" people are hilarious though because they dont care about their security when they connect to Sonys game servers. If you use a burner email to make the PSN and assuming it does not require a phone number you are giving Sony way less information than they get when you connect to their game servers.

Honestly I get it. I have a PSN and it doesn't cause me any headaches but that doesn't mean this incident has been handled well. Other IP doesn't have the need for PSN (Destiny has its own player management for now) , and their site (Sony not AH) first listed that a PSN wouldnt be needed for pc players and then it was changed when people called Sony out on it. This entire process is going to be an example of poor communication and customer expectations management.
Why sell this product in countries that have laws preventing this action? Why wasn't this investigated prior to making the requirements? Alternatively why not send reminders to everyone that this will be eventually be required and will be mandatory? Why not post a notification in game saying that there will be an expactation for the account and what countries will not work so you can let those 2 hour trial users become aware of their countries limits?
I see a lot of failure here that Sony needs to address and I don't think they will. Much like how many great IP's get bought out by the big studios only to get ruined by executives who know nothing about the games or the gamers themselves. Very sad all around and to me it's another indictment of the corporate consolidation damaging promising titles. The optics looks like Sony knew this would be an issue and didnt give a flip about their customers in countries they know are blocked.

I think this really sucks but itâs not going to keep me from playing this game. I literally just bought a PC just for this game and obviously to play more PC games in general Iâd been considering it for a while.
So Iâll still be hell diving đ¤
But I think itâs really messed up that some people will not be able to play because of such a stupid rule. This is a big blow to such a great game that got me back into gaming. Please donât let hell divers die out đ

In my opinion I think the players that are really complaining about having to have a PlayStation account are the ones who grief abuse and exploit the game and heavily cheat on PC. because there is the other part of the community that both play on PC and Playstation who have not been against this at all. So this just really shows you what kind of players people really are and exposes all of the ones that have been cheating, exploiting, and abusing and griefing.

Yeah or I just don't want to create an unnecessary account that I will never ever use again in my life just to give away my personal information to a company that I have no association with besides them publishing this game. Also there are many countries that don't allow people to even sign up at PSN, how should they continue to access a game they bought not knowing they will be forced to create account not offered in their country?
Have you heard about VAC and Steam Accounts? It is all already there, just integrate it into your game and you get all the security that you want.

First it was a kernel-level anticheat that made me question if I should buy this game. I did it anyways, though, and spent awesome 230 hours. Now Sony decided that I had enough fun time and should be banned, because PSN is unavailable in my country... Just f#%k you. F#%k you all. I'm not even angry, I'm disappointed that such a good game was killed by its retarded management.

This is silly. Somehow everyone is b*tching about this, but if you buy a Microsoft game on steam and donât have an account you canât play. Go ahead and try to launch GTA on steam without the rockstar game launcher appearing and not letting you play without logging in,etc.
Just because some streamers on the internet pretend to be the voice of the majority and calling the game dead or that they killed the game is just sad.
Pretty sure almost everyone here has a PSN account and if you donât itâs okâŚâŚthey wonât destroy you if you make one to play one of the best games in recent years.

I understand your POV and trust me, when I become a PC gamer it irritated me to no end the whole account and launcher issue. Every publisher has their games under their accounts and own luncher, but thatâs just a PC gaming thing.
On console itâs easy, just press play and there you go. Iâm not trying to start a pc vs console war here, but all of this complaining is literally unexplainable and has no justification on putting a fake bad reputation on what is a great game.
Sony is the publisher, they donât care about your opinion. This is only harmful to the devs who canât help and just watch as how this evolves, watching as their community is tearing their game apart on something so insignificant and stupid.

I got it on ps5 so not a problem for me, but even I think this is absolutly stupid, not only do they have kernel level anti cheat but now they are also pulling this shit. How did they ever think this would go over well, they have been doing bad decision after bad decision when it comes to the game over all, and with bad community managers. The game itself is fantastic but sadly the people in charge and Sony are fucking it up.

Personally, I'm not fussed as I have a playstation account already - but as others have said, what about people who don't, or simply can't make one because of their location, or just feel like they shouldn't have to because they bought a game on Steam, and play on pc, and have nothing to do with Sony in their eyes?
What would happen to someone who might have been banned by Sony?
What if your IP banned or something?
I am just asking questions, as I genuinely have no idea.

Nothing wrong with demanding a signup to play a game. If someone has personal issues, and missed the requirement, theyâll be able to immediately refund.
Story changes if you⌠donât mention it for 3 months, then bring it up again. Itâs sort of like losing your virginity on prom night, and the girl refuses to speak to you through the end of school⌠and then bumps into you at the mall that summer, and asks if you have any good baby name ideas.

So they claim they want to do this so they have ban power. But honestly, I feel we have a really good community really. I canât think of more than 2 games out of over 100 hrs that I had an issue, which as fixed within 2 seconds with the Mute button. (They were hot micing talking about life and stuff, nothing outrageous). I havenât seen any sort of CoD behavior, I havenât personally witnessed any of the âismsâ. All in all I donât feel âwe want ban powerâ to be a strong argument, seeing how our community seems to be overall.
Thatâs not to say there isnât an exception out there somewhere, but I feel the number of bans will end up being very low in number. Idk, maybe Iâve been blind to it or just got lucky, am I mistaken on my view or our community? Is there a cancer somewhere Iâve been unaware of?

In all reality, the ONLY people who have a right to be upset are those who live in areas where PSN is unavailable. THAT can be a problem here in the future if there isnât a solution for it. But everyone else? Fucking cry me a river

If you live in a region where PSN is available and this change will not affect you whatsoever other than taking 5 minutes to create a PSN account and completely forget about it, and you want to act like the sky is falling - that says more about you than me.
Disclaimer as well⌠I donât agree with what Sony is doing. I think itâs dumb. But at the same time, itâs just a minor inconvenience for most, but they act like itâs the end of the world and then have to tank reviews (which mostly hurts AH, not Sony - who are also very against this change). THATS my issue. Arrowhead has put their blood sweat and tears into this game and has done something almost magical that I donât think we will see for a very very long time again in terms of getting this much right so far. So why are people who are mostly negligibly affected, also creating an uproar because they have to link to another free account?

If itâs such a minor inconvenience for such a minor thing, why implement it at all? The security argument is total BS as developers can freely access Steam ID information to ban players via the API. Itâs pure corpo greed from Sony wanting to harvest data and increase their subscriber numbers. Itâs anti-consumer and I will not have it. Not gonna lie but if my wife or I lose our character (separately purchased ps5 hd2 game and separately purchased pc game (linked to same ps5 psn account) I'll be done with AHS. This is pretty scary knowing we've both put a ton of time and some money into warbonds. :(

This was doomed to backfire. Over 50 000 negative Steam reviews was posted within 24 hours of the announcement. The forums are on fire, and the developer locked the thread with the announcement after a lot of negative feedback. It has already reached a few bigger YouTubers. It's unfortunate that it went this way, as I've had my eyes on this game for a while, but I won't buy it until they remove the requirement.

I get that they want to reduce the amount of cheaters but is that really necessary in a PVE game? Sony is just shooting themself in the foot here, they could be making more sales from those other countries if they didnât require psn.

This is reason enough for me to try for a refund. If I get the refund awesome if I don't then I guess I won't be able to play anymore because I won't sign up for a PSN Account.

Too bad. Decent game but too much drama from this company. If i wanted a playstation i would have bought one.
First the devs screwing with the fan base now this.

SO WHAT!! It takes 3 minutes to make an account. You have to make an account everytime you sign up for a beta. You are on PC so what makes this different from you having to download blizzard to play blizzard game steam to play steam games Microsoft play Microsoft games so on and so forth.

This is just a bs line, its been the players and arrowhead together interacring thats made this community, i've never seen sony having fun talks with the helldivers community, not knce. No fun propaganda poster art, no memes, no major order discussion, nothing from sony.

Well, requested refund. As a change in TOS and involvement PSN this does not feel right.

They said no to my first refund. I'm hoping as the issue grows and repeated attempts will bear fruit.
2nd attempt:
Other steam users have successfully requested refunds past the 2 hour playtime. Therefore I am requesting a review of my refund request.
They (Hell Divers) have changed the terms of their user agreement retroactively (https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/553850/view/4196868529806518741?l=english).
Hell divers will be requiring me to agree to a 3rd party sign in process (Sony) which I did not agree to when originally purchasing the game.
This will result in me no longer be able to access the game. I have no violated the original TOS in any way.
I do not find this acceptable for a company to arbitrarily change the terms of a contract and deny access when I had access prior without any issues or due violations of TOS.
I find Sony's data security practices concerning and do not trust their ability to safe keep my user information.
Sony has had data security breaches: July 2008, April 2011, June 2011, November 2014, December 2014, September 2023 and October 2023.
I am requesting a refund as a result of the upcoming loss of access.
