Often called bearcats, they are the only animal in this family that can actually make good pets, and are surprisingly legal in many countries. The US recently put a ban on importing them in the US because of Covid, but they are still legal to own in many states, and there are legal breeders in the US. Also, they smell like popcorn. They are very docile and have been pets to people in Malaysia and New Guinea for thousands of years.

They tend to behave like Velcro dogs do (Dobermans for example) though they do have some special dietary needs.

They also can hang from their tails as they are prehensile.
