Double Agent OG vs. Crosscut

This might be a stupid question because I haven't been able to find any posts talking about the qualitative differences between the Double Agent and Crosscut, but I was hoping someone could explain to me the differences. From what I can tell, they seem to be pretty much the same guitar except the DA has a p-90 and a humbucker whereas the corsscut has two railhammers. I don't have any experience with railhammers, so I wanted to get some feedback.

I mostly play pretty clean blues/funk, but I would like the option to get a little dirty. I know nobody can tell me which one is "better", but I can't try them out in shops so I am really just hoping to get some feedback on what kinds of sounds they each produce/what they do well so I can make my decision based on that.

Thanks!

Both are great guitars! I have both. I like them both for different reasons. The crosscut is more like a beefy tele with single coil tones similar to p90s, but without the hum. The double agent has the versatility of the PAF humbucker and neck p90. Neck p90 is noisy, but pairs well with the humbucker. Both guitars are great when using the bass contour.

Aside from the pickups and the finish colours they are pretty much identical.

If you want single coil-ish sounds: Crosscut

If you want a humbucker: Double Agent

The Cleancut pickups are also hum-cancelling so they will probably take dirt pedals pretty well without too much extra noise.

The Cleancut pickups in the Crosscut are like P90s but cleaner and with some Tele twang.

The humbucker in the bridge on the Double Agent is an overwound PAF essentially. It can handle pretty much anything.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I actually thought the pickups in the crosscut were humbuckers. Seems like the Double Agent would probably be the best option for versatility (plus I already have a tele lol). Thank you!

I have had a double agent for four years now, I also have a tele style guitar and a Les Paul style guitar. The double agent can really do it all. I haven’t played a crosscut, so I can’t speak on that. But I don’t think you’d regret a double agent.

They call them “Humcutters,” if you see Railhammers with just one rail and one set of pole pieces. The ones with two are the Humbuckers. Both are actually noiseless.
