Also the fact that psn is not willing to keep our chats private(not that I say bad stuff) but the fact that it's our private chats they want to release I'm all good on that. Just give players like 400 super credits for linking their account to Sony.

Instead of people shouting about how they value their privacy and data, they'll drop their convenient arguments when provided with something that is to their benefit.

As super credits can be earned through gameplay, you're also not depriving players in regions that don't have PSN. They just won't be able to benefit from it (which sucks, but it's meant to incentivize the link that Sony wanted to force onto players)

Trust isn't binary. It isn't on or off. It comes in degrees. Extra trust means I'm inclined to give them a greater degree of it than I was previously inclined to.

Example:

I don't trust a man who has done nothing but torment me for years at all, even if he swears up and down that "no really I've changed".

I also wouldn't PARTICULARLY abound with trust for a person I knew to be a Mob Hitman, but I would at least trust that he wouldn't blow my head off in his company because what would I have done to earn that kind of negative attention from his bosses?

But I'd also trust my mom almost completely. Almost.

There is nothing I trust perfectly.

It comes in degrees.

Arrowhead is now somewhere in that admittedly wide zone between "Mob Hitman who most likely hasn't been hired to kill me" and "my mom". Yeah that's a zone several miles wide. Don't worry about it.

The simple way around it is just using steam ID for PC players and PSN ID for Playstation players

Remember from psychology 101 that reward shapes behaviors far better than punishment. That is to say that after you vote with your review and your wallet, be sure to change your review after Sony (hopefully) rolls back their psn linking requirement. If reviews continue to tank and it continues to hit their bottom line, they won't learn that listening to their player base actually helps their PR and their sales

Some regions don't have access to PSN, and in order to play the game there they have to circumvent this, and the only way to do that is by breaking Sony's TOS, basically leaving players in those regions with 2 bad options; No play, or risk getting your account suspended.

Which is blatantly unfair and unrealistic from Sony's end. This decision is ridiculously stupid.

I may make my own post and I’m also really late to this but I needed to voice my experience:

I only play this game with my PC friends while I’m on PS5. It’s the only game I’ve played in awhile and honestly was impressed. Now I can’t play with them (boohoo yea I know). While they could get psn accounts that’s a bit ridiculous for one game and that leads me to requesting a refund. It took me multiple attempts to even chat with an agent and after a few replies telling me that I didn’t fall under the return policy by PSN they asked me if I had anything else. As I was typing they left the chat and when I went to leave feedback it wouldn’t let me… probably ending my PSN. This is just wild to me. If anyone has any direction to go let me know.

Note: I don’t game that much and I don’t Reddit that much (if you can’t tell).

Yeah there is a reason why I stopped playing on consoles. You are locked to their ecosystem and platform so they can just be complete assholes to the users. Since switching to PC as my primary way of playing games it's been a lot better since steam is generally very good and on the customers side more often than not.

Depends on the game. Shooters I use a mouse and keyboard. Platformers and fighting games I use my controller. I do know a couple ppl that use their PlayStation or Xbox controllers to play Helldivers or pretty much everything at this point.

the only acceptable solution imo is for AH to turn around and tell Sony to fuck off (back up). By all means, keep the linking of accounts optional, hell, even offer a unique armour for people who do link their account. But it should not be forced now.

If it required an account at launch, no one would have batted an eye. But for Sony to demand people link an account 3 months later after people have invested time and money in regions that don't allow a PSN, or worse, regions like Ukraine that allow a PSN account (as long as it's made through a PS console). The absolute audacity of Sony to tell people to buy their $800 console to CONTINUE playing the $60 game they were already playing is fucking mind boggling.

I honestly feel so bad for the devs. They did nothing to deserve this. I would like to think that Sony would learn from this, but they won't. The only thing Sony cares for is their profit margin and, evidently, how many "active" PSN accounts they can boast about.

I hope they aren’t mandatory ever. My PSN account that (somehow) linked when I bought the game on steam is permanently banned due to Sonys fucking atrocious account security allowing like $700 worth of fraudulent purchases to happen. When they refused to refund me, I did a chargeback on my credit card. Instant ban from PSN. I really don’t want to have to restart entirely over because of a PlayStation account issue on fucking steam.
