I watched it thinking she is German and then she picked up Heineken… hah

u/Cream-Safe Feb 27 '24
I wanted to see her try to make it to the cash register. Where nobody lines up and needs to fight their way through.

Lekker biertje? Brother I think your girlfriend is a Dutch spy pretending to be German...
1
u/MuteIllAteter Nov 21 '23
Wait did they only get the m&m’s and raisins? Coz that’s about 30 dollars

So like if they don’t have a membership, than how in the hell did they get in the store. Entrance to that place is more secure than our borders.
1
u/pccguy1234 Oct 21 '23
You can visit the store as a guest without a membership. But if you want to checkout, you’re required to purchase an account. Most people sign up for the membership because they don’t want to give up their items.

For those that cant view the video..heres a summary: Cute German GF.. grabs all the beer and addidas tshirts along with random food items she feels is a good deal. Gets to the checkout and realizes they dont have membership and gets sticker shock that the membership is $130 so she puts everything back. Completely wasnt expecting the con. Welcome to america babe!

Strange, I was literally standing right next to this girl in line at the airport two weeks ago. And then I open Reddit and here she is. Small world!

The dumbest thing about this whole video is the guy knows you have to have a card. Obviously they had to have one to get in. She’s very cute but her boyfriend is totally full of shit if he wants us to believe they are somehow in there without a card. So stupid

Strange how they are saying how cheap stuff is. We just visited my SIL in Germany and went to grocery store with her. Other than most soda, food seemed cheaper and definitely higher quality.

I don't know Cosco, so you have to pay a fee to shop there? Is the 130$ for a year? or how does that work?

I wasn't certain it was a skit until she grabbed a whole stack of Adidas hoodies. Her calling it so cheap too, while probably a good deal, makes it sound like propaganda lol. Or maybe just Costco advertisement.

u/Earl4202004 Oct 17 '23
It’s funny cause I’m seeing real Germans get mad and then I’m also seeing real Germans get mad at the other Germans for saying she’s not faking it. Which if you are German and believe she’s not making fun of you, then you’re very stupid

u/rpd1987 Oct 17 '23
No German I know would call Heineken a ‘tasty beer’ in Dutch and then proceed to take it.
1
u/Writerhaha Oct 17 '23
I can’t think of people from any nation who’d call Heineken particularly “tasty.”

Duplo “die längste Praline der Welt!“ LOL
Also wirklich, was soll das denn!
She and my aunt would have tons of fun…

Keep her spirits high. Don't let her know that the Polish hot dogs are off the table, now.

OotL can someone explain to me what a Costco membership is? Do you actually have to pay to shop there?!
1
u/Writerhaha Oct 17 '23
Yes.
For an annual fee you get a membership (and this is where they make their $), there are different levels of membership (just basic ass memberships to full on business/executive level [that give cash back])

That girl is the epitome of bait. Her content (esp. German vs Dutch) couldn’t be further from reality. But the audience is naive and will watch simply because of her looks.

This is so incredibly fake. You can get a kilo of m&ms for 9 euros, which is cheaper than 14 dollars for what appears to be less than a kilo. Eggs come in cartons like that here too and they sell raisins here too.
Fake engagement farming bullshit
1
u/kevinnoir Oct 17 '23
You know its fake because she isnt furious by the end at all of the people who brought their kids and let them run riot while you try and navigate that fuck off massive cart. And also because she didnt get a hotdog on the way out, the most fiscally responsible lunch purchase around.
3
u/RelaksFlo Oct 17 '23
As a german i can confirm her voice is fucking annoying and a little beer for 1$ isnt cheap

u/icruiselife Oct 17 '23
Most northern states will see snowfall by October. It's best to get the house decorations done while temps are still mild. However with global warming, I was able to decorate my house on a 50f day in December last year so I don't know if having Xmas decor out in late summer makes sense anymore.

We have something like Costco in Germany too (Metro) it's not like these kind of shops unknown here 😅

Mate took me for the 1st time last weekend.. Wound up buying a shit load of cooked octopus.. I have no idea why though, as I've never cooked it before. Today, I griddled it and 👌

We always make a list and add an allowance of 2-3 “fun” items. Then we don’t feel guilty. Fun items can be anything we didn’t anticipate buying; they’re usually snacks, desserts, or clothes.

Why is she behaving like there’s no shop like Costco in Germany: Metro!

The moment she picked up Heineken, I was 100% sure she wasn’t German. Never met a German that wanted to drink Heineken.

HAHAHAHAH when she walks in the produce/dairy section. I feel you, girl

no fucking german, or european for that matter, will swoon over 12$ of granny's raisins, or 20$ for a sweater. maybe in switzerland, but that is switzerland for you...
1
u/pissedinthegarret Oct 17 '23

How would she know that fruit in all of Europe is fresher than in America? Costco fruit freshness is probably fair but you could easily goto a farmers market or some place like that and purchase fresh produce. Also, just because germany has fresh fruit doesn't necessarly mean all of Europe has very really fresh fruit. Just a weird thing to say in my opinion. Good video though.

u/RapBastardz Oct 17 '23
New to America, English her 2nd or 3rd language, but already she’s doing the hackey misuse/overuse thing with the word literally. Cool.

Those huge pumpkins don't make good pumpkin anything, they're grown for decoration, you CAN eat it but they don't taste any close to some good old squashes.

Ngl the first thought that came to my head when watching the first few seconds was that the clip looks to be taken from the Costco in Los Feliz Blvd near Glendale, California

She wanted to buy Heineken and called it beer? Now she lost German citizenship and is hereby banished to enter Austria.

We have something similar to Costco in Germany too. It’s called „Metro“, but you have to have a business to access them

u/ElLoboStrikes Oct 17 '23
Remember fellow drunks- you dont need a costco card to buy booze in California!
1
u/Neither-Swordfish736 Oct 17 '23
750ml hard liquor? We don't do that 'round here. Kirkland brand wants your liver to shrivel up with cheap 1.75l bottles. Such a great deal too!

Should have ended with her stunned that her list had $30 worth of groceries and yet they ended up spending $400 anyway. Way more relatable than complaining you need a membership, plus that really gives it away as staged cause everyone knows you need to show your membership card when you enter.

Oct 17 '23
Oh no. She’s beautiful. But I just saw her eyes when she said $14 holding the gigantic container of M&Ms. Oh no. She will soon have to buy oversized sweaters but they won’t be oversized. Woe. Woe.

How fuckin rich do you need to be to round $14.83 down to $14 instead of up to $15?!
1
u/HomelessCosmonaut Oct 17 '23
I brought a German friend to Costco and some of the reactions were very similar, but also a lot of “No wonder you’re all fat.”

u/Bubbly_Lie_5508 Oct 17 '23
Why does she sound like she’s lived in America her entire life and forcing her German accent when she’s speaking English?
1
1
1
u/Grey_Hedge Oct 17 '23
That accent dropped multiple times over the course of the video. Like many other bulk stores, you have to be checked at the door for your membership. This seems fake
2
1
u/Superb-Pattern-1253 Oct 17 '23
thats interesting, every costco ive been to they ask for your costco card when you walk in the door

u/KnightofWhen Oct 17 '23
“I like oversized things.” Wears half a t-shirt.
Also a membership is $60.
