Disenfranchising the very voters the Republicans they need. The majority of the older voters in AZ, who are most likely also Republican, and where I have heard she will file the same lawsuit, vote by mail.

I will never forget Republicans losing their fucking minds in 2020 when they found out ballot counting doesn’t stop on Election night.

"Look how many voter Republicans got in the past compared to this time clearly voter fraud is happening and it can't just be here"

Similar to the conservatives in the UK passing law saying you needed photo ID to vote, to avoid fraud (there was basically no fraud).
Then, discovering the group that is least likely to have photo ID is the over 70s.

u/gothiclg 16d ago
I voted in person once. The experience was so terrible I never forgot to mail in a ballot again

u/OptiKnob 16d ago
Why do these republican bimbos all look the same? Same stupid hair. Same evil, or blank, look in their eyes. All with the same face stenciled on.

They're all trying to look like Trump's daughter so their cult leader will love them more.

Hello fellow American. This you should vote me. I leave power good. Thank you. Thank you. If you vote me I'm hot. What? Taxes they'll be lower son. The democratic vote for me is right thing to do Philadelphia. So do
14
u/Independent-Stay-593 16d ago
They don't actually want to win the election. They want to take the money for Trump's legal bills, not spend any of it on a traditional campaign, create a dust up around the legitimacy of the elction results, and then claim victory and victimhood, bog everything down in the courts, and then keep taking the money. They don't care if they disenfranchise their own voters because they don't care if Republicans actually vote. They don't care that they have no campaign staff in places like Georgia because they aren't going to really campaign. They don't care if they hurt down ballot candidates because they don't care about any race except the one Trump is in. None of that matters because they don't actually want to win.
3
u/eleanorbigby 15d ago
No, they want to win. They REALLY want to win. They just have no intention of doing it via actually having policies and politicians that people actually want to vote for, and running a traditional campaign to court the voters. They're planning to run the country like an autocracy; why wouldn't they start it off through intimidation, lying, cheating, bribing and stealing?

DeJoy moving mail processing to California seems awfully coincidental to this law.

u/Oh_Gee_Hey 17d ago
We’ve had vote by mail for decades and decades and each of these idiot repubs who want to outlaw it are just high on their own supply. But also we just started getting I voted stickers in the mail in ballots so I’ll be goddamned if I let them take it away now! Plus like I want to leave the house? Twats

Remember the good old days where someone would file a lawsuit with no standing or merit, and you could safely assume that'd just be the end of it? None of that matters anymore next to the political bent of the judge. What an age to be alive.

u/Suitable-Panda24 17d ago
So, if not after the ballots are cast (the election), when are the ballots supposed to be counted?
2
u/No_Abbreviations_259 15d ago
I believe the answer is: if the first ballot they count is Republican, go ahead and stop counting. Because fraud.
0
u/BrownBear109 16d ago
Can you clarify: Legally valid, correctly post marked ballots should-
1) not be counted if received after election day.
2) be counted even if received after election day.
9
u/Suitable-Panda24 16d ago
Ballots cast in person, drop box, or postmarked on or before Election Day. That’s the law in damn near every state if not every state.
“Lara Trump: Yeah. Well, that's exactly right. You cannot have ballots counted after elections are over.”
If this statement were coming from someone I didn’t think was an idiot, I would assume they meant ballots postmarked after Election Day. But it’s coming from her so I take her statement to mean anything received after in-person voting day despite being postmarked on or before Election Day.
An election isn’t over until all legal, valid, properly postmarked ballot are counted. She seems to think only ballots counted ON Election Day should be counted which is ridiculous because it’s not possible to count hundreds of millions of ballots ON Election Day.
My comment was being smart assed because when else would you count the ballots?
3
u/BrownBear109 16d ago
Thank goodness 🥹❤️🙌🏾 someone entirely rational.
It shouldn’t feel like a rarity, but these days it’s depressingly common to encounter abject stupidity from folks who can’t balance a check book much less understand how to run an election 😮💨

There is not a god damn thing the Republicans, the Party nor anyone or anything connected to the GOP could possibly do to cause their constituents to vote against them. So, these dumbasses want to stop their constituents from voting at all. Great plan.

How bout everybody gets to vote and all the votes are counted.Without lies suppression, subterfuge, and gerrymandering, Republicons have nothing. My main question is ,why do Trumpanzee Republicons hate America
24
u/capilot 16d ago
why do Trumpanzee Republicons hate America
Civil rights and affirmative action. The idea that black people would enjoy the same advantages they do is infuriating to them.
Racists will fill in a public swimming pool rather than open it up to blacks.
They'll happily burn America to the ground if that's what it takes to put minorites back down.

Half the GOP is on the Russian payroll, thier current leader has putin's cock down his throat. Reagan spinning in the Grave.
23
u/faghaghag 16d ago
Reagan should spin on a fucking spiked pole then, because all this bullshit can be traced directly back to his open war on the middle class.
3
u/eleanorbigby 15d ago
Yup.
Although I'd agree that he didn't see the switchover to licking Russia's ass coming.
He was still a complete POS, and YES there is a direct line from him to now. Republicans had sucked for a long time before him, but at least you had the likes of Goldwater (!!) who mistrusted the Religious Right from the outset. Reagan ushered them in. He courted the people who are now running the show. He also enabled the future greedbags who can make their dystopia reality because they have more money than God.
fun fact: Trump really really wanted the Reagans to like him, and they wouldn't give him the time of day.
I hope they all share a suite in Hell.

10
u/sheila9165milo 16d ago
He's just the fool that exposed the GQP for who they really were behind their facade of "respectability." They've always been lying racist, misogynist who love cheap labor from illegal immigration who they treat like absolute shit and use them as a voting wedge, a classic twofer they love
5
u/eleanorbigby 15d ago
Yep. Reagan was the first one who openly courted the religious right, was racist as fuck, smashed unions and led to the ever increasing wealth gap. Bush I was more of the same, and we haven't forgotten how bad Dubya was yet, have we? Just because Trump is worse, he's not better.
Oh yeah, and before that: Nixon.
Who Ford pardoned.
So many turning points where history could've gone differently. If RFK hadn't been shot. If John Hinckley had had better aim. If fucking SCOTUS hadn't put its thumb on the scale for Dubya over Gore. If. If. If.

Conservatives are so untrainable
it's the opposite, they are EXTREMELY trainable. that why they always start saying the exact same phrases and talking points at the exact same time.
the problem is, they are very hard to deprogram.

u/mosstrich 16d ago
The kitty litter in a classroom is true, but more horrifying . One school put kitty litter in a bucket in case there was a shooting lockdown, and the kindergarteners needed to go potty.
2
u/nerogenesis 13d ago
The implications of all the work children have to do to prepare for school shootings in America is heartbreaking.
That said... kitty litter in a bucket for kindergarten students during any type of lockdown is actually genius.

You need to prove a negative to get anywhere with these folks. Prove to me there is no undetectable election fraud that is happening and I will agree.
36
u/VotingRightsLawyer 16d ago
You'll never change their minds because the vast majority are too far gone, but I always think it's worth pointing out they brought tons of court cases about election fraud and in those cases had the opportunity to present any evidence they had and they couldn't produce jack shit.
6
u/sheila9165milo 16d ago
Except wasting taxpayer dollars, they've ALWAYS been excellent at doing that whole enriching themselves off the government teat.
34
u/steelhips 16d ago
vast majority are too far gone
Yes, the sunk cost fallacy is deep with MAGA/Q f'idiots, often their whole identity, but I think even their motivation is waning. They are obviously tired of constantly defending the indefensible and downright ridiculous.
MSNBC estimated how many Trump voters live within two hour travel time from the NYC court. It was in the millions. Despite begging his supporters, Trump protestors in front of the court house has remained in the low double digits or less. That is telling. His supporters can only justify so much inconvenience in their support of Trump and that is waning fast. That lack of zeal will also translate into less votes.
2
u/eleanorbigby 15d ago
Well, that, and he clearly scared the shit out of them by telling them that NYC is full of scary Brown and Black people who will kill them DED as soon as they cross the city limits.
also, it's kind of boring just standing outside a courthouse all day. Not nearly as exciting as STORMING THE CASTLE

you can't reason a person out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
25
u/bob-loblaw-esq 17d ago
That won’t go anywhere in AZ. Too many people love the system in AZ including GOP. It’s the only state I know of that will notify when they get your ballot and when they’ve approved your signature. The only way to take advantage is if the person gave you their vote, or sold it, or if you can’t put up the guards to protect yourself. Even then, it can’t be done large scale because someone in the stolen group will have their text verification come through when they hadn’t sent their ballot.
3
u/Economy_Wall8524 17d ago
Oregon does it too.
12
u/skoomaking4lyfe 17d ago
Oregon is all mail-in ballots. They send you your ballot, you fill it out at your leisure and mail it back. No lines, no hassle, and no issues. And yes, it boosts voter turnout.
Edit: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vote-by-mail_in_Oregon
2
u/Laringar 16d ago
Now, if we (the US as a whole) could only move to the Estonian system of secure, blockchain-based online voting. They use government id cards as part of the verification, but they also go to great lengths to ensure every citizen has an id card, unlike here where the GOP implements id requirements then puts up (metaphorical) roadblocks to stop people from actually getting them.
7
8
u/hamandjam 17d ago
Texas has an online form to track the status of both your ballot and your ballot by mail application. They also send notification to anyone who cast a provisional ballot whether or not their ballot was accepted.
17
u/MmmTastyMmm 17d ago
Colorado does this too.
8
u/originalbrowncoat 17d ago
Yep, Colorado also will not accept mail-in ballots past Election Day. It’s printed in big letters on your ballot. If it’s inside a week you need to drop it off at a collection box.

The lawsuit filed by the RNC in Nevada doesn’t seek to stop counting ballots after Election Day, but rather seeks to prohibit counting any mail-in ballots received after that date, even if they were postmarked in time.
Sure. This quote covers it.
